Rucking is also the #1 skill associated with survival.. throughout world history the ability to migrate with a pack over long distances allowed the greatest chance of survival for people in wars, catastrophes, natural disasters etc.

Love rucking. Gets you out in nature and provides time to think, socialize, or listen to books on tape.

Even if you are in the city. This is a great exercise to do. With a metronome application, you can listen to a military cadence doing so.

In my 40's it's been a game changer for me. Cardio is better I'm leaner and doesn't effect the gym. Great video!

I (45) just recently found out this is a thing. I'm doing a lot of Kickboxing and wanted to do running aside but it wasn't an option (Muscle tear due to overload). Now with rucking this is really a big difference and can easily combine the two. VO2Max is still going up, I'm in better shape then 25 years ago.

Great video. Very well spoken. I'm 66 and been walking every day for the last 4 year, can't wait to start rucking. Going to start with 10 pound pack and slowly work my way up.

17:48 - I started rucking a few months ago. I was 50 lb overweight, in my 60s, and had not been doing much walking.
I started with 15 lb. At the time, I was unable to climb the moderately steep hill near my house without multiple pauses to rest. Within perhaps six weeks, I could reach the top carrying 40 lb without stopping... albeit with considerable difficulty. Today, several months later and 20 lb lighter, I can haul 40 lb up that hill without breaking stride.
Rucking has been transformative for me. I have found it to be a surprisingly efficient path to improving cardiovascular fitness. Additionally, my core is considerably more toned and my legs are noticeably stronger.
I cannot express the extent to which this one activity has improved my life. Beyond merely physical benefits, it has elevated my mood and energy level, and restored a degree of motivation to my life that I haven't felt in more than a decade.

@19:40 don't pick a backpack that looks like you got it from basic training. Avoid conspicuous camo.
Avoid molle straps and tons of outside pockets.
Sure it looks cool but also tells anyone that sees you: hey! I have supplies and items you could use!
Or says take me out first bc i pose the biggest obstacle.
When all you want to do is get home.

I'm not sure your advice on NOT wearing boots to Ruck is founded good advice. I Ruck myself in the UK and always wear boots . Its vital to have good ankle support whilst Rucking bearing in mind your carrying a heavy load on your back 20 40 50 lbs .
Thus needing good ankle support or you will risk injury.

I'd start with 20 lbs and build up from there as needed.

I do rucking almost everyday. To introduce myself, my family is Japanese. So buying dozens or 24 cans of beer and 15 pound worth of Japanese rice on my back I am gaining quite a strength. With the additional running (4 times a week) to build endurance and lose fat. But because I have been doing rucking, my leg size is getting incredible. Also with my mask on I'm gaining a greater lung strength. Also here in nyc, hate crimes are real. I wish everyone here will have a greatest day and send me blessings.

@@ozzy5146 depends on which ruck, my issue pack most certainly had hip support as well as an ergonomic back but I wasn't American military perhaps they care less as they often use the cheapest manufacturers.
