The Roman museum in Merida is spectacular. If anything though, its so stunning it almost detracts from the exhibits. I say 'almost' though, because it doesn't, but it internal scale and open galleries are perfect for the mosaic floors displayed vertically. I've never seen such incredible displays. Far, far too much to take it all in, in a single visit and literally all within stone's throw of the breathtakingly beautiful Teatro Romano and amphitheatre complex. Dont try to see Merida in a single day, or youll miss 90% of whats there to see. Luckily for me, its 50km from my home. Ive been dozens of times, but keep finding more every time. Weve already booked our plays for the 2024 Festival of Classical Theatre, held each summer in the 2000 seat Roman Theatre.

marquee for les cols restaurant, RCR. I haven't been to Spain but saw those amazing space and structures designed by RCR in an earlier version of El croquis. I love their ideas of integrating design into the context and being part of the landscape. The exposed raw materials and intriguing space bring nature into the man-made shelter.

I have been to Mas Les Cols and stayed in the Pavilions and ate at the restaurant back in 2007. Had a pretty extensive tour with someone from the office and even saw Casa Rural (Horizontal House) from a distance. I have been meaning to go back there but I haven’t worked out the best way to incorporate into Archimarathon tour without stretching it too long. Most of their projects you really need a car/minibus to get to.

Here is a link to my friend Stephen Varady who have been to the Marquee (which is right next to the restaurant and Pavilions but built after my visit). Here are his photos and blog entry. stephenvaradyarchitraveller.com/2018/01/15/olot-les-cols-restaurant-marquee-spain/

@@Archimarathon that is so true. I was working as an intern for RCR in 2016 and had to borrow a friend's car to drive for an hour and visit La Lira theater. Magnificent space, one of my favourites in Spain!

Too many to mention Aritz. I am a sucker for anything shellfish and seafood, especially Navajas a la plancha, Berberechos al vapor and Percebes. I like classic Madrid dishes (I know they are more for winter) such as Callos and Caracoles a la Madrileña. Also like Cordoba dishes like Rabo de Toro and Perol Cordobes. Actually I was going to make Tortilla de patatas but I am a bit too tired. Will do that tomorrow.

In Spain, I have always wanted to see the rebuilt German Pavilion in Barcelona. Compared to what you have been showing us, it would seem to be too pedestrian. My fear is that I would be disappointed.

It is far from pedestrian!! It’s seminal and the best hangover cure, believe me, I know. Most tourist would have just walked right past it without knowing it’s there and why that is so special. I do have the intention to make a detailed breakdown of the Barcelona Pavilion in the future, when we get to go back again and get more decent footage to illustrate the points.

Well for me I like the Sagrada familia, but I'm guessing you guys are not interested in traditional architecture because most modern Architects hate or find traditional architecture boring and the same.
