Forces is the ultimate capture of pure potential, with poor execution. With a better designed/written villain, and better gameplay, as well as a few tweaks to the presentation of the story, this game could’ve been amazing.
that's what bothers me about games like this, Halo 5, Halo Infinite, and so many more that I can't name off the top my head, there's so much potential but they completely fail to use any of it, at all
I'm gonna say it; this was a WEIRD final boss vs Eggman... He doesn't say a single word... Not a single word in the whole battle and it made this encounter a lot darker. Some folks say this was a rehash of the colors final boss but it felt... well, it's a lot harder to correct yourself when you get hit.
Technically we didn't see him at all during the final phase, so he may not have even been IN it... We don't know how much of the boss fight was an illusion.
One thing I will say is that when it comes to Eggman, this game truly depicted him as evil and calculating. Other games I’ve played always showed Eggman as being evil but also a bit goofy and light hearted. But in this game, I felt he was more menacing and smart than he’s ever been. By using the phantom ruby to create replicas of past enemies, it allows him to use their abilities to his advantage without worrying about betrayals by them. Had Infinite not dropped a phantom ruby prototype when fighting Silver and left it for the Avatar to find, his plan would’ve eliminated the entire resistance. And his plan to literally burn the resistance to ashes is in my opinion one of his best plans. Had Infinite not made that error, Eggman would’ve won. And the fact that he says nothing during the final boss just adds to how serious he is. To me at least, this is one of the best stories we’ve had in while. All I can do now is just wait for Sonic Team to do bigger and better, and I have faith that they will

Whenever I look at Sonic Forces from a critical standpoint, I hate it. But whenever I actually play Sonic Forces, I love it to bits. It's that kind of game where the experience is better than all else I suppose.
I always feel like this final boss theme is like the game is saying: “The war is almost over. Final push! It’s time to finish this once and for all! You got this!”
I actually started crying while fighting this boss because at long last the war is over with this one final push. Sonic finally wins. After all the adventures, all the battles, all the skirmishes, its finally over with this final battle. And then Starline came along and fucked up what could have been a happy ending by bringing Eggman back. You can't be more of an asshole when human empathy is nothing more than a data set to you.

funnily enough,this script was written in japanese first and then localised into english. the last few games were the opposite. so technicly,the japanese one is the real thing he said xD
that is really interessting. they possibily intended the game to be written in english first and then gave it to japan for the english writers to localise it then. would explain why there are some unused lines that are english only
This boss in my opinion really showed the power Sonic can have when he believes in himself and his friends to the fullest. He doesn't need the emeralds, he has two other friends he has had fighting alongside him the whole time. He knows he can beat this beast, and the emeralds aren't necessary.

Bro this was the hardest part of the entire game but once I finished I revised this song and boy it brings back so much memories and make me feel good about myself I love sonic!
So, I got this game when it was free on ps plus and, well, it was WAAAAAAAY less bad than what I expected, far better than it was made out to be. some parts were odd, and the double boost mechanic was pretty crap, but damnit, for the three hours it lasted, I friggin' enjoyed it. More than ever this solidifies the fact that you shouldn't judge a game by it's reviews. If you have the slightest bit of hope for it, play it. You might find a pretty damn good game.
Well yeah it's a good game if you got it for free with PS Plus. But it is fairly mediocre and short lived for a AAA game which some people actually paid for lol. Like it's way too short for a full game. The Sonic and Avatar levels themselves are very short. It doesn't help that they have way too many cutscenes and automated paths. There's also levels with straight lines of nothing with enemies to boost through like the 3d sections of Luminous Forest. The plot, story and how they portray certain events in the game like the egg guy taking over the world after Sonic gets ass kicked is beyond wack. But I'm not too bothered about that I'm more interested about the gameplay.

The way that you can cheese the first 2 phases of this boss with the flamethrower is so unfortunate, it had so much potential, I mean overclocking the phantom ruby makes it seem like it would be on par with super sonic or super knuckles, but one flamethrower and it’s dead
Listen to this idea that occurred to me, it would have been much better, if the final battle in Forces had been a Strengthened Infinite Vs Super Sonic, a Wyvern style battle from Frontiers with the Resistance fighting against tons of copies, while In the background the sky becomes corrupted and the sun slowly falls, meanwhile, a timer appears and this music begins to play in the background:
This theme made me feel like I was on top of the world. All tho the boss is just like the one on sonic colors and how they had a super cool orchestra remix of the main theme as the boss, but in this game you get to actually hear the theme cuz I defeat egg man so quickly on Colors I can’t enjoy it as much
This theme fits so well with the game. The whole point of the game is to take back the world, and this boss theme imo captures the climax of this theme perfectly. The way the theme slowly builds up and ends is too good. If only forces had a good story and writing, this theme would’ve shined so much more.

