It looks like a sprouting broccoli. It has become popular at the farmer's market here in the US. It is smaller and very tender. Once you pick the center stalk, more stalks will sprout off the main stalk.
Emma best leave the garlic to dry fully spread out with small gap between each one before plaiting otherwise the wet stalks won't dry out and will rot the other ones, also keep close eye on your broccoli in this heat it can bolt to seed, better to harvest small then not at all, keep watering and in a week or so it should be ready
Hi, Emma, your Broccoli is your summer crop, sow now to get an autumn crop and sow cabbage and cauliflower in August for a spring cropping. Well done by the way 👏
Emma why are you cutting the rhubarb to harvest it? I live in the USA. We’ve had a beautiful harvest of rhubarb every year for the last 45 years by pulling it from the plant. Tugging on a stalk will cause it to break loose at the base of the stem. There will be healthy Re growth the same growing season. That may be the reason your plant is small and spindly. Good luck and keep trying new methods. I believe gardening is a continuing experiment. ❤
I’ve missed a few weeks Emma, so catching up now! Loved seeing you succeed with growing garlic 🧄 , and the joy when you saw that there were good ones! I’ve never tired to grow it, I should try!! Nice plait!
Can’t beat that freshly harvested garlic smell. Next time use a trowel to lift them up. They will store better if they aren’t damaged by dragging them out x
Emma, please use a fork or trowel to loosen soil before pulling your garlic, let the leave dry completely and ho brown before plaiting them. Great crop though.
Emma don’t snap the bind weed if you gently dig an inch or two into the ground you can find the stem it grows from. Snapping it off promotes new growth in other areas. Cut the broccoli off and eat it, the little ones will grow. Any broccoli or cauliflower is the start of flower of the plant if you leave it it will flower blossoms then it will seed and die.
Oh Emma, we are not having a heatwave in the UK. Scotland is cold and windy and I think the North of England isn’t too much better 🥴. I wish I had even half of your sun just now up here. 🥺
Hi Emma. Love your vlogs. Such a ray of sunshine. First time for garlic myself, not a bad harvest, followed your mantra, bang it in and see what happens 😂.
Always lovely seeing your vlogs!! Yes, that broccoli needs picked likely - when the head gets "loose" it's about to flower. Cauliflower might have more time - particularly since less slugs out right now with the heat. So awesome - I love finding surprises to harvest!!! 🎉🎉🎉 Great garlic too! 🧄🧄🧄❤
Think you are meant to leave the garlic dry before platting it Emma. It needs to be dry otherwise rot will set as parts of the stems can't dry out. That rot with then spread down to the bulbs.
Broccoli is so high up - I'd cut it and bring home before it starts flower. As for cauliflower - those heads need darkness to get ready. That are only leaves that need sun, but heads need darkness - that's why it is growing so big leaves so you have an opportunity to take care of them - just tie 🪢 those leaves above the head to protect them from getting yellow and yacky. Obviously you tie them in a way that they have room to grow bigg enough and then check them every few days if they are.
Hi I love your videos! Your scarecrow "Harry" makes me laugh. Cut off the top your your broccoli so your side shoots will come thru. (USA-Philly, Pennsylvania)
Pick your broccoli Emma from the top Emma then from sides of plant also fold over leafs of your cauliflower or it will go to seed. Don’t cut rhubarb you pull it. Also you will need to leave your rhubarb for a year now that you have moved it at the wrong time x😢
Yipeeee Garlic,Brocoli and a flippin Cauliflower its happening Emma ❤ l would definitely say its the Foxes 🦊 we get them doing the same thing, they lay on my Dahlias and pul up onions playing around, seen tham for myself.Have a great weekend 😊
My cauliflower and broccoli are also growing. I think they've had the ideal conditions for them In the rubbish weather so they're the healthiest I've ever grown 🤣
I planted garlic and waited for it to be ready this year but when I pulled it up it was black and disgusting so I said okay I'll try again and I planted some more and it looked like it's doing the same thing so I'm going to plant garlic in containers
Speaking of destructive animals, I just discovered one of my chickens laid some eggs amongst my bush beans. That explains why they’re looking scraggy. 🙄
Rhubarb leaves would get off at this time of year anyways. Give him quite a bit of feeding - your nettle tea would do the best for the rest of summer. And in the autumn you may give him some bonemeal and compost. Then it might be just fine for next spring. 13:42 But please do NOT cut it with scissors - rhubarb leaves need to be twist and pull. Otherwise infection can get easily in.
Rhubarb should be pulled and not cut. Pull it from the base and then cut the green leaf away once pulled. Pulling stimulates fresh new growth. Sorry if been told before.
sweetcorn is the fox i came back from holiday and another plot holder saw the fox finishing eating 24 of my largest corn plants maybe for the sugar i dont know.
I’ve already had some new potatoes, beetroot, garlic, spring onions and carrots from both my garden and allotment. Today we’ve put a new roof on the shed at my allotment. I’m just deciding what seeds to plant next to start filling gaps. My peas and beans have been a disaster. PICK THE BROCCOLI AND CAULIFLOWER BEFORE IT GOES TO SEED EMMA! Are you sure there was anything wrong with those garlic bulbs?
As someone who just witnessed her cat kill her plum tree: Rocky was probably chasing a bug and jumped on top of the sunflower and corn in an effort to catch said bug 😢
The garlic plants where most if not all of the leaves are dried up will be rotted in the ground. Only about the lower half of the leaves should be dried. When you were pulling up those where the top half of the leaves were still green, the bulbs were intact.🧄
FYI, that garlic plait might work, but you may find that some garlic falls out as it shrinks a dries. Usually, people plait garlic and onions between two strands of string. They make a loop with a piece of string and then plait the garlic between the loop. 🤙🏻👍🏻
It is lovely to see the joy on your face pulling up the garlic.

