Not a weed, Nave. The cilantro goes to seed in the heat. Cut the top off, and it will last longer. It's called bolting. If it goes to seed the flavor changes.

You can also use the seeds to start new plants and not have to buy new ones.

Cilantro is difficult to grow, especially when it gets hot. Almost not worth growing.

I was going to say the same thing. If they get to tall seed it can make them go dormant. Not the easiest plant to grow, you have to babysit them but it’s worth it. Love me some cilantro😋

@Nave use cardboard under the straw to keep the weeds back..... Plus it'll compost. You can also use chip mulch (from chipped trees) as heavy mulch to prevent a lot of the weeds, and in the aisles...

How wonderful that you and Cole were able to go get some time away. You both needed that.

The most common garden hack I have seen people do is, using a plastic liner and cut holes the size of a coaster where they are going to plant. The plastic liner will never allow weeds and weeds will never grow.

When I lived in MO and not TX, my late father-in-law would put black plastic down in the garden and open holes in it to plant our tomatoes and other plants. Always started the seed in the house and transplanted the seedlings outside. The black plastic would keep the young plants warm too and if a tomato got onto the ground the plastic would be between and help prevent it from browning too. easy to hoe or pull weeds as they only came up where the plastic was cut. He would make the rows tiller wide between and would run the tiller down between the rows to keep the weeds down.

You need to buy straw this year and let it sit outside so the rain can get to it. Straw is known for having a ton of weeds in it. So, when you put down fresh straw, you're seeding your garden with weeds. If you leave the straw out now, the weeds will sprout and die so you'll just have straw next spring.

He's got multiple gardens, Egg laying and Meat chickens, turkeys, sheep, and cows. oh, I forgot the pigs. He uses all his animals to improve the soil. It helps having four children helping with the chores. Justin is a teacher, not just a RUclipsr. If you want a self-sustaining lifestyle, He's the one to watch.
