I purchase the G4s and like many other customers, I had issues with it leaning to one side or another. It was frustrating. It functioned well, but the lean was just annoying. I re-booted / recalibrated it many times and verified it was on the most current firmware. Good thing B and H knows about the issues (read their reviews) and gladly exchanged it for me.....now going with another manufacturer
Hi, ace review. I was wondering if you can get a mount for the GoPro session? I'm tempted by the Lanparte gimbal for that reason but I like the quality of the Feiyu. Would you say it's worth just getting the Lanparte?

Love to see a RC range test and actual video output where people are having personal issues on it god review for the consumer but in my eyes I personally love the older FY-G4,, in the near future the gimbals will change with the newer weight designed gopro...

why not hook up to the houseing of the protective case with battery pac for the go pro case and controls to where you can still access them while it 15ft in the air on a mono pod.
amazing piece of technology... ill very likely buy one of these... just one more question before i do that: by how much does the charging capability of the gimbal extend the battery life of the gopro 4 black? for how long can both devices stay turned on and capturing? is there a way to connect a small SSD or usbstick on which the gopro can store the captured footage directly? PLS HELP OUT WITH THESE QUESTIONS.

I really like the look of this Gimbal but I need to find out if it is compatible with the Yi 2 4K
When you adjust the directional joystick will it stay at a certain angle on the adjusted axis and and hold that position?
For example I want to film something above me (or below me) and at the position it is when you firs turn on the G4S, (finding the horizon and vertical position) can you set the angle to point it higher or lower and hold that angle all the while pivoting to stabilize the shot like the default position?
Hope this makes sense.
$255 US on Amazon today (4 Feb 2016). Appears to be a really nice package. If they can build a device with 3 motors that you can mount a GoPro to and NOT induce any noise to the audio then that is remarkable. It's a damn shame they don't build a 360 degree panning unit like the TurnsPro or that TurnsPro doesn't go to them to purchase their motors :-) .
Excellent review. I watched this and your LanParte LA3D GoPro Gimbal review. Between the two, which one do you prefer? My shooting will be handheld or mounted to a pole at times shooting RC cars. Any feedback would greatly help me out. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Loved the price so came on here to research and still love it, big problem the batteries are not widely available in the UK so it is disappointing really, still seems a really good system.

Tried， would not hold balance and no way to calibrate(not like other lines from FY). Works great for only a couple week. Not sure if that is QC or just bad design.

Excellent Review... you validated my purchase I just made yesterday. One question: do you have to use any kind of specific lens covers to be compatible with it?
+Christopher Sharp - You do not need to use any lens covers, although the gimbal will handle the weight of a light lens filter if required.
I really Enjoy your videos! they are very well put together, and thoughtful. As someone who views a lot of videos, I can say that I have not failed to enjoy myself while watching you =). I am interested in getting a goPro, hopefully a newer one doesn't come out when i purchase mine. as well as the Gimbal, I was thinking this one was the best one so far.

You may wish to wait a while as a new GoPro is due out some time later this year. If you cant hold on, check out the GoPro mic adapter review - the adapter can be used to attach most external microphones, such as shotgun mics as well as lapel mics etc....
You'll also need the Frame of the Skeleton housing so that you have access to the side ports....

I'm new to film making, and I wanted to do a sort of fear the walking dead type of video trying to use Go pro's. I wanted to get a Lense that I've seen that puts a polarized look on the camera. My fear is that the new camera will be better, but hopefully its not built like the hero Session, as although the pricemark is there the video quality is not.

