The way Sunnyv2 talks about content creators is so weird. Like they are fictional characters that exist solely to be perceived by an audience and not real people.
Well because he does see them that way. When Mr Beast's friend came out as trans he made the comparison of "Like characters shoved into a show for cheap representation" and he was constantly talking about the brand of Mr Beast as if the friends of Beast were nothing more than assets. He's terminally online which explains why he does these pseudo-journalistic, heavily biased videos about mostly the popular figures of a country he doesn't reside in. He doesn't have human relationships so the people he sees on the internet (Especially people that belong to groups he hates) might as well be fictitious.
@@legalam can’t find it, i’m thinking it was actually a moon video but they blend together in my head because they both make weird vague right wing content disguised as innocent videos
I've got my own Ninja theory. He became extremely popular in the span of a year. Realized that his audience is mostly children and decided to clean up his act.
That’s just so obviously what happened. Dude got a massive audience & went clean to get his bag. It’s THAT simple. Dude was never racist or a bad person, just more edgy & adult oriented.
@@ThePhantom4516 I wouldn't even say it was just to get money, he probably also realised that, since his audience is mostly children, he has to be more responsible as a matter of principal. Adults can understand nuance and irony far easier, and so if you audience is adults you can safely get away with being a bit edgy - it'll be understood (Pyrocynical comes to mind). But once your audience is children - a more naive, impressionable group by default - you really have to clean up accordingly. Interesting - and this is more at Sonny than you - isn't this what we've always asked of streamers? People have always been quick to criticise those who spread bad attuites to their audiences despite knowing how young said audiences are? It's weird that someone finally shaped up and took responsibility, and people like Sunny are acting like it's a betrayal of values or whatever.
I love how SunnyV2's default assumption when someone says something political he disagrees with is "this person is faking for attention" and not "this person holds options I don't".
In the ninja video, what he seems to be saying is that people are incapable of changing for the better. And if they seem to have changed, they're just a fake who is lying to themselves.
Ninja said "killing is bad" but then he plays a video game where he kills people. This shows that he does not see value in human life, and in fact enjoys being the one to personally end them.
the "he doesn't know he's fake" is such a weird point, like if you don't know you're fake are you even fake?? its the deciding factor in that judgement actually
I guess maybe you could like, posit that someone is inauthentic in a way they lack the self awareness to recognize. Like someone who only does charity when it can be in a visible way that makes you look good but still thinning of yourself as someone who’s charitable just for the sake of it. It’s a really weird idea and I think I’m being overly charitable in thinking that’s what they could be going for. Accusing people of being fake or virtue signaling is really easy to claim while really hard to disprove.
Ack this is like when I'm in the grocery store or laundrette + see an artist whose work I really respect, but they seem pretty lowkey + chill + non-celeb-seeking so it 'd feel intrusive to bug them in public by gushing over their art, but the urge to thank them keeps growing, so I spend a few agonizingly eternal minutes consciously trying to not be/act weird despite the weirdness of the proximal setting & just get my errand done, but mentally blotting out the artist's presence gets more + more cognitively overwhelming, until I just panic & run out of the store or whatever. Anyways, wow it's cool to see Patti-Taxx here.
tbf i think he means that Ninja 'went woke' to appeal to wider audiences and it backfired because his fans condemned that behavior as 'fake'. Sunny's reasoning behind everything just to confirm his bias is the problem here. He just pulls shit out of his ass to claim he has a proof that political correctness ruined another career.
The idea that negativity and bad behaviour is inherently more honest than positivity and goodness is a genuine tripping point for a lot of people, an immature way to see the world. Suggesting that Ninja's intention to become a marginally better person is a farce and a rebellion against the politically correct, hence archetypally "honest" and "natural" state that SunnyV2 thinks he should be trapped in is so weird
As a man who used to be a South Park watching boy, I think some shows like South Park and Rick and Morty teach (usually) boys that apathy and cruelty are qualities tied to secular enlightenment/rationalism. That’s obviously bullshit, as any adult would know. But most of the people following or commenting on twitch streamers are under 25, and haven’t realized that they’re not smart, they’re actually just assholes. Can’t judge too hard. I didn’t stop being an asshole until I was 25, either.
love your comment badger six eight eight two, sunny spends a whole lot of time seemingly projecting. ninja showed change while sunny spent his time regurgitating the same made up talking points and mindlessly applying them to every person he "investigates".
