Religious women are some of the worst in my experience. They expect you to ignore their pasts because "Jesus forgave them" and get really upset when you don't. It's just another method of validation and excusal for them.
actually they did studies that people in prison are actually taken better care of than people in old folks homes. Cant remember which area it was done in but I believe that is the average results across the board.

Having worked in a old folks home I can guarantee it. If prisoners were treated that way they would all go completely crazy and guards wouldn't be able to do a thing.

You are right about a relationship evolving to being about, taking care of each other. My wife of 33 years and I know we have each other's best interests at heart (and soul). Either of us would fare pretty poorly without the other in a short amount of time. Years ago I thought about what I would do if my wife was incapacitated (such as confined to a wheel chair) and had lost her vitality. Immediately, I determined I would stay with her and take care of her. How she treats me every day, I know she would do the same for me. I know VERY WELL, the grass is greener on MY side of the fence.

While it's easy to have empathy for those women who were lied to and now are in an undesirable situation, you have to realize that men were lied to as well. We were told that the nice guy gets the girl, be yourself, and a bunch of other crocks of crap from movies that were the exact opposite of what works. 95% of the time when I hear someone say they are open minded, it becomes apparent very quickly that they don't know what objective reality is and have never contemplated it.
I've brought this up to people and watched their brains short circuit, some just glazed over and never became clear again, others as the conversation progressed and we categorized things that are objective and things that are subjective you can see their eyes become more clear.
To answer your question, it is because they have never contemplated this concept and are like a blind person feeling their way through a hoarders garage trying to understand the layout of a garden.
