- First single from my new record "The Sweetwater Sessions"
I've revisited some of my favorite songs and re-recorded them with a live in the studio feel at the gorgeous Sweetwater Studios in Ft. Wayne, IN.
With Sean Driscoll, Nick D'Virgilio, Phil Naish and Dave Martin.
Full album coming July 10. Giddy Up.
Love this when you sing it with Davey Knowles.........brilliant
Dang! This is the best version I've heard... like I'm hearing it for the first time. Jonatha just keeps getting better and better. Thanks so much for sharing this version on RUclips. Made my week. Looking forward to your new release!
It's because...we don't know ,what to...do❤
What a great tune and Jonatha sounds amazing! Cant wait to sit down and listen to the whole record.....major congrats!
What a great song!remind me of an old girlfriend, thumbs up!
I bought an old house in 2001 and I had to paint the whole thing and my mom came in and I was playing your songs full blast and she was like what the fuck can you just shut up? I was like no I love this girl so much - later, I saw you at the Syracuse landmark theatre and yelled at a request but of course it wasn’t your setlist so you yelled out no, which was sort of hilarious. So thrilled I was so thrilled that you had interacted with me. Just know that one person who has a lot of taste and plays out thinks you are the bomb. I forward your songs to everyone. It’s hard to pick one, but probably taste of danger is my favorite as the Devil’s got the wheel.
this made my day today!! i'll try to not be so rude next time!! hahaha. and sure enough, the devil's got the wheel. xoxo jb
If your rich...or me...what wood you ...do?❤
The original version of this from The Works is among my favourite songs of all time, but this is a great revisit. Looking forward to the album in July!
Love is...stealthy
Strong version of the song! This is the first time I've seen two people (who don't live together) in the same room in a very long time. I envy your access to the grand piano.
Very nice, Jonatha.
I've heard a number of these songs written to lyrics drawn from Woody Guthrie's unfinished material, and this is by far the best. This lyric is so contemporary and so reflective of the chances he actually took as a person and as an artist. His conflating of the creative leap and abandonment of convention with the longing of the masses for liberation is fully present in this song.
And Jonatha Brooke has captured the emotion of that sentiment more deeply with each repetition of the tag line. Just an amazing collaboration over the ages that is both a resurrection and an updating of Guthrie's original work.
this showcases how I’m still in true ♥️ love with jonatha and everything she does.
