I thought about the 1/2 chance due to the game having luck already and if it didnt have it, it would essentially be DNA but more broken + you can have the joker that increases the odds of this type of effects to make it busted still, you can literally break runs with it.

The bus was already worth more than it and was only going to continue to get stronger. it is not that hard not to play face cards, especially if you're building your deck around avoiding them. The castle was also worth more than the half joker at the time, because the chips on pair were only around 50, while the castle had well over 100, which makes the castle in effect a X3 multiplier. Scaling jokers are king in balatro, they are the key to consistently winning higher stakes.
If I had a dollar for every streamer I follow that posted an edited VOD of them playing Balatro with a self-depreciating title, I'd have $2, which isn't a lot but it's surprising that it happened twice. Love to see more people playing Balatro!