Had this game not have such notable flaws, I think it could actually make a pretty good ending for the series. I like the idea that it takes place in a world where Eggman actually won and Sonic is lost, plus it includes so many characters from the past, like Classic Sonic, and overall it is a celebration of the series’ history. And the fact that it has not just the entire cast, but the whole planet working together to defeat Eggman for once and for all just feels so right instead of games where everything is just left to Sonic. Even in Sonic and Knuckles we had more characters chip in against Eggman.

I like how each part of the full song reflects the style for each characters stage music Classic had the retro style sounding music for his segment The avatar had a choir while the stage themes were lyric based And it comes together here with guitar for moderns stages mixed with the other two
I will say this, I had fun playing forces and actually a hard time against that boss on easy, well now I don't, got an s rank. I thought it was bad because others said so but then I played Lost World, I don't want to play it again, I had a hard time playing through it, often I took breaks after 1 or 2 Levels, and like it was too easy and also too hard at the same time, it was just a bad experience, then I recalled forces and recalled that I actually had a much better time with it, played through some middle levels and it was good, like sure it is not the best with all those sonic games but for me it is better than Lost World.
This is probably the best sonic song ever cause it means i can stop playing forces afterwards freeing me from the torture of whatever the hell that game was.

It was refreshing really, I found the game bland enough without being driven mad by Eggman saying 'Get a load of this!' every few seconds
Legion Beast Maybe Dr. Eggman was not piloting it, I mean, he was piloting the big Death Egg Robot, but maybe not the final one....I think

Frankly, I can't call this game a bad game cause I actually had lots of fun playing it.
TheShadowScience I just got it (son asked for it) and we’ve been having a blast playing it. It can be tough as nails at times but it’s loads of fun.

The Sonic and Avatar levels themselves are very short. It doesn't help that they have way too many cutscenes and automated paths.
There's also levels with straight lines of nothing with enemies to boost through like the 3d sections of Luminous Forest.
The plot, story and how they portray certain events in the game like the egg guy taking over the world after Sonic gets ass kicked is beyond wack. But I'm not too bothered about that I'm more interested about the gameplay.

The way that you can cheese the first 2 phases of this boss with the flamethrower is so unfortunate, it had so much potential, I mean overclocking the phantom ruby makes it seem like it would be on par with super sonic or super knuckles, but one flamethrower and it’s dead

Listen to this idea that occurred to me, it would have been much better, if the final battle in Forces had been a Strengthened Infinite Vs Super Sonic, a Wyvern style battle from Frontiers with the Resistance fighting against tons of copies, while In the background the sky becomes corrupted and the sun slowly falls, meanwhile, a timer appears and this music begins to play in the background:
Sounds really good, but at times a little too hopeful. Sounds unfinished in a lot of parts but I appreciate what came out of a year of development.

All tho the boss is just like the one on sonic colors and how they had a super cool orchestra remix of the main theme as the boss, but in this game you get to actually hear the theme cuz I defeat egg man so quickly on Colors I can’t enjoy it as much

This theme fits so well with the game. The whole point of the game is to take back the world, and this boss theme imo captures the climax of this theme perfectly. The way the theme slowly builds up and ends is too good. If only forces had a good story and writing, this theme would’ve shined so much more.
If only it had a better story. That's my main grip with the game. Such an amazing sound track on this Sonic game n most of it is comes down to wasted potential. Null Void being a major disappointed. Ne1 could have made a better story.

It’s very sad when the Solaris boss fight in Sonic 06 (despite its technical faults) felt more creative, unique, and challenging than the entirety of Sonic Forces.

Sonic Forces was a lacklustre game with a meh story, bland gameplay and I even thought the soundtrack was just okay. However, the final boss theme is FANTASTIC!!!!!!

Had this game not have such notable flaws, I think it could actually make a pretty good ending for the series. I like the idea that it takes place in a world where Eggman actually won and Sonic is lost, plus it includes so many characters from the past, like Classic Sonic, and overall it is a celebration of the series’ history. And the fact that it has not just the entire cast, but the whole planet working together to defeat Eggman for once and for all just feels so right instead of games where everything is just left to Sonic. Even in Sonic and Knuckles we had more characters chip in against Eggman.

This is probably one of my favorite bosses in the game. Alongside Infinite who also has great bosses and music
I like how each part of the full song reflects the style for each characters stage music
Classic had the retro style sounding music for his segment
The avatar had a choir while the stage themes were lyric based
And it comes together here with guitar for moderns stages mixed with the other two
I will say this, I had fun playing forces and actually a hard time against that boss on easy, well now I don't, got an s rank. I thought it was bad because others said so but then I played Lost World, I don't want to play it again, I had a hard time playing through it, often I took breaks after 1 or 2 Levels, and like it was too easy and also too hard at the same time, it was just a bad experience, then I recalled forces and recalled that I actually had a much better time with it, played through some middle levels and it was good, like sure it is not the best with all those sonic games but for me it is better than Lost World.
This is probably the best sonic song ever cause it means i can stop playing forces afterwards freeing me from the torture of whatever the hell that game was.
