    It's so ironic that it would have been better for Chris to have lost his vote immediately rather than get an extension for one tribal.

    While voting out Ben may have been a dumb move, Sarah's real dumb move was not doing the vote split on Final Six in Winners at War (same with Ben). They didn't split between Natalie and Denise, even though Natalie could (and did!) have an idol, so Ben and Tony had to use their idols to avoid going home. If they split votes, Ben and Tony can keep their idols for Final 5 and basically just needed one of them to win immunity (which Tony ended up doing) to guarantee they all make Final 4

    I have held the opinion that getting voted out with an idol isn't a dumb move. Idols are usually played as guesses, so saying that leaving with an idol is dumb (even in the case of James in 15), doesn't make sense to me.
    That said, Chris Noble is the exception to that. This is the only time where I would consider it dumb. Glad you brought it up.

      I agree, sometimes holding an idol makes more sense because you know you have to be careful about when you use it and it’s not often when you are certain it will be needed for you. In some cases you may also have to think about the long game, where holding the idol for later is crucial, especially if you have no reason to suspect you are a target.
      This is also why idol plays more often than not are not successful, because it’s rare as to when it’s obvious that playing the idol is the right move, and you can easily play it at the wrong time!

      I'll also add Liana not playing Shot in the Dark at the final 7. You got blindsided last round, you saw a new majority form (with an extra vote you know about at that) and the other two people in the minority are immune. Probably wouldn't have mattered since it was Shot in the Dark but it still would've had A chance of success.

      Jason in Micronesia is also a contender for this exception in my eyes
      dude only survived the last 2 tribal councils due to an immunity win and Ozzy being vulnerable. For him to suddenly believe that James would be the bigger threat in the eyes of the women (escpecially when he has an idol in his pocket) is incredibly shortsighted (but not surprising for the guy who thought a stick was an idol)

    The thing about Caryn is that it MAY have worked if Katie wasn’t there. Bad social game by Katie made it so Caryn wouldn’t flip. I’m pretty damn sure that if you swap Katie with Janu, Caryn makes that move. Had Katie *not* had a feud with Caryn, there’s a shot that Jenn wins Palau

  • @veganszn
    @veganszn Год назад +20

    it should also be noted Gregg was really against not voting out Stephenie when Tom was first exposed. He thought she was untouchable after she conquered Ulong and was going to run through Koror. I'm not sure Jenn would've ultimately sided with the female alliance at that time either. Still Caryn imploded her own game, and watching Tom's reaction when she was spilling the juice to him is priceless.

    Sarah needed a move that Tony wasn’t a part of, that she could spin to her advantage.

    • @roger_towny_jr
      @roger_towny_jr Год назад +2

      I don't believe this for a second.
      The idea that she NEEDED to make a BIG MOVE against Tony is the fallacy that caused her to slip up.
      She played a great game up to that point. She had several very influential allies in her corner on the jury like Kim and Sophie.
      Yes Tony did make THE big move of the season, but Sarah consistently had much stronger social plays. Yeah, she likely loses to Tony if they're both in the finals (though I don't even know if that's completely true), but if she does keep Ben, and Ben takes Tony out in fire, Sarah's got that final tribal in the bag.

    I think the final 6 vote of 44 was a pretty dumb move by Heidi. Perhaps Jaime and Lauren were playing better games than the edit suggested, but to give Tika a guaranteed majority for the rest of the game and guarantee that at least one of them would make the final 3 seems like a really bad move in retrospect.

    • @Videoandme1
      @Videoandme1 Год назад +8

      I have to disagree on this one. While I don't consider Heidi's choice to be a game-winning one, going with the Tikas is her best chance of going to FTC thanks to firemaking. Lauren and Jamie voted for Heidi at the F7 vote and who is to say that they won't consider writing her name down at the F5?

      @@Videoandme1 With Danny gone at F7, Heidi doesn't have much power in the game, and it becomes pretty obvious that Tika is running the show. Her best chance to win, imo, is to ally with Jaime and Lauren and get rid of Carson and Yam Yam at 6 and 5. It's still tough at that point since I think she still loses to both Lauren and Carolyn, but I think Jaime is the only person in that F6 that she beats, so getting rid of her was a bad move.

    I think with Sarah’s move, it comes down to the fact that she was never willing to get rid of Tony. She was thinking through a lens of “I’m going to be sitting with Tony at the end, so I need moves down the stretch that he is not a part of.” If she was actually considering going to the end without Tony, I think she keeps Ben.

