Good video. I work for WF Seafood. The deal is a weekly promotion. We get the oysters usually the day of or before for the promo. It is a great deal, not for our margin but for your pocket. Have you tried the skinny dipper or west robin yet?
I would just go off of shell quality alone before the name. Where I'm at, a giant pile of Misty Point oysters goes untouched every Friday because the shells are dark brown (in a muddy, grimy way and not in the deep slate / reddish bands that you'd expect) and full of little holes (barnacle drill marks or some other parasite). They look and smell old so people don't venture to try them out (there are two other varieties that look cleaner and bigger for the same price...go figure). The Atlantic Blue Point oysters I always buy later in the day (around 4PM onwards), and usually the FIFO batches are already sold off from the morning and noon rush. That usually gets me the newer ones.
Annapolis is such a cute area! It’s very “bay” like but not like any other bay. The area is truly adorable and the vibe there is super calm and a perfect place to meet friendly ppl and eat awesome food! Seafood is better out there than in my area… NoVA, it’s for sure easier to find fresh seafood over there!
I got some yesterday, first time shucking and it went well. I watched a lot of your videos before and couldn’t take it anymore I had to get some 😂. So glad I did they were great. Have you ever had other animals inside? One had some shelled creature on the outside and it was still alive when I pulled it off. Then I found a little squid looking thing inside one. Kinda weirded me out but I still ate the oyster. M Edit: that crab thing is exactly what I had. Good to know they aren’t toxic to humans
I've had the pea crabs steamed before in oysters and they taste good but a tiny bit crunchy lol I miss .20cents oyster night at Tarks oyster bar in ft Lauderdale! I have been told it's a real dive dump now tho.
Our area just got a whole foods i haven't been but its nice to know. I love oyster shooters. Little clamato/red hot sauce and horseradish and a squeeze of lemon. I no longer put alcohol with raw seafood. Quite a few years ago i downed about 4 dozen oysters and some snow crab and shrimp and a few rounds of frozen pink lemonade (basically a long island ice tea but pink lemonade instead of cola) i was spectacularly sick later in the night lol. All i could think was "what a bloody waste of good seafood😭"

Eat the pea crab. They are sweet and a hidden treasure when you find them.

4 dozen seems like more of a problem than the alcohol, but definitely a deadly combo mixed together
TRY THE ISLAND CREEKS. THE BEST. IMO.
Standish oysters are grown in the same bay! I grew up in the town where they both come from.
I'm in Beltsville, md gonna see what it's like . Closest WF is Riverdale, md
Going to try to get sum today. Will be my 1st time shucking...wish me luck
Good luck!
Do you know what it’s the Pc crab that’s causing it but you know what eat the pea crab

I wonder if Hawaii has that $1 deal 😂 probably not cause we’re special hahaha
😂 I’d be curious to know
Can't say for big island but as far as Oahu and Maui go, Whole Foods on both island have 12 oysters for $15 deal every Friday.
