I cried when I tasted new assault because the OG was my favorite thing. I ended up buy upwards of 200 of the OGs by just gas station hopping and buying all the ones I could find. I’m baffled that they changed a flavor that was around as for so long and selling so well. Haven’t bought one since and now I didn’t see the new ones sold as much. 😕 great video man 👍

I do think the OG can was nice looking. They did try and make it look alike, but I still prefer the good old one! I've not had the new one, but the old one was amazing, and I've heard they've done this new one bad... The old one got discontinued in Denmark YEARS ago, and this still hasn't come out yet, so we don't have it available anymore...

I tried this when they first re-released it. It was by far my least favorite monster flavor. It's actually still available as far as I know, just not at very many locations. The only place I know of is a gas station in my town.
I’m from Canada and we have had it ever since it released and everytime I see it on the shelf it’s never empty, definitely not a great flavour compared to other monster flavours

From my comments I have heard it is still around just hard to find unless you know where to look.
@CaffeineMan1 Right, it's not readily available anywhere. But I've seen it in very select gas stations. Probably just selling the rest of the stock.
Haven't tried the old one but I actually like this flavour. Has a great flavour to it & gives you that extra kick. It is in my top 3 for best Monster flavours

I've never been a big fan of Monster Energy drinks. I will have one every once in a while, of the original green flavor. For me it's like fudge it is so rich that I can only have it occasionally. This monster assault is really good. There is one heck of a deal going on at my local dollar store for this flavor. $1.10 for two cans. For me it kind of has the taste of an old Sarsaparilla soda. Or potentially a slight taste of Jolt cola or RC cola. I don't know if it's just my taste buds but it seems like this flavor of monster has more carbonation than all of the others. As usual @CaffeineMan great video!
A lot of people were saying it does taste more like a generic cola. Just not as good as the original.
@caffeine man this is why you are the best energy drink reviewer out there because even if you don't like the company you put aside your own bias to review the new drinks from monster and I understand you because I stopped liking monster after what happened for them to acquire bang 5:54

I barely found it and hear me out I’m 21 now but I remember the original way back when I was like 11 or 12years old it was my favorite and the day it left I was looking for it everywhere I found it here in the sat the US in New Mexico las cruces at a dollar tree bought 8 of them just in case $1.25 each
Seems to be the larger consensus that says the older one was better.

I’m not saying it in every u.s state but at least in California it’s sold in dollar tree and other dollar stores I believe
Ive been hearing in my comments that it is in limited stores...Im curious if it is hitting Dollar Trees if that means it may be discontinued soon.

I have found the old cans in south central US before, but only in small gas stations. It always tasted like cherry bubblegum to me. Haven’t seen the new cans anywhere.
Apparently they have been spotted in a few places, about the same amount of times as Big Foot.

There are still some Monster Assault drinks in Iowa. It is very scarce though.

I've actually never seen the Assault drink anywhere and I've been drinking Monster for over 10 years...hmm....But the only Monster drink right now i like is that Orange Dreamsicle Reserve. They got rid of my all time favorite drink, the Khaos (I couldn't get into its replacement, the Khaotic). But I am a huge Reign fan. Reign makes some of the best drinks out there. :)
It's still sold in some European countries. I remember it being in Russia around the same time as Khaos, but both had been discontinued ages ago. I've seen a Serbian can being sold online, idk about other countries
Yeah, I was a big fan of the original Khaos and didnt like the revamped version. Monster has done a great job with their Reserve line though so I wonder if they plan to continue to expand into more flavors with it.

Was in heron foods today in england and there was legit a bin full of these selling for 69p each or two for £1. Seems nobody likes them..
This one tastes very similar to Lucozade Energy original

Normally me and Caffeine man have the same selection of energy drinks. If he says I can't find this in my area that's almost always true for me. This is the exception. In New York (downstate) they have these drinks. You just have to look a little bit hard.
I have heard that they are very hard to find but still around if you know where to look.

I never got cherry cola from old monster. To me it tasted like big red gum. This new one is just absolutely horrible. I got it not realizing they redid it and it was the first time I have emailed a place for a refund.

Man, this reminds me of Monster from ~15 years ago when monster had this and I think one called "Khaos" there was a purple one and maybe an orange one and they were all pretty good from what I remember. This was when full throttle was still doing their thing and Amp was changing around their design and (good flavors)...oh and NOS had a green can I never found again I think it was an apple flavor and not the current green one they have.
Now, to finish watching!
Yeah, I was a big fan of the original Khaos and didnt like the revamped version. I think I reviewed all of th NOS flavors as well although a lot have been discontinued since Coke handed it over to Monster.
A 7 is a pretty high score so not the worst
Well, only beating a couple of the colas... but a 7 is not something i would recommend to people. Ive come to realize my 1-10 scale is a but different than other peoples because I also put a decimal place in there.

I used to be big on Monster, but I can't stand any of their flavors anymore. Only the juice ones are still good, but I can never drink them because they all have 45698374623456 grams of sugar in them.
That Mango Loco was delicious but all that sugar probably helped!

Talking with a Coco Cola vender,,,I am hearing that Coke is buying Monster,(they own 20% now) and he thinks from the skuttlebutt that they will discontinue Bang~ Just thought I pass on the..err rumor. (I'll say) Interesting, I'd say.

I heard that Monster plans on discontinuing all but 12 of the Bang flavors by October but not sure how true that is either. In typical Monster fashion it seems 100% believable that they would discontinue that many.

The original assault was one of the first different monsters i tried when i was younger remembering it being great than kinda forgot about it and than saw some at dollar tree one day excited to again after not seeing them for so long and yep similar experience tasted like old flat coke pretty disappointing and i think it might be an area thing i see them around Va us occasionally in stores

Interesting. I know that other countries not only have restrictions on caffeine but also certain supplements, which is why its hard to find preworkout energy drinks in other countries.
Man, CaffeineMan drinking a Monster again....I might have to unsubscribe lol Only Joking. I hate the way Monster Beverage tookover Bang, But I can't deny Monster has a strong leadership in the energy drink market. Bought a reign a few weeks ago actually, that was good. I hate they ousted Bang, but if Bang had it's Ps and Qs in order, so a portion of the blame for Bang's downfall, was their own company, and plus with Bang out, and Jack left Bang, I don't have to financially support him anymore. So I will continue to purchase Monster, Reign, Nos, Full Throttle from time to time, but as far as main lines go, I will stick with Gfuel, C4, and Ghost, as they are now widely available in my area.
A lot of companies are making far superior drinks than Monster with additional ingredients to help with cognitive function. Monster, NOS and Full throttle just satisfy peoples need for caffeine and good flavors, which are usually the 2 biggest concerns for people when it comes to energy drinks, so it makes sense.... as well as a sugar fix, LOL!
Much like the McRib, this Monster flavor had to go away for a while for the sake of our health. lol

I also have to agree with your review. I never saw the cola aspect at all. When I first tried the original it tasted so strange to me. It grew on me. To me it was like cherry potpourri. I did have a happy accident though when I mixed Monster with Pepsi. It tasted just like the original. So I think there is a cola somewhere in there it's just very subtle. This new one is so watered down. What they need to bring back is Monster Heavy Metal! It's like a non alcoholic margarita.
I was drinking to that particular monster in the 2015-2016 era and it was legit the BEST monster energy drink it had a similar flavor like Dr.Pepper but even better it was like a Dr.Pepper on Steroids..
So I bought one today from a local night shop in my neighborhood and it tasted nothing like that AMAZING version of 2016. Unfortunately It got NERFED big time