  • @Alex.1Q84
    @Alex.1Q84 Год назад +3

    I'm enjoying these dumb moves❤
    IDEA: I think I came up with a new good idea for a video. I'll share it as a suggestion.
    I was re-watching the final tribal council from Winners at War because I love Tony's and Michelle's performances. It was something Michelle said that triggered this idea.
    She says at one point that she played this game with integrity, and I realized that she indeed appears surprisingly to have done just that. It's funny to me, because usually in Survivor the players that say that, well.. they say it a lot, and they are unaware of the fact that they did NOT play with integrity.
    I'm sure Michelle didn't set out to play with integrity necessarily (she probably just wanted to find a way to win), but she ended up playing that game probably because of her personality, and for sure because of her positioning in the game, not having the control.
    It would be super interesting to me to see a top, or a video about the players that actually played with integrity, real integrity, not Coach Wade - integrity. 🤣
    I guess it would be kinda difficult to make a video about that. First you need to define it. And we only see what production chooses to show us in 42 minute per episode... I wonder if I can think right now of any other players that fit this.
    Hmm, Ian from Palau? Colby? Woo? I'm not sure about Woo. Why did he choose Tony? Because of loyalty? But even so, the rest of his game I don't feel he played with integrity, I don't know.
    Did Lil' from Pearl Islands play with integrity? I don't remember 😂
    I can't think of any more at the moment, but I feel that there are some players that probably were mid-game boots.
    Hmm, Morriah from Survivor 43? She was too nice for the game 😂
    Ok, this all the effort I'm gonna do. It would be awesome if you like the idea and make a video about this or something similar if you find an angle you like better.
    Much love ❤️

    One I've always felt was an underrated bad move was Pete Yurkowski blowing up Lisa's Malcolm blindside in Phillipines.
    If Pete just keeps his mouth shut, they have a really good chance to take the biggest threat out with an idol in his pocket. That means Penner is out next round even if Skupin flips since Jeff Kent is there to make the numbers work. And I'd have to assume that means at least one of Pete, Abi or Artis are able to bully there way to FTC.

    Sarah made numerous dumb moves during WaW. I think worse was ignoring Tony and not splitting the votes on Natalie and Denise at the final 6. There was no reason not to split the votes. Tony pointed out how the person who returned from EOE had an idol last time, but Sarah was so confident that wouldn't happen that she threw caution into the wind for no good reason. Sarah was so confident Natalie didn't have an idol because she thought Natalie would tell her everything after their first conversation in the entire game (this was basically a month). If Michelle and Natalie hadn't made a dumber move and agreed to vote out Denise (who posed no threat whatsoever) it's quite likely that Sarah or Tony go home because she was so arrogant to think she knew everything. I think this played into Sarah's move to get rid of Ben instead of Michelle. She promised the girls they would make it to final 4 if they voted Denise and I think she was afraid going back on her word would ruin her reputation on the jury. In Sarah's mind she was sitting next to Tony in FTC and she didn't want to be responsible for a bitter juror.
    The more I think about it, Natalie Anderson played by far and away the worst game of survivor on WaW. She played an all time bad game (and I think she played one of the all time best games in SJDS). She gets voted out first and then she makes the wrong decision every tribal.First tribal back, she tries to get rid of the biggest goat left in the game, gets stopped and then proceeds to vote for the next biggest goat, who was also very weak in challenges. The next tribal, she erases any chance she had at winning by voting out the other remaining goat. The next tribal she decides to make the 2 biggest threats do fire against each other, rather than build a resume and take one of them out (Boston Rob and the others all told each other on EOE they needed to do this to get each other's votes. Rob had them all practice fire too).

She's has been coasting in an unbreakable alliance since the tribe swap. She wants to beef up her resume, but still go to the end with the two "strongest" players. So she forms a plan to first play her expired idol on the super obvious boot, and then play her real idol on one of her allies and "strong player". She also plans on splitting the votes 2 for the obvious vote and 4 on the ally she is saving with her real idol. Not only is this humiliating to the fake idol recipient, but she accomplishes absolutely nothing by voting out the player who's drawing dead and keeping 2 people she likely can't beat in final 3. Low and behold, she actually goes through with her plan, all while making a big long speech in the process while the jury is instantly judging her terrible useless move. And in the end, the ally she played her idol on and another girl turned on her and voted out her ally and the Godfather of the season in a 3-2-1 vote, wasting both of her idols, eliminating her ally, putting her in a minority, clowning herself in front of the jury and giving her a near impossible chance of winning all in one tribal council.
      Sorry if that's a lot and if there are details missing. The season is absolutely terrible for a number of reasons, but this moment was Survivor gold in my opinion.

    We can't have an all-girls alliance because Caryn sucks!

    That Ben vote for Sarah’s resume was the cringiest thing I’ve ever seen. Makes both of them look pathetic tbh

    Re: Caryn
    I kinda started thinking over the years why Caryn sucked.
    We all know she was loaded, so money isn't a motivation for her, and I think she was cluey enough at a certain point she was never going to win even if she made it to FTC (the jury just where never going to respect her), so she decided that if she wasn't going to win (after a bit of flip-flopping), she was at least going to help out the game of the person she wanted to win (Tom).

    Hey my name is is Jacob Fischer am a big fan Boy of Survivor. Another dumb move was Kelly Wiglesworth taking Richard Hatch to the final 2 instead of Sue Hawk or Rudy Boesch because if she would have taken either of these 2 Kelly would have won the first Season

      Rudy would have beaten Kelly, and it wouldn't have been particularly close.
