    For a limited time, buy any of our mousepads or mouse mats on store.gamersnexus.net/ and it will be signed by Steve and Andrew. Purchases like this help support all of our content, but especially videos like our recent Electrophoretic Deposition factory tour and our planned documentary projects. If the mouse mat or pad says “autographed” in the drop-down, it will be signed. Check upload date to ensure video was recent, as this may have expired.

    In my experience, Noctua's Redux fans have a particularly hummy sound profile, especially when they have something (like case rails) obstructing them from the front. I hope that once you get your fan testing system up and running, you can also do frequency analysis for fan noise so that specificities like that reach people for whom that might matter.

    • @GamersNexus
      @GamersNexus  3 года назад +380

    Noctua actually has committed to lifetime free brackets for many years, and they don't just send you brackets for new CPUs. If you bought a platform-specific cooler (such as the NH-L9i/NH-L9a) and swapped to another platform, you can also request a free bracket set. I bought the NH-L9i which is for 115x a few years ago and upgraded to AM4 this year, they sent me a set of brackets for free. It took a few weeks but can't complain over free stuff ;)

    I think the additional cost of pretty much all Noctua coolers over other brands is justified by their want/goal for a more sustainable PC industry - even when that is reflected by something as simple as sending out new mounting hardware to customers. I know most people ignore everything besides pure performance, but over the years, I've come to appreciate build-quality, quality of the company's support-services and ease-of-use quite a lot. This may not be the best in class, but I've had very good experiences with Noctua's support and I find their mounting-system *SO* fricking much better than everything else I've had the displeasure of dealing with in the past. I guess one could call these "intangibles" and I am of the opinion that too few people pay any attention to them when making purchasing decisions.

The last several I've bought have moved into new systems when I upgraded (currently is an NH-U12S which I bought gently used on eBay and saved at last $20). I like how they provide new mounting hardware if requested, or you can buy new mounting hardware off Amazon or Newegg for about $7.99 for either Intel or AMD CPUs. The mounting hardware has always been a selling point to me. One of the most straightforward, simple installations of any cooler I've used, you have to wonder why other vendors continue to make mounting an ordeal (I have noticed a few now using a similar mount). I'm still using every Noctua fan and cooler I've ever bought.
      While I've thrown away a lot of other brands because they no longer work. So it's significantly cheaper in the long run.

      @@unitedfools3493 They're quality. But so are many other brands.
      My BeQuiet, Arctic and Corsair fans have all lasted so far.
      What brands did you have issues with?

    I love Noctua's default colors. Reminds of Cinnabons. :)

    Going with Noctua's excellent support history is worth the price premium for their products. They sent me updated brackets for old products instead me having to buy a new cooler. I also got a fan replaced after it started making bearing noise and it was an updated, quieter version of a previous fan with rubber absorption pads. And, of course, the mounting system is just really easy to utilize and work with.
    Noctua is great.

    for funzies while waiting for my NH-D15 Chromax i put liquid metal on the Wraith cooler my 3800x came with. Got the sucker up to 4.7GHz all cores at the ear busting max ~2900rpm max, it was mostly stable under normal use and gaming while staying under well under 70c. But settled at 4.5GHz as a rock solid clock. After a few days i got the Noctua cooler and now under full load you don't notice the ramp up to ~800rpm (from 200)

    One of the best Reddit comment I read about Noctua:
    I found some used ones for $20-40 when I was looking for a spare cooler. The only part that breaks on them is the seal of freshness on the box.

    I go with Noctua over and over because of fit and finish. They look good and perform well longer than the cheaper products. The fact that they gave me a mounting kit for AM4 was a benefit of the kind that will bring me back again.

    Can confirm Noctua are true to their word about free upgrade kits, currently using an NH-D14 I bought 10 years ago with my Ryzen 5900X.
