In this lesson, I'm talking about my way of working with water control and how it is suitable for realistic watercolor painting. Because water control depends on technique, approach, subject, and size of the painting - I know it is a bit overwhelming 😀 but lets try to solve this big issue with WATER!!!
You can make suggestions on your main painting issues, will be uploading these Lessons once a week!

Thank you for this informative lesson. I like to see things up close. I practice and practice but if I do not have enough water, then it dries before I can add on the same layer, another color to softly blend and not get a hard edge. Very frustrating. Or it is a wet on dry and I add another color against what I just painted and trying to get soft edges where the two colors meet. Sometimes paint is too wet and it will spider out to my second color when I add second color on same layer, next to the first color I laid down. Very frustrating but I am practicing and practicing.
You are already doing great 👍 by practicing and moving forward. Hope this video will help you. Also check out the Lesson about Tomato color mixing. I explain also first layers, smooth layers and lifting technique
So nice to be remembered all these exemples. Even after 2 years I have problems to control or the water or the concentration of the pigment. Sometimes to much water and sometimes to watery pigment or not enough so that's my big problems! Thank you for this video.
Amazing that you find it helpful, maybe something from this video will help you 💝
Thank you. Excellent presentation. Very Helpful. Now I understand what
I have to work on, and how.
Glad it was helpful!😊
Sooo helpful! But my question: what if the paper starts to dry before your first layer of pigment is all put down on the paper? This happens to me often
Hello Diane! There is a special medium for slower water drying time. Check in the online art shops - medium for blending, watercolor medium for water
Thank you so much. I have 2 questions -
Which brushes you prefer? Please share the specifications.
How to pick pigment? Is it direct from the pan or you mix the colours on the palette?
Brushes that I use 95% of the time are these www.kristineart.com/shop/p/watercolor-brush
They last for a very long time
I always first mix watercolors in the color palette and then apply to paper
Can you do tips for trees 😁