There's being a _nice guy_ then there's being a good guy, I'm not saying that ninja is a nice guy here not to get confused what I'm saying. Just because someone is a good guy doesn't mean they're a _nice guy,_ it seems that SunnyV2 doesn't understand that difference neither.
@@qwertyuiopaaaaaaa7 South park, rick and morty and other adult comedy cartoons are a helpful addition to the conversation, I think. Thanks for mentioning. They definitely carry that idea of cruelty = truth, and brutal honestly = the only true honesty. The younger audience is definitely susceptible to the reactionary communities in general.
Lets not forget when Sunny suggested Mrbeast F***ed up by not immediately abandoning one of his bestfriends for being Trans. Really shows you what kind of guy Sunny is.
My favorite Sunny moment was in his lotto winner one, where he says specifically a 16 year old girl blew through her lotto winnings by “going on expensive vacations” and making “bad loans” to friends. Because I guess saying “gave money to her friends and took them on vacation with her” relayed a far too generous personality and it didn’t fit the tone of the video.
i think it's incredibly concerning how popular sunnyv2's videos are getting because of how he constructs narratives that don't exist. unlike a lot of other youtubers who make video essays about other content creators, sunnyv2's intentions just seem like he wants to push a manufactured agenda rather than understand a person and their career
i’ve always thought the way sunny makes videos is he figures out what title will get the most clicks and then just makes up shit to fit the supposed narrative the title implies
Speaks to the power of aesthetics. SunnyV2 edits like a normal video essay, but has the content of a typical drama youtuber where they just kinda say shit that happened and draw some wacky conclusions. If he was just a dude filming himself in his room I suspect he'd have far less credibility.
The first video of his I watched I left like 2 minutes in because he kept misgendering the person he was talking about. I guess it's par for the course for this kind of guy.
I hate very few things, but when someone says "You are a (blank), stay out of politics." I hate that. It's okay to be concerned with politics. Politics are certainly concerned with us. Leaving politics to the politicians is a problem.
There is no such thing as apolitical media. Everything you do is political; complaining about the price of groceries expresses your political opinion on food tariffs or commercial agriculture throwing away supply to increase the price, taking a branded sponsorship is an endorsement of that company and their politics, and saying "you shouldn't say something so political" in response to anti-racism is just saying that you see racism as a default state of being.
@@InfiniteDeckhand nobody likes politics in their video games. If a RUclips gamer started talking about how abortion is evil, I would feel just as put off as if that person said abortion is good. Video games are meant as an escape anyways.
Love that Sunny is hailed by others as some kind of non-biased and purely objective being when the dude's tone is " clearly pissed off " as he sprinkles in weird unnecessary remarks throughout his videos, you can hear the pure anguished strain on his voice over certain people. It's a real shame he deleted his video about Shane Dawson being a victim of le cancel culture, I think this shows us his dark side descent into madness fake persona tbh
Damn I didn't know he made a video about Shane Dawson. A few RUclipsrs I watch react to his videos and he gets treated like some genius mini documentarian. I only really watched his videos for background noise. I prefer TRO and Joon the King.
I love the idea that anyone in gaming space would think that being openly pro-BLM would _boost_ their popularity. You know, gamers, famous for their love for progressive causes.
Yes, COD 4 lobbies were MLK's dream😂 Sunny just seems like the average opinionated asshole that for some reason has a highly respected reputation. I don't understand it, he's always come off like a smug hypocrite to me
The irony of this SunnyV2 guy constantly complaining about cancel culture yet he made this whole click bait video over stuff Ninja has already apologized for and changed his behavior over.
Cancel Culture is 4 the birds. It's a word that means less and less by the day and ppl like Sunny are why. Can't wait for normies to finally recognize it as a dumb right wing smear like "woke" is now.
"Oh God, cancel culture makes RUclips such a toxic environment!'' ''Btw, here is a video where I expose a random RUclipsr over random stuff they did!''
@@mechanomics2649 it's so funny that people have coined the term "cancel culture" and treat it like a boogeyman. For the most part, what they call cancel culture, the rest of the normal world calls "facing consequences for your actions"
Yeah, Sunny is a pathetic hypocrite. He says he hates cancel culture, but every single video he makes is personally and vitriolically attacking people on the basis of his perception of the quality of their content. (Sometimes, of course, these attacks are justified.)
