    Women's pockets are 47% smaller than men's. I've written to lots of manufacturer's and wish more women would do the same. If they don't/can't hold a cell phone then I won't buy them.

    I enjoyed this list and the eco-friendly list (I’m vegan). A couple of things I would add would be a water filtration system (a collapsible water bag wrapped around a Lifestraw) and one of those silicon devices (like a GoGirl) that allow women to pee standing up - there having been times when traveling when the bathroom facilities have been iffy at best. A small bottle of hand sanitizer would not be a bad idea either.

    Great ideas! As a sunscreen freak, SPF 20 is not sufficient. I would highly recommend a water-resistant SPF 50 (vs. 30 - because we never put enough on), It should be applied every 2 hours. A lot of folks use different body and face sunscreens, so make sure you have both. These sunscreens can be hard to remove from your face, an oil cleanser followed by a gentle cleanser works well (which you can also use on your body. Dr. Bonners isn't a brand I would use on the face). I would also carry a mineral lip SPF (Vanicream SPF 30 is a good one) and a night lip SPF - like Cerave ointment or Vaniply - which can also be used on flaky skin). I would also recommend a crushable broad brim hat (e.g. Coolibar, Tilley). Rather than the Dr. Bonners, I would recommend a versatile, non-fragrance wash that can be used on the face, body and even hair (Vanicream Body Wash or Gentle Cleanser, Eucerin Baby, QV (I have to use a separate shampoo for color-treated hair). A good extra to add to one's toolkit: a few Aveeno Baby Eczema Colloidal Oatmeal packets. Slim. Mixed with water, they calm down irritated skin, can be used as a mask or wash. Colloidal oatmeal is considered an FDA drug. Who knew? Being that Shea butter is hard to spread (I hope it's not the one with fragrance and essential oils. I would go for products that are less likely to cause irritation, and fragrance and essential oils can do that. So straight shea butter. Sun Potion makes a good one). I would bring a versatile moisturizer that can be used on body and face (Cerave Lotion or Cream are good choices. For something even heartier, Aveeno Eczema Balm. No, you don't have to have eczema)....Because I can't wear wool, my go to's are Patagonia base layers in various weights. I also love their Houdini, a jacket that weighs as much as a feather. I dig Lululemon's On the Fly stretch pant (that has pockets) and can be worn business or not) and Back in Action top which is lightweight and looks good day or night. I'm for Birkenstock's Arizona/Boston/London. They're especially good for people who need metatarsal/arch support or have feet problems. They also have Vegan versions. Some like Finn's. Flat shoes can take a toll. (I hope you were wearing cushy sneakers on the plane! Gotta have those). Birkenstock's light as a feather water sandal (I can't wear them all day. Some love them) is a nice option too. I like to have a cotton bandana. I bring a next to nothing rain poncho that's longer than my Patagonia rain jacket. A pack of Patagonia peel and stick gear patches for small repairs are great. A thin, foldable pair of ankle water boots (some go over your shoes), are good to have. Water bottle: I've tested so many to make sure their leakproof (very few are): Kleen Kanteen Classic with the loop top (for water and coffee) is great (and Kleen Kanteen is a B Company) as is the Takeya Originals Insulated water bottle (uninsulated bottles are lighter). I always use bottles with smaller openings as I don't like hot or cold splashing all over me. A collapsible water bottle is great to have. One of my packing cubes always converts into a backpack, shoulder bag or sling (Tom Bihn). Patagonia's fold into nothing mini hip bag is a great addition...Unrelated: I would love a review of travel/EDC bags for women with your frame (mine too. I'm sure many others). So many bags that are reviewed are wicked big/too long. My challenge is EDC. It's been hard to find ones that suit. Many thanks for all the good suggestions. Apologies if these recs are on the big list. Now I want to go away. P.S. I am curious about what bag sunscreens go in. I don't think it's wise to remove them from their containers (I could be wrong). Sunscreens are considered a drug, according to the FDA.

    the undies you showed are great if you are small-busted and slim -- I am not and I have started test packing and realized HOW MUCH MORE space my size 18 to 22 size clothes take up, even rolled or folded Marie Kondo style! Same with bras, even wireless, a 44DD takes up a lot of space. Same with bathing suits
    Maybe there is a plus-sized member of your team who could do a video like that?!?!

    Some of the tips are helpful but icebreaker is SO expensive. It would help to do a list for those of us who can't afford $100 t-shirts. Also, the colors are so drab. I don't know any woman who wears all black all the time, especially when traveling. It's fine in the winter, maybe. But in the summer or in really hot places, black and dark colors are the last thing you want to be wearing. I'd love to see more varieties in brands (AND colors) and less expensive options.