as always, nice review @iftibashir !!! i have the g3 ultra and it is a little unbalanced :(
problem is newer monitors are getting rid of the AV inputs. everyone's gone either SDI or HDMI or even both.
I find that the tilts and pans are to abrubt. the speed in which the gimbal turns is set to fast for my likings. I am not able to make the gimbal tilt or pan slower by using a program. I was able to do this with my G4 though.
Nice review (as usual) as you've now tested both which do you prefer G4S or OSMO? Both similar in price when you add the GoPro.
+Dave Bartram - Personally the OSMO just edges out in front just because the camera delivers great colours without any further editing. It also appears a little sharper, and its a neat self contained unit. I just wish they would sort the horizon tilt issues on the OSMO!!
+iftibashir I've actually just got mine, have a Hero 4 already hense the Question..Very pleased with it so far athough only dne a few test shots. Looking forward to taking it on holiday. I've not noticed the horizon tilt as you mention, maybe they have ironed that out. I do see a little c/clockwise drift though.

+iftibashir :( that's a real shame. Because I loved everything about the OSMO.. I've got a GoPro hero 4 black edition and wanted to replace it with an OSMO.. But I keep running in circles deciding whether or not to get one. The sale price is $569 is also very tempting.. I love the flat lens of the OSMO, the fact you can have a live view attached to the gimbal (iPhone) and adjust settings on the fly.. I must be mad but I still want to try one for myself despite the tilt issues.. Am I crazy? Is the tilt issue exaggerated, or will pretty much every single video longer than a few seconds with movement I capture suffer from the horizon tilt? I was really looking forward to getting one, especially for an upcoming holiday next week. But I keep thinking twice that I'll be stuck with a lemon (in this case the horizon tilt issues). I was contemplating keeping the hero 4 black and getting a gimbal for it instead, but none seem as well-rounded as the OSMO, in terms of live view, flat lens etc. Thanks

I wonder if the other brand battery with the same 18350 900mAh 3.7V spec is okay to use with this gimbal (for example the Efest brand - protected battery one), since mine came without the battery coz can't get past thru my country lol. I'm having trouble finding the FeiyuTech G4 Battery here :(

Has anybody tried putting a non GoPro cam in this gimbal. I know that the GitUp fits but what about a workaround for other cams like the SJCam or Elecam?
Did you use program stabilisation or not?
The sample video is what came directly from the GoPro within the gimbal - no post stabilisation whatsoever.

Apologies I was thinking of another gimbal. No the GoPro will not fit with a LCD bacpac, hence why you have a video out port on the gimbal. If you are after a version where you can use a bacpac check out the Feiyu Tech FY-4G

Luke's Bikes Not publicly but I used the official GoPro USB to 3.5mm cable and the Rode VideoMicro, I'd assume anything that works already will work with this.

they need to improved the stabilization. The bumping while walking is too noticiable. Great desing poor stabilization
+Moriwaky c - thats down to the walking to be honest. You need to perform a 'ninja-walk' in order to get really smooth video - any 3 axis gimbal will perform just the same regardless since its still physically connected to a handle. In order to correct that bounce its a matter of either perfecting the walking technique or stepping up to 5 axis gimbals.
thanks for your imput but I still thinking the bounce on this gimbal is too much. I have several hand gimbal and even if you are not a ninja you get better results. I think the problem is the need to improve or the PID or the power to the motors. Maybe a future firmware updete will solve the issue.

+Moriwaky c Sorry, no, there is no 3 axis gimbal that can correct for positional movement. They can only correct for rotational movement in 3 axis.. think about it. Bounce from walking can only be correct by better technique to dampen positional inconsistencies. An easy method is using a longer pole to distance the camera/gimbal from the body.
+Jeffrey Will I know how a 3 axis gimbal works and the needed for the perfect balance for the optimus results, so I think this gimbal needs a biggers and strongers motors or maybe a firmware update to increase the power to the motors to avpid the walking bouncing. Others 3 axis gimbal can handle the walking better than feiyu
so you did not mention the biggest fault... no compatibility with the gopro hero 4 black with a lcd screen backpack! this is the main reason I did not buy this and I am guessing many others too. Unless gopro come up with a hero 4 back with integrated lcd this is totally useless to me. its a big shame they did not think of the high end users.
Wont hesitate to by this if they fix this issue.
