Chinese in India, please keep up with your tradition of celebrating Chinese New Year. This year, dragon year brings peace, happiness, and prosperity for India and racial harmony there.
Chinese reunion dinner celebration in India is a good time for family members bonding. I am surprised, the Chinese in India reunion dinner, no bowls of rice served. In Singapore, the Chinese reunion dinner must include bowls of fragrance white rice.
I'm Indian and I love Chinese culture so much. I don't care if y'all Indians scream and tell me I'm a disgrace to India. I don't care about politics, I just want you Chinese to keep up your tradition even in India. Happy Chinese New Year!
if someone hates the chinese culture just cz its from china then that guy is a dumbass. Both indian and chinese nations and people have civilizational background and have mingled nicely in the past. The problem is political and recent. Although i see some racists in both countries attack the people instead of keeping it political but i guess every nation has its navel fluffs
This is my very first time to find out that Indian with Chinese decent were established in India. Same to us Malaysians too, we blend in into a multiracial society among the other races including the Indian decent .
I love the fact that some Indians (especially young people) are actually participating in the lion dance, etc., and not just standing around watching. Let everyone join in the fun and experience the joy, regardless of nationalities!
Thanks for sharing. It is eye-opening to see Chinese in India celebrate New Year. Very warm to see tradition is kept. All the best in the year of Dragon and Happy Chinese New Year!
Happy Chinese New Year - Are all Chinese Hakka? I'm originally from Mauritius and most of us are Hakkas. We also eat fish balls on CNY eve too. The siew mai looks exactly the same as what we eat in Mauritius
No. Hakka is a distinct linguistic group that had ubderwent at least five waves of southward migration from the centre of ancient chinese civilisation around the Yellow River. From the southern regions like Jiangxi, Fujian n Guangzhou, they eventually migrated abroad n made up a significant part of the Chinese diaspora.
As a Hakka-Indonesian, I can’t be more glad to see my fellow clansmen were having a good time in India.🎉❤. Heard plenty of Hakka dialect here with plenty of Indian twang and English words here and there 😊.
Happy Chinese New Year to you. I know that there is a Chinese community in Kolkata and the majority are Hakka from Moiyen. Thanks for sharing and showing how they celebrated the new year. I could understand the Hakka conversation (about making a video and you said you don't have the time) because I am a Moiyen Hakka in Malaysia. The "Red pork", "Steam chicken" are the same Hakka dishes here too. Very similar celebration too...Although in different countries, it is same people, same roots under the same sky. All the best. Cheers.
From previous videos that I watched a couple of years ago, I found out that the Chinese population in Kolkata has been dwindling over the years. Many have migrated to other countries. I visited India and the city in 1971 when it was still known as Calcutta. There I met a group of Chinese girls all looking pretty in their sarees and speaking Hindi among themselves. It is good to see that they integrated well into Indian society while maintaining their traditional practices and customs. Thank you for showing us how the Chinese community in Kolkata celebrate Chinese New Year.
thanks for sharing ..feels so good to see my community celebrating CNY in kolkata. When I grew up in the 60's and 70's we had such a great time. There was over 25,000 chinese in kolkata. Just curious, do the Chinese in India marry out side of their race? N if they do, what becomes of their children? Here in Malaysia we called them Chindian.
@@sharonsoon4866 Yes.. There're many Chinese here in Indian marrying outside of our own race..Some to Indian, some to northeast Indian.. We dont call them Chindian though..
They are safer in India than in China...bcoz nobody going to detain them even if they criticize Indian government or Modi...unlike China where people can't even vote....

Happy Chinese New Year!!! This is the first video of a Chinese community in India that I have seen. It is so rare to see videos of Chinese people living in India.

Even though I am not Chinese, I cringed at the sight of this man rummaging through the roast pork. Then again when he digged through the sweet pork, looking for a choice piece. I have enough Chinese friends around the world to know about the do's and don'ts at a Chinese dinner. Also it is taboo to spear food with your chopsticks. And if you like a particular piece of meat on the serving plate, just zoom in visually and pick it up. I guess it is considered ill-mannered only outside Kolkata to rummage through food in a dish. Cheers to a Happy Year of the Dragon.
Well congratulations on having enough Chinese friends around the world.. first of all this video was recorded at my sister’s place having lunch with my own family.. when we step out of the house we behave appropriately and we follow all the table manners, that is why we wear pyjamas at home and proper clothing when we’re out 🤷🏻♂️

Shame. They should see the amusing side of the dog wanting to be part of the festival and let the dog be part of it. Instead they took an abusive way to treat it. This unfortunate incident has turned me off of this joyful celebration.
Hmm.. everybody was in a festive mood and don’t worry.. the dog is totally fine.. the dog was actually feeling very comfortable with them because these people are the ones who take care of the stray dogs there.. they feed them.. the dogs totally fine 👍🏻
