  • Bob was fortunate to live in Enid where so many railroads crossed. He had some footage of the Frisco taken at the Enid yards and other places. The Frisco appears to have been a well run railroad and it was later merged into the Burlington Northern in 1980.

Well done 5*****, Another interesting fact about the Frisco is that in Augusta KS alot of old relics still remain long after the line was removed. Crossing signals etc still stand. I also bet my grandfathers 74 red Cadillac is in there somewhere.

@Maverick81734 Thank you for your comment. I was very happy that Bob allowed me to share his videos with everyone. He was in the right place at the right time to capture all of this back when it was everyday common. We appreciate it now that it's gone.

@MrSw9guy Thanks for the compliment, and thanks to Bob for being a railfan with an 8mm camera 50 years ago!

Glad you enjoyed it. Bob was in the right place with his 8mm camera back then.

@BNSF7776 Thanks Sylvester. We didn't see a lot of the Frisco in our area, but it must have been common in central Kansas. I thought the weed burner was an interesting approach to the problem.

This is very cool. Can't believe I haven't found it yet. One correction at 1:23, the lead units is #5026 which is an F7.

@railfanfromiantha Yes, you are correct. I had looked at this footage umpteen times by the time I got to the Frisco Chapter and I was re-using titles. That one slipped past. Thanks for the comment.

does enid or any place in oklahoma still get as much traffic as seen here? that would've been tremendous to visit back in the day

@mxferro I can't answer that, but you can certainly see that they did hump them. Maybe the auto-racks were tougher in those days as well.

Kewl, ha I didn't think they were supposed to send auto racks over the hump either....

I didn't think they were allowed to hump auto racks?!?!? wouldn't the heavy jolt of coupling be a bad thing on those?
