  • Guildford Town Centre Crit 2022 - what can I say?! What an absolutely brutal race, which was full gas from start to finish. There is absolutely no where to hide, with pure legs and lung pain.
    This race has everything: technical corners, cobbled sections and kerb in a corner, what's not to love? I highly recommend racing Guildford TCR or any town centre cycle race, they are mega fun and an incredible atmosphere, with all of the supporters but there is no doubt about it, they are absolutely brutal.
    I hope you enjoyed the race and please do Like & Subscribe!

    Top bombing! So good to see the footage from front and rear cameras - really gives us armchair racers a feel for what a town centre crit is like to ride 😮

    I rode this as a first year senior cat 2 (from my junior results) in the 123 race more than 35 years ago. Brutal doesn't begin to describe it! lol
    5th is excellent. Well done :)

    Epic mate. Loved this video! Well deserved. You paid attention and that’s what it’s all about half the time! Amazing from the Kingston guy too! I walked past him as I got off the track and thought to myself “damn this his race over too”. So I’m glad he pulled it back!

      Thanks mate 👌 shame you had a mechanical but look forward to seeing you do it again next year 💪 Dom from Kingston is an absolute beast to get back on the podium after a mechanical is mind blowing 🤯

      @@GiorgioCoppolaCycling yea incredible. Rory Townsend had something similar in his race with a puncture. Swapped bikes and chased them came 5th 🤯 Mind blowing ha. September 24th is another town centre crit in Winchester 👀

    I raced this back in my Cat 1 prime and I said I would never again. I was never a crit specialist but this was ballistic. They re-paved the cobbled highstreet a few years ago and it's much, much smoother now. Back then I rode it on an aero Venge and I was terrified of breaking it going flat-out. The bottom corner is extremely high-speed and on a downhill so there was tonnes of crashes. The surface is cut-up and potholed so the bike is NEVER settled or perfectly on balance.
    I still wake up in sweats at night remembering this stupid circuit.

      😂😂 I thought the road surface would be worse but didn’t actually find it to bad but it’s a seriously brutal race… couldn’t imagine doing it for an hour in the e12 race 😅

    That’s me in the Paceline kit. You absolutely right, I also saw we’d been lapped but sprinted one lap too late! Great race though and thanks for the solid pulls you did (which you are v modest about in the vid)!

    5th place well deserved mate, what absolute carnage, thanks so much for video, great to get the perspective of the other riders. Obviously you can tell by the expressions on my face I was feeling about the same as you!

      Absolute carnage but bloody loved it… well once it was over 😂 I think everyone on our group was hanging on, the pace just didn’t ease at all but a strong sprint on the last lap from you 💪

    Another great video - that race was mental!! OMG kind of like the idea of the town centre crit but jeez scary as anything!! You did so well to avoid all those mechanicals! Organisers need to do a better job of signalling - not really very good that it was not at all clear when the race finished, you absolutely deserve the place for getting that bit right! Maybe signage or something, appreciate that you have special permission to show this, hope the organisers can find a good solution.

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  2 года назад

      Thanks Mark! It’s an incredible race can’t recommend it enough 💪 they told us before hand that it’s our responsibility to keep an eye out and watch for 3 laps to go if we are lapped…. So the confusing was probably our fault 👎
      I think this is because it would be almost impossible to signal to different riders during the race as the field gets so spread out and there are riders everywhere and could likely make it confusing for the leader with different boards etc 😅 It’s pretty hard to even keep track of the leader with all the other riders 😂

    Is this course not a bit ridiculous? So poorly put together, doesn't feel like it's designed by anyone who's ever ridden a bike, let alone a crit. So short as well

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  Год назад

      It’s a must ride crit that’s the excitement of it, probably one of the greatest and hardest crit courses in the UK… absolutely no let up from start to finish 😅
