Building My Own Spaceship

  • Yep, I'm building a spaceship. I just want to get away for a while so I'm gonna try outer space and see how I like it.
    Nah, it's a set for my short film. I need a low-budget spaceship set for a scene or two. I found some interesting material that I can use. It is supposed to go in the ceiling and vent air up to the ridge cap. It's cheap and has an interesting look. I got the idea for the black ones from the Createscifi channel.

    Looking great so far Luke! I'd suggest some pulsing, blinking lights, and some fog. Also a hum or other background creepy sounds. Lots of Star Trek or other spaceship sounds sites online, or make some creepy feedback ones. Anyway, it's looking really good, and just having a spaceship set in your cabin is out of this world, lol.

      I worked on a console yesterday for it. It is going to be the piece the actress is going to interact with. It has blinking lights, switches and a display in it. It will be making sounds as well. I extended it all the way to the wood stove. I guess I’ll heat it with the diesel heater for now. I’m actually going to sit the console I made on the stove. This has been fun so far.

    This is fun, you have great energy and imagination - well done! I like the black panels as verticals, bc the white is easier on the eye and looks really "spaceshippy" on its own as wall panels ... the black looks more structural, is more repetitive/less interesting visually. If you have things that can look like screens, you can cut some of that or some vents into the black panels to "break them up"....old ships must hsve hvac vents, control screens, audio vents, etc.... maybe even some clusters of foil conduit, pipe, wires showing here and there if a panel maybe is off angle a bit, just to create some varied texture and less perfect 90 degree angles...

      Thank you! Very good suggestions. I have some old pipes lying around and wires. I’m going to see what I can do.

    Also some lighting variation will help, maybe a vertical led strip somewhere to suggest a space behind this one?

    That really works. Well done! I like that the aliens are down home enough to use a wood stove to heat their ship. Maybe they're invading to get more wood for their stoves!
    Next thing, after you make a control panel, is to make is an anti-matter generator and a matter-antimatter annihilation chamber so that your alien friends can run away from your peanut butter at near light speed! That way they'll still be alive for the sequel. Why train a whole new set of aliens for that one?

    • @dsteele27
      @dsteele27 8 месяцев назад

      On second thought, if they run away that fast, by the time they get back it'll likely be way too late for a sequel. Darn that Einstein's twin paradox!

      Thanks! I’m having a blast, kind of like being a kid again and pretending. With it being this fun there is liable to be a sequel lol.
      Yeah, that Einstein and his relativity always messing up space movies.

    • @dsteele27
      @dsteele27 8 месяцев назад

      It sure does look like fun. I wish i could be playing with you.
      On the relativity problem, i had a weird dream last night - without a doubt inspired by your video. In it, the aliens traveled across space by entangling all of their subatomic particles with duplicates at home, sending their spaceship to distant galaxies at light speed with themselves in suspended animation (still entangled with their also suspended animation dupllcates at home), then when they arrived at the distant location, waking up the duplicates at home which resulted in the waking up of the folks on the space ship synced in time with the dupicates at home.
      Perhaps it's a bit dubious (really, it's very, very physically dubious - but hey they bent space in Star Trek!), but i almost feel like writing a short science fiction story based on it. Other weird stuff in the dream included that they lived on a Venus-like planet and had body temperatures of 800 degrees with lead flowing in their veins. Clearly sleeping me has quite the imagination!

      @@dsteele27 That would be a great basis for a scifi story. Maybe somehow humans see them approaching and assume they will try to invade earth. People develop technology and weapons to defend earth for thousands of years. When the aliens show up they just fly on by headed to Venus.
      I don't know, now that I wrote that out it doesn't sound like a very good plot lol.
      I think you should write a story, I would look forward to reading it. You definitely have the imagination for it.

    • @dsteele27
      @dsteele27 8 месяцев назад

      Yeah, it would be kinda anticlimactic :) I may write the story. Just have to find the time.
