      Thanks for the kind words. We crossed the river today and drove along some of it and visited Mannum, from the ground it’s just not possible to take it all in, its definitely a different perspective. We saw a few business with water through them and others on the dry side of the levy bank pumping out cellars/basements that I’m guessing is floods from water soaking through underground or drain flowing backwards.

    That was terrific what a great flight. I live up the other end of the Murray at Rutherglen near Wodonga and the Hume Dam and watching the water spilling over the wall through eleven gates was amazing We also went up to Dartmouth dam not long after it overflowed and cascaded down the quarry where the rock for the wall was sourced. The overflow was running at 9.3 gigalitres a day and all of that was going into Lake Hume as well as what was coming down the Murray which at that stage was 14 gigalitres a day. Those inflows went higher after that due to rain and snowmelt. I have been in this area for 40 years and it is the first time I have seen the Murray run past us at summer irrigation level right through the winter trying to get a reasonable air gap in Lake Hume. it's hard to imagine that most of this water fell as rain 4 to 6 months ago.

    • @SKYHILLMIKE
      @SKYHILLMIKE  Год назад

      Thanks mate, yeah I can’t get my head around that the water flowing into SA a DAY has been more than what SA households use in a YEAR. It’s such an impressive amount of water. We just spent a week on Lake Eildon and was great to see it full. We have been on the Hume before, it would be good to see it now. I think when we were last there it was on the high side but I’m sure it would be even higher now.

It’s running about 30dB lower than voice but that’s a bit of an arbitrary figure probably depends then how high you have your volume and distance you sit from speakers. I appreciate the feedback. Floods all over Australia and we do not even bother to demand action, to build dams ,irrigation and pump systems, deepen rivers and build big levee- criminal negligence. And no water for tommorow, for farmers, for animals...insanity!!!!

    • @SKYHILLMIKE
      @SKYHILLMIKE  Год назад

      In times of floods it does seem like a missed opportunity to store more water. In SA we don’t seem to get “floods” as often as the eastern states.

    • @SKYHILLMIKE
      @SKYHILLMIKE  Год назад

      I thought farmer irrigators could have made resivors and fill them up, I don’t know if it’s true but I read somewhere farmers asked if they can pump water out of the river for free while it’s in flood and they were told they will still have to pay normal rate. So much water coming into system it would probably make little difference anyway. I agree it’s good for the Murray to flow, but it also seems like a god idea to store some water for the next season.
