    No current single player reach their skill and play quality. Both playing aggressive, position, variation, determination, respect all on another level.

    Every time I see Lin Dan executes the overhead reverse slide drop shot, my knee hurts. LOL! It happens so quickly, and the birdie speed is too fast for a drop shot. It's simply amazing!

    This is true men's Singles - filled with speed and power, a stark contrast to this year's World Championships final.😅😅

      Thats like saying ufc fighters now are worse than before because they were more explosive and went all out right away back then.
      Modern badminton has everybody playing smart, so it's less exciting to less advanced players. But the pace is just the same if not even faster because they weaponized drives so much better now. However, the new style of badminton is definitely played with the smaller court now instead of bigger court because they take less risks since they're playing it smarter. This definitely makes it look like it's easier than old style of badminton

      @@james-bx4wrDude - they are just bad😅 It's obvious.

    • @james-bx4wr
      @james-bx4wr Год назад +6

      @silenttrack8901 i think it says more about your skill level/understanding of the game if you don't see how much better today's badminton is compared to previous years.
      Chen long era was the transition from explosive-attack style to play-safe style, and this helped him keep a 50/50 record against a prime lee chong wei. Was chen long more talented than lee chong wei? Fuck no. But his playstyle was hard to deal with by someone from the previous all out attack oriented era. Momota pioneered the play-safe style and he dog walked chen long at his peak (although sadly his peak didnt overlap with the previous era's peak). Lin dan was the greatest ever because he mixed both. He played very safe and efficiently with A LOT of neutral shots just like today's style, but exploded with unmatched intensity when he needed to up the pace just like the old style - and that's why he's the greatest outlier.
      If speed and power are your only criteria of good badminton, you have soooo much more to left to understand about the sport.

    To clear things up , it's not that Men's Singles nowadays are bad. It's just that these 2 are in their own class which is just absolutely ridiculous. These 2 guys are like Naruto and Sasuke , Hashirama and Madara they are in their own world dominating things. Others are not bad but due to them 2 being absolute titans , it made others look so small.

    Less of mistake, play all 3 set with the same pace, full of patience. Damn, they know what they're doing. Today player was unmature. A lot of mistake, the pace change in the 2nd set (3rd set even worse), lake of patience, weak mental strength, rash even in the top rank. We admit they're working harder but I don't know what going on with today generation.

    lin dan game matured much earlier and reached his peak early before 2008 olympics and his best game was during 2012s while lee chong wei had to work on and his best form was during 2015-16 imho although his game after 2010 was matured enough to challenge lin dan