Whenever I see petty internet drama hit pieces that bring nothing of substance to light, I always think of that attack ad in Clone High: "Last year, Abe said he was 15 years old. Now he claims to be 16. Which is it, Abe? Better keep your story straight."
@@stapler942 Id say they stop just shy of it. Ill never forget this one political slander flyer I got in the mail that used the most blatant manipulation to try and convince you their candidate was better. The "good" candidate had a high quality press photo next to a list of puffed-up positives, and no joke the "bad" one had what looked like a fifth page of Google image search JPEG of the dude with a broken arm lmao. They weren't even trying. "Do YOU want a low-resolution candidate who doesn't even have functioning limbs, my dear voter???"
I wonder how sunny watches movies. Like, movies with character development and stuff. "And so Luke decides to lie to himself and pretend he's a good jedi for clout."
And because Harry insisted on being Gryffindor, he lost the Slytherin part of his fanbase in favor of appealing to the "good" Gryffindors instead. He has been losing subscribers in the Slytherin audience ever since due to his pursuit of a fake woke identity.
I... can't remember the last time I've seen someone unironically do the "negative color footage, so the person looks SCAWY" thing. With the music and everything. Holy shit
In fairness a shit load of other video essays have this "Jangling keys in face" kinda editing. Not really a sunny issue, especially if there was any meat on the bone here.
I'm glad someone is FINALLY pushing back on SunnyV2's content, dude has always rubbed me the wrong way and I constantly see streamers talking up his content.
I always got weird vibes from the channel but what (very quickly) made me drop the channel completely was his video on Ryan's toy review. His conclusion on the topic was that Ryan hasn't been and isn't being exploited because he seems okay with it now that he's older. I have never seen someone make such a one sided conclusion and completely gloss over all the real, possible negative effects filming can have on a child.
His video on Sis vs Bro was so weird and just plain mean, I dropped the channel after watching it. No, a teenager wanting to separate herself from her child star image is not "arrogant" or "entitled." These actual children don't owe the internet a damn thing, and it's understandable that a young girl trying to grow into her own person reacts poorly to comments like "you've changed!" or "I liked the old Karina more!!"
I think there was also a video about how the military had to do something ( I forgot but it had something to do with racism and a black person) because people are so sensitive nowadays, the solution being people need to stop caring so much about (insert bigoted belief) because companies are walking on eggshells now, idk I don’t remember much but it was definitely distasteful
someone should make a video called "the dark side of sunnyv2" where he complains about sjws and cancel culture thinking people cant change followed by a clip of him using ninja's past bullying to say he's a hypocrite for speaking out against bullying
reactionaries simultaneously say "you think this person is good? ha! well, look at this thing they did 5 years ago" while also saying "cancel culture has gone wild, people are using tweets from 5 years ago (that i don't even denounce) against me" absolutely incoherent ideology
Unfortunately though we all have to walk on eggshells for triggered anti-sjw snowflakes. So that’s one thing to at least look out for when making that video.
He titled it that way for views. Extreme negativity gets more clicks. Thats why titles say: The end of marvel!! The WORST SHOW/MOVIE EVER!! The Downfall of , Darkside of and Blank EXPOSED(SLO4N)😂
SunnyV2 has always been like this. Always felt right leaning and baiting, bordering on bullying. Speculation and armchair psychology about how everyone is a boogeyman under the guise of being a "documentary". It reminds me of Moon. Watching it has always felt like brain rot, while pretending to be anything of genuine value.
"mommy mommy, my favourite fortnite streamer isn't being as racist as i want him to be" "don't worry darling, i'm sure he's just faking it and deep down he's as racist as you"
I love when someone expresses bare minimum human decency and they get criticized for being fake lmao. Ppl who think that way are either really young or terminally online 😆
Remember when it was "just edgy jokes?" Now it's suspicion and takedown videos if you so much as suggest that you shouldn't act like a bigot. It's pretty obvious who his videos are meant to appeal to. He's just smart enough to not put it upfront like a quartering or sargan.
I noticed there’s was something kind of up with SunnyV2 when he was making a video about why Shane Dawson’a return failed. When brining up how he pretended to pleasure himself to a picture of a young Willow Smith, he prefaced bringing them up by saying the Smith family was Hollywood’s biggest joke, which seemed sort of out of pocket and random when talking about how one of the family’s members were grossly sexualized.