      As much as I LOVE having pockets my first priority is fabric, THEN cut/fit, THEN pockets.
      Never seen a combo of that that I've been happy with (Even high end).
      ATM I've got my eye on a pair of merino straight pants, a couple of pockets (but not secure) and very plain. My IDEAL merino pants just aren't viable I've realised (cos merino doesn't hold its shape) so....settling

      My older sister is a rock and mountain climber. She says she prefers pants without pockets because they don't get in the way of harnesses 🤷‍♀️. For a small day pack, I'm currently testing the Triple Aught Design FAST Pack Scout. It's surprising how much will fit into 15L and it doesn't stick out like some backpacks. It's not a women's specific design, but I think it's plain enough not to look too butch to use around town.

    Quick question: I notice the sandals only come in full sizes. I reliably wear a 7.5, so I was wondering what you thought about the sizing. Is that all the sunscreen you wear? And also how do you wash and style your beautiful curls on the go?

    • @PackHacker
      @PackHacker  5 лет назад

      Hey Evelyn! As a digital nomad, I'm inside a lot of time, but when I go out, I do try to stay out of the sun and cover up as much as possible. Wearing a hat, covering my shoulders, and wearing the UNE PIECE Swimsuit packhacker.com/travel-gear/une-piece/original-sexie-rashie-cap-sleeve/ helps with sun protection, but because I'm pretty fair, depending on where I'm traveling to, a solid sunscreen stick packhacker.com/travel-gear/neutrogena/ultra-sheer-face-body-stick-sunscreen-broad-spectrum-spf-70/ is super handy. But, for when it's not sunny, the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer packhacker.com/travel-gear/laura-mercier/tinted-moisturizer/ is great to wear daily for extra protection.
      When it comes to the curls, I'm pretty lucky as they're super low maintenance, especially since I had most of it chopped off before this video. Plus, leaving in conditioner, using a Tangle Teezer packhacker.com/travel-gear/tangle-teezer/compact-styler/ and using Shea Butter packhacker.com/travel-gear/the-body-shop/100-natural-shea-butter/ (which is pretty versatile) is also great for taming that frizz!

As for a handbag type of purse (depends where you're from what "purse" can mean I guess) for an over-shoulder or cross-body I'm really loving the Peak Design Field Pouch. It's low key, easy to carry and fits in enough stuff for a minimal day of walking around (tested in a downpour in Sydney, it's also pretty good at keeping things dry).

      Do check out the Uniqlo AIRism seamless underwear series that are thin, comfy and dries easily. Really great for travel.

    I will admit that I still can’t get over the “2 thongs” as the regular underwear. Lol

      Hey Jeanne - we get what you're saying, everyone is different, so feel free to use this list as a framework and mix it up so that it works for you. Plus the two pairs of Thinx can also be worn as everyday underwear. packhacker.com/travel-gear/thinx/hiphugger/ 😊

    The clothes all seem doable - except those shoes. The are not dressy enough to wear for a fancy dinner out. They're too ugly - I would never wear those shoes to a nice restaurant - and I don't really follow fashion...A pair of lightweight ballet slippers would look better than those shoes. I'm going to try the QUIP travel toothbrush.

      Hey nuvoclassic - thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! We found the Vivobarefoot Handcut Lisbon to be more versatile and comfortable when walking longer distances than ballet pumps, but of course, everyone is different, which is why we suggest using this list as a framework that you can adapt to you and your use case. 😊👍

      I’m actually considering buying a pair of these shoes. I love how versatile they look and they also appear to be quality made.

      I like to pack a pair of black foldable ballet flats. I wear them pretty much everyday but they also work for dressing up.

    Would it be totally TMI to ask if you actually tested the Thinx undies? I've been wondering about them for so long! But that bra, hell yea! I've been looking for something like that for a while! And don't get me started on makeup! Everyone has different tastes but I'm so intrigued by that palette and eco tools brush. Thank you!

    • @PackHacker
      @PackHacker  5 лет назад +4

      Hey Rocio - not at all! It's definitely a topic that needs to be discussed more so that we can find better solutions for travel (and for home). We've been pretty impressed with the Thinx so far AND we're working on a full review too, so stay tuned for that! 😊 We're so glad you're digging the packing list and makeup items, a compact palette is super handy when you're on the go! 🙌

      Hey! I use thinx and they're so good, if you have a medium or light flow they're perfect - especially for sleeping. If you have a heavier flow I'd probably use in conjunction with a diva cup. The style they recommend is probably the best one. Because they're like a pad at the start of my period I find that I change in the afternoon and put on a new pair (just to feel super fresh) so that's something to consider but I think they're great even to start introducing into your routine :) (also sorry if that was too TMI but thought I add my experience)

      Pack Hacker I've been very happy with them! I used them mid last week and did not worry at all about leaking on a very long flight. Thanks again for the recommendation.

    Argh. Vivobarefoot has discontinued the Lisbon. None of their current shoes look anywhere near as versatile (good for business or casual, etc.) as the Lisbon.

      P.S. That crystal deodorant makes me smell worse than no deodorant at all! Also, quick note about the Go Toobs: those are made of silicone, be warned that some health and beauty products that contain silicones can break down the Go Toob material. I ran into this problem with a conditioner I used to use (I have since switched to New Wash, which is now the only thing I use on my hair).
