Always learn something new with your vids. Those Morning Pride Turnouts are definitely built well. We don't use these in my brigade, no bail out systems at all, so it's very interesting.

That's a potentially dangerous setup. You are partially cross loading the oval, and it will take a small movement of the biner to have it putting most of the load on the gate pin - and that sucker is not even rated for body weight.
You should swap to using something like a petzl Omni, or just a 3 way mallion on the cheap. You need a setup that will take a three way pull!
I'm not trying to scare monger. A simple change will make this safe.
At the very least you should mention the risks of this system. You don't... So I'm assuming you don't understand the risks.

I've be a firefighter for over 30 years on both career and volunteer fire departments where I've specialized in technical rescue (including rope rescue, water rescue and firefighter rescue and survival) - I've trained and taught the use of firefighter escape systems and components since the late 1990's, pretty much longer than most others out there - SO I fully understand the risks to anything I teach or demonstrate. I am familiar with the Omni, but I have no concerns about the Osprey, especially for a single person load. Beyond that, I like the dimensions and geometry of the Osprey better than the Omni or triangle style screw links with the type of webbing harness shown in this video. The Osprey is rated at 23 KN on the main axis/spine and 7 KN when cross loaded at the gate - Which equates to 5175 lbs in line and 1575 lbs when cross loaded. YES cross loading or 3 way directional loading can be dangerous, but I've loaded this carabiner countless times - Including intentionally cross loading it. The oval geometry of the Osprey draws the loops of the A frame to the base of the biner - So when the system is body weight loaded, the angle of pull on the A frame loops is still within safe tolerances and NOT at right angles - Which the Petzl Omni is designed more for.

@@DALEGPEKEL Great reply and yes all of it has dangers involved. We have to wear bailout gear (truck company) and we do use the Petzl Omni, which is well integrated into the bailout system. Your set us is great as you are an expert on this type of load and the biggest advantage is a smaller size which means less hang ups in tricking situations such as blacked out smoke situations and going through a wall. Thank you for teaching us all the technical aspects not just the how to.

You should become a firefighter. As a lieutenant in a volunteer company, there isn't a long line of people signing up to help their community's, and the old guys are getting older and there's nobody to replace them. If you think you might be interested, please go to your local fire station and fill out an application and meet the people in the department.