It stands out heavily once you get used to it, jfc, even the comics explained guy has a lil incel streak that some how manages to pop its head up when its not called for lol
sunnyv2 tries so hard to pretend he isn't right-wing but it always comes through one way or another. It takes every fiber of his being not to use the word "libtard" in every other sentence.
i forget which video i was watching but it was pretty normal and then he just blurted out something about sjws and then kept going like nothing happened. i was like oh this guys alt right slipped out for a sec
@@jaqfare you talking about the one where he says “it’s the same argument that idiotic feminists use about stuff like the gender pay gap”? I’m obsessed with that clip tbh, it comes out of nowhere and it has literally nothing to do with what he was talking about.
There’s also that video about ticsandroses whose thumbnail contains their bio, which has “non-binary ~ they/them” in it. Then, when you watch the video, you shrivel in disgust as he misgenders them for 13 minutes straight. He similarly misgendered OnlyJayus in his video about them. I get that these folks are shitty, but that doesn’t make it okay to misgender them. It could’ve been an accident, and if so, I hope he’s been made aware of his mistake. But if not, it would align with the “closeted right-winger” narrative we’re constructing for him.
I hate that the internet has this idea that if you're a toxic person, then that's the "real you" and if you try to do something positive, it's seen as being fake. It discourages real improvement. Good people sometimes do bad things, that's not hypocrisy, that's just part of life.
Something I've picked up on is that the modern internet is *extremely* unforgiving. People are unwilling to accept that someone can be a good person who made a mistake. It's a very scary mentality, and it's becoming more prevalent and important than the real world.
@@msjkramey I'm not talking about people being able to come back from being canceled. It's not about that side of it, it's about the witch hunt that goes down. The people see a reason to hate someone and they will do it. Everyone seems to be quick to throw stones for any reason and forgiveness isn't an option for them in that moment. They attack way too easily and often, without regard for any nuance or bigger picture.
The more you watch SunnyV2, the more you realize he's just a clickbait channel. Almost all of the tweets and comments he features in his videos have likes and retweets in the single digits. He's cherrypicking things to serve the narrative he wants to portray. His videos on streamers and youtubers cheating in games or going to real life jail are obnoxious. He scrapes the bottom of the barrel to pick on people with 3k subs.
SunnyV2 honestly has the dumbest takes I've ever seen. In so many of his videos he frames changing and growing into a more mature and adult person as a moral failure, like you said. His bro vs sis vid convinced me that he really does not get that people do not want to be static the rest of their lives and changes to their personality are out of character. He said that the sister was spoiled and entitled but lmao she's like 14-16 and spent a good hunk of her childhood entertaining people? And then to get probably dozens of people a day asking her why isn't she doing stuff like she did she a kid is probably irritating and grating for someone who just wants to move the hell on with their life. It boggles my mind that people agreed with him that she's entitled and spoiled when she's just sick of people asking her to entertain them like she did when she was little and expecting her to still act like the little girl from years ago. He's a weird little slightly alt righty channel and his videos are pretty bad
@@Khamthegoblin Makes me think we just have a new generation of young men from 12-18 who are in this alt-right pipeline. I got out of it a few years ago after the immature and petty squabbles over the Star Wars movie from 2017 and that subculture still looks so lost and bitter today. SunnyV2 may be the archetype of a dumb kid whose mouth runs faster than reason.
Personal growth is inconsistent with preordained hierarchy. In that regard, he could be considered more internally consistent than your average rightoid.
Yea, as a student learning how to write academic research, something which the video essay format is trying to imitate, SunnyV2's work is absolutely non-academic trash. Its more akin to tabloids than an actual essay if I'm being honest. The point of biased and bad research has already been made, but its also worth pointing out just how little of his work is actually his. While he technically cites his sources, an overwhelming amount of his videos is just reading other peoples comments or playing other peoples videos. So little of the words spoken in the video are actually his to the point that it'd be rejected by any respectable institution for being plagiarism. Obviously video essays aren't academic work so they aren't necessarily held to the same academic standard, but I do think that the fact that Sunny's work may be upwards of 30% just reading other peoples ideas speaks to just how bad of a creator he is.
I feel like I try to be a pretty chill dude, and most people in my life would say I'm a decent guy, maybe even a good guy, but if you collected enough clips of the times in my life I lost my shit or wasn't as kind to someone as I should have been, and backed it with some spooky music, you could easily make me out to be some kind of monster.
