- NSW One Nation Leader Mark Latham says if we could get the “wokeness” out of mathematics, we’d be “so much better off”.
It comes after a report by the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute revealed high school math enrolments have collapsed, with less than 10 per cent of Year 12 students studying the highest level of mathematics.
“The woke agenda has come into the teaching of maths,” Mr Latham told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

What was that about education?
When i went to School we recited the Lords Prayer before lessons and the Queens Picture was above the blackboard . We needed the right uniform and our shirts needed to be tucked in . We had respect and decency .

The Lord’s Prayer is completely inappropriate in a modern classroom. Half the country are non religious. If parents want religion taught to their kids teach it at home. Religion should not be rammed down the throats of kids .

the highest level of math in school is an elective, is not a pre requisite for ANY university subjects and due to it's difficulties students get better ATAR results just picking a different elective. if you gave ATAR credit for doing extension maths, more students would take it.
My son’s old school have apparently moved it to a before-school slot. That’s how low they rate it and that’s a non-government boy’s school.
You can't change math just because you think you want to change gender one day, and be a cat the next day. Math is math and mentally messed up is different. But how many math problems tell you they feel like being a Spanish or French elective class problem? You jackass

Can anyone explain "Wok Math" from all my years in school, college and graduate university was math. It knows no race, sex or color. However, its challenging as the levels go higher. What I have personally seen its who studies and who doesn't or if you want to honestly learn or not. All we hear it's a white man's course....if that were so didn't all of those of color,race and gender while I attended education have the same chance to. It's just plainly laziness and a way out of a subject many hate. Let the babies cry after all I suffered through it like everyone else & I'm a Woman with 2 young daughters and I worked. Oh I forgot ...I also paid for my education & paid off my student loans.

My experiences apply to uni admission. The problem is that the unis have relaxed the maths requirements for degrees such as engineering. So for example when I went through I studied Maths 1 and 2 (I think it's specialist maths now) because I needed to know the content in order to get on in first year maths / physics / engineering subjects (namely calculus). There were students who didn't have Maths 2, and needed to do a bridging course, otherwise they wouldn't have coped. It's all very well to do easier subjects in order to be more likely to be accepted into your course, but that lack of prerequisites is actually detrimental to the students. They should be advised of this in high school. I've come up against it in tutoring, the lack of career guidance, mainly because none of the teachers have ever studied other degrees such as maths/science/engineering and therefore don't know what's required.
The students are actually better off being exposed to the harder level maths, because this will prepare them better for uni courses, EVEN IF they get lower marks. If they aren't, they'll find the aforementioned uni courses too hard and most likely drop out, which is what I noticed when I went through engineering.

As slang it means progressive to the point of stupidity.
I teach my 5 year old maths at home after school, he knows how to add, subtract and multiply… Yesterday he could recite his 9 times tables perfectly because of an easy formula I taught him. Once he’s at a level where I feel I can no longer add value and teach him more complex equations I plan on getting him a private tutor.
As a professional HS maths & physics tutor myself I would recommend this type of approach.
It's time parents were given more power over what crap the socialist teachers union peddle to our kids.
We could start by making principals elected officials and teachers subjected to yearly reviews by parental committees to determine weather they are fit to teach.

In education, maths is becoming uncomfortable for the left woke. There is either a right or a wrong answer to a math problem and it is therefore discriminatory in that it calls failure when some get it wrong. It would not surprise me if there were already multiple choice answers to problems in school maths exams.
