    As a machinist who loves all things involved with guns and the suppression of them, these conversations tickles my tism. I like what you guys do with the innovation side of things. I don't think a lot of people understand machining or manufacturing processes. I pick up on things that you guys say when you talk about your process that is used and understand the cost you incur. I noticed that for the first time when classic firearms came and did a factory tour of your facility. I know some of the people commenting on your may possibly be customers. But there are a lot of people out there who claim to have suppressor knowledge and simply don't. Keep working on and pushing the limits of this industry. It needs it. I wish I could get into the gun and suppressor, industry, to help change it. If you think about it, for the most part, we're still running a lot of things on 50-80 year old technology. Advancements will always be debated. That is why you should know you're headed in the right direction.

    No denying KB has a key role in some awesome projects in the past, but I don't think Q is on the level of KAC or Surefire on anything but price, hoping to see a change with Kevin pretty clearly taking a bit of a step back. I'm no fan of OCL cans as they're super gassy, but I'm pretty confident they'll last the SOCOM test, it's a pretty chunky can and have ran a belt with it. The worst part of the OCL stuff is the Rearden direct thread mounts that come with them, mine blew off on my MK18 and so did my buddies, I guess it's a pretty common occurrence according to the owner of OCL so I'm sure KB will love to hear that lol.

    • @Gunslapss
      @Gunslapss 12 дней назад +3

      @@Metalkgood Q is essentially the strike industries of the high end firearms world. Is what they make "good" ? Sure, but that's subjective. It's for a niche crowd who like the brand, and see a price tag and perceive it as good or the best because they were told it was. They talk alot about how they have engineers, etc. like other serious companies don't, but they all do, they're comparing themselves to the small no-name companies in this industry since those are their competitors. A price tag doesn't make something as good, imagine if Q never posted on youtube, social media, etc. do you think they'd sell anything? No. They're great at marketing but LMT and KAC could never post another video on youtube again and they would forever be in demand and continue to actually push the envelope without having to tell you they have. Q is simply in it's own niche of selling to a mix of the demographic that likes expensive sneakers or the guys who buy cabot handguns, not the serious end users or guys out training often. Just the reality of it.

    Why I was so drawn to hubs/QD isn’t to quickly take off and swap - it’s for peace of mind not worrying about the silencer starting ti back off and have a catastrophic failure. That’s why I love a 3 lug so much. The thought of worrying about having to retighten a can on a direct thread sucks. So a locking piece on a QD solves that, for me.

      @@armorers_wrenchso here’s my question though - is there a certain torque spec? Nothing came in the box. I hand tightened it. It did not back off, but I could just loosen it with hand pressure. So what’s to say it won’t back off? It’s an honest question. Because a QD locking mechanism won’t let you loosen it.

      @@Steve_MP5are you asking about the tapered muzzle or the plan B mount? Basically you go hand tight and then put in one extra uga duga for good measure.
      I have also heard that you can shoot a few rounds and get it warm and then put in the extra uga duga.
      But any tapered screw mechanism*should* be fairly easy to remove. If it's really hard to remove then you probably over torqued it.

    Im not trying to suck anyone off but I really look up to Kevin.
    I'd love to see you guys make a budget suppressor like you guys were talking about. I think you guys would completely change the market if you put your heads together. Even a budget Q can would be high quality. Try to do it for $800, that way its a grand with the stamp. I bet you could make a pretty decent can for $800.
    I legitimately just want to see what you can come up with.

      I agree but if they are going budget they should compete with the budget priced cans. $600ish if you can afford a 1000 dollar can you can a afford a 1400 dollar can that is the southpaw

    I find it hard to get useful info out of pew science since they’re inconsistent in what they test with. The Trash Panda and Thunder Chicken were tested with .308. Other 7.62 cans were tested with 300 BLK. Hard to get any meaningful comparison out of the rankings then.

      he actually will end up testing them with all the same caliber, but he takes certain calibers at a time, its weird and I said the same thing till it was explained to me. on his site you can actually filter what round and you will see all the cans he has tested with a specific round so far

      Pew Science isn't the "Arbiter of Truth" that all his fangirls hype him up to be. Sorry to break it to the reddit nerds. Just like everyone else, he DOES have his own bias, and like what Kev & Jay of Q, said in this video, Jay of Pew Science claimed at the beginning that he wouldn't take any money from people & suppressor companies and then proceeds to start doing exactly just that! And that's the day I stopped taking him (Jay/Pew Science) serious.

    Weird how people get mad at people reviewing guns when they receive them for T&E without money but they turn around a take his word as gospel after he receives the silencer and a l paycheck. Just my opinion. It’s also disheartening coming from a scientific background to see all of the missed opportunities and claims of scientific processes when the data points are not repeatable or even peer reviewed. It’s The Dunning Kruger effect in full swing.
    In his defense, he seems like a decent dude but my goodness, if he really claimed to be doing the most important thing in small arms history, I’m done 🤣. This is a very subjective field; buy something you enjoy and fucking just use it.