They need to be fully dried out before you can plait the garlic
Emma, FYI your supposed to pull and twist the Rhubarb off to break it from root. Cutting is not good for the plant. 🌻
You're supposed to wait until the garlic is completely dry before braiding. You risk it not drying out all the way.
Hi, Emma, your Broccoli is your summer crop, sow now to get an autumn crop and sow cabbage and cauliflower in August for a spring cropping. Well done by the way 👏
You need to undo your plait. The dampness will encourage rot to set in. You need to let it completely dry out before plaiting
lovely Vlog, its a pleasure to watch you tend your allotment 🙂 xx
Coucou 👋🏻 👋🏻 👋🏻
Superbe vidéo 😊
Excellent Vlog as always Emma. And its a thumbs up from me for the skirt! 😉
You're very industrious... just keep on planting no matter what... Watching from glecious tv channel your new friend
Loving all the backseat gardeners in these comments 😅, you're doing great and your plot is delightful. You do you 🥰
Nice braiding Emma and thanks for another delightful diary episode.
Thanks you for the tip of pulling potatoes. I have injured my back so this morning used your tip to get potatoes.

It's just called summer, great time of the year every year.
More likely to be a badger that’s flattening your crops, your plots are looking great.
Your plots are looking great Emma, love watching your videos.x
No heatwave in Scotland, unfortunately 😢

Put a dark bin over the top of your rhubarb, itl grow fast trying to reach the sun and taste less bitter!
Your garden is growing along nicely…well done!
I felt your joy about blooming dahlia. So happy for you as it has been a challenge to keep them alive for you this year x
Oh Emma, we are not having a heatwave in the UK. Scotland is cold and windy and I think the North of England isn’t too much better 🥴. I wish I had even half of your sun just now up here. 🥺
Thank you Emma your always full of enthusiasm and it's a pleasure to see your video, s 🎉🎉
Emma ..Great video as always how about giving Harry some grass seeds in his head turn him into a grass head scarecrow 😊x
Prick out the top of the broccoli plants and you will get more broccoli
You can eat the white rot ones- but they wont keep 😃 Just get them et... Roasted whole bulbs are good x
Thank you

If you put some stick at different angles, it might be less inviting for the animals to sit in your veg patches.
It looks like sprouting broccoli. The heads are smaller but you harvest more often. Remover the crown and another crown will grow and so on
Love your videos, you inspired me to film my own little 'Allotment Diaries' that I only share with my husband on WhatsApp :D
That dahlia takes after its owner ❤ stunning
white rot can live in the ground a long time ...a lot have started growing garlic in large pots of compost
I have morning glories in my yard and it does the same thing to my plants.
Hi Emma, keep up the good work. From Paul in Northern Ireland.

