Electric bus market powers back up after pandemic setbacks: New Flyer CEO

While the COVID-19 pandemic took a toll on many businesses, bus manufacturer New Flyer, one of Winnipeg's biggest companies, said its fortune is quickly changing.
Staff are back on the assembly line at its massive plant in Transcona, filling orders for high-tech transit vehicles. Three hundred workers who were laid off at the height of the pandemic have all been called back, and the company is looking for another 87 employees.
"The tension in here, you could have cut it with a knife, just a short six months ago," said Michael Deley, a union chairperson who represents New Flyer employees at Unifor Local 3003.
"But now, things are turning around. People are able to pay their bills, support their families," said Deley.
I wish they brought back the New Flyer D40i’s. As a bus operator here in Ottawa, those are my absolute favorite to drive.

They’re the largest Transit bus manufacturer in North America. They’re not growing THEY ARE the giant. Everyone has been trying to beat them ever since MCI (Motor Coach Industries) and GMC Left the transit market in 2001 & 2000 respectively. Novabus kept making the models they made but discontinued and created the second most popular brand and model Novabus LFS. Both are Canadian with New Flyer from Winnipeg and Novabus from Quebec. We should be super proud Canada still makes the best! Shame we lost Bombardier rail though thanks to Trudeau.
I think Gillig is larger then Nova Bus but New Flyer is still the giant. Soon to only offer the 60ft diesels, Hybrid and CNGs in the US.

Were getting new electric articulating buses now. They are a complete nightmare.
So its now its come to light these busses are crap. Whay are we waisting more money.