Great cauli tip!
Garlic tastes good fresh too! 🤩 The reason for drying is to store them for winter 🧄
Emma your so funny you have grow food for your dinner cut it and eat and enjoy 🎉🎉
Fantastisch Good work emmas you the best te moostiun te planting te Bloems thans te video Top weekend grootjes ❤ 👍⛅🥦🌿☘️🥒💐🌰
You look so happy to see you have broccoli and cauliflower actually growing fantastic.
Send some heat upto Scotland, still have the central heating on up here it's freezing and wet 😢 still waiting on our summer 😢
Hi I love your videos! Your scarecrow "Harry" makes me laugh. Cut off the top your your broccoli so your side shoots will come thru. (USA-Philly, Pennsylvania)
Harry needs a hat in that heat!
Love it too❤
Yay 🙌 isn’t it great when you harvest something you’ve grown. Well done Emma. Good for you having a go at plaiting garlic 🧄 👍🏻
Hello Emma your video was lovely and your alottment is looking great. And your garlic was very nice to well done for growing it.

Congratulations on the brocoli and cauliflowers! So amazing. I'm so pleased for you.😊
Always pick your sweet peas they are beautiful
Bless your heart! The excitement is delight is so endearing. Look at you with that great garlic harvest. Well done.🧄
My cauliflower and broccoli are also growing. I think they've had the ideal conditions for them In the rubbish weather so they're the healthiest I've ever grown 🤣
Bindweed i s a royal P.I.T.A and no matter what you use, its hard to kill it.
Doing what you can without passing out is a good mission!! I was a shade of tomato at the allotment the other day too, it’s warm work! 🌞🌞🌞
Well done, Emma! I'm so proud of you. Beautiful garlic. You're becoming a pro. 😊
Great bit of platting there Emma !
Congratulations on the broccoli & cauliflower!
It’s green sprouting broccoli
I would not use sizeres on the rhubarb, but that's only from what I have been told. You pull rhubarb not cut it
I planted garlic and waited for it to be ready this year but when I pulled it up it was black and disgusting so I said okay I'll try again and I planted some more and it looked like it's doing the same thing so I'm going to plant garlic in containers

Your videos are amazing and funny 😂
Your plait looks pretty good to me Emma 😊
Love the garlic 😋 xx
Dry out the garlic cloves and freeze them.
Hi you great update I have never grown flowers I'm a veg man any tips for me please reply ooo ta as always happy gardening Richardx
. Do you get rabbits on the alotment ?
Hot days are best for hoeing the weeds will wither and die very quickly
Never cut rhubarb stems. Pull them off from the base so the plant knows the stems are gone and will grow more 😊

Make sure you dry your garlic somewhere warm, dry and sunny Emma. It will store better. You plat the garlic once it’s dried I think.
Could that be a broccolini? I have found them easier to grow than broccoli. Apparently broccolini is a hybrid of broccoli and gai lan.
❤
You have become my favorite gardening channel! And Emma, buck up! It's 102° Farenheit in Oklahoma, USA! We will survive!
Maybe next time you could cut off the rhubarb stalks closest to the carrots. They would live together and be friends ❤
As someone who just witnessed her cat kill her plum tree: Rocky was probably chasing a bug and jumped on top of the sunflower and corn in an effort to catch said bug 😢
You don't cut rhubarb you pull the stalk off the plant
Not Rocky, possibly a fox, more likely a small deer or badger?
The broccoli is definitely bolting. You have had weird weather, it's probably confused
👍🌞🥵💚
😂 riek in dutch means pitchfork😅
Really like your vids but heatwave 😂😂come on ...was 2 days at 24 degrees and now back to cold and clouds and slugs and snails

Do you have any badgers near your allotment site? 🦡 The damage could be them, maybe?