And obviously, you opening the door for other person is "virtue signaling" because I have a clip of you kicking a door in a fit of rage once. Everything bad you did is the true you. Every attempt at kindness makes you a "phony". And you changing your mind because you got more informed is just you pretending to be good wether you realize it or not. At least according to SunnyV2
People seem to have developed this weird brain worm from listening to conservatives who are called out on strong hypocrisy that react by saying no, their political opponent is the ACTUAL hypocrite even though its always almost way less harmful or they have apologized for the action. This whole owning people because they said one thing but did another thing culture is so pathetic...literally everyone has done it as some points but context and nuance are too damn hard for people since they take time and attention.
Absolutely - anyone can be made to look like a monster if you have enough clips of them. People aren’t always cool and that’s just a part of learning to be human. If all of my mistakes/weird behaviours as a teen were catalogued, I’d probably look like some degenerate lol
Yeah like there could be someone who was genuinely a nice person but like maybe they got really stressed/angry and said same bad shit. Like some people say when you’re angry you’ve “removed your filter” or “are showing your true colours” but like when you’re angry or stressed can’t really make cognitive thinking stuff and people are just banking off of one incident that happens to everyone and is making the person out to be a monster and like especially if it happens more than once
Best part is when - during a segment where Sunny says Ninja is fake because he doesn't believe in the politics he was supporting - he plays a clip of Sneako literally saying it's better to be fake and hide your political opinions so people will like you. It's clear Sunny does not give one single shit about whether Ninja is fake. He's just mad that Ninja has political opinions he doesn't like.
The thing is, Sunny's video is made for people who think bullying is cool, but who are too cowardly to just say that outright. So the only way they can criticize someone for saying "bullying is bad" is by gesturing at imagined hypocrisy, or by narrativizing it, like "he's just doing it to look good".
SunnyV2 is socially conservative. Again, most of his videos, regardless of the title, are about how said personality has betrayed their fans, committed hypocrisy, or "sold out to appeal to a wider audience" by becoming more socially liberal (deciding not to be casually racist anymore, deciding not to be a dick to random people anymore, deciding they're a feminist, etc, etc). It's never a hypocrisy thing. It's a getting older; changing their mind thing, and he's mad people aren't staying in the playpen with him.
Nailed it. He thinks he is fighting a culture war and he thinks he has people fooled by not being upfront about it. Seems to be working for now, but you can only watch so many of his videos before you start to see the very strict pattern and just how lazy all of his content was from the start.
"Abraham lincoln, honest abe. Or so he had you believe. Last year he said he was 15, now he claims to be 16. Which is it abe?! Better keep your stories straight."
@@DriscolDevil it reminds me of a channel called moon that’s like the society/ red pill /men are suffering brother to sunnyv2, their both popping off and it’s kind of sad one is just more mainstream covering popular creators everybody knows
tbh it's rare that you encounter a smart/cowardly conservative so committed to the bit that they're willing to say, in effect, "If you've ever bullied someone, you should bully everyone forever", just to paint someone as a hypocrite. Accusations of hypocrisy should be, like, the side dish to accusations of actual wrongdoing. Like, if someone exposed Coffeezilla for running a Ponzi scheme, the hypocrisy would serve to show that there was conscious immorality at work. But it's very noticeable that, when a social conservative wants to attack someone for not being a social conservative, they will really talk up the supposed hypocrisy, and the actual wrongdoing will be pathetically small if not completely fictional. And it's because they know damn well that leading with "Ninja isn't racist and I hate that about him" would be pretty indefensible.
What made me unfollow him was the way he was talking about body positivity: Portraying Nickocado Avocado as a genius because he makes fat jokes while being overweight and comparing it to "annoying" body positivity activists who fight for acceptance. It shows what he thinks of any progressive movement: SJW = annoying, fake / anti-SJW = authentic, honest. In the end all he was saying was that he prefers Nickocado's content over the content of people who speak out against fat-phobia. In his worldview people who fight discrimination deserve to be made fun of because they're "annoying" but Nickocado makes fat jokes seem harmless, that's why he likes him. My biggest issue with this is that SunnyV2 makes a moral point out of this preference and completely discredits the body positivity movement along the way. It's a pattern you can see in many of his videos about other topics like sexism or racism.
"Fat people who want acceptance = bad and not what I want, fat people who make fun of themselves and other fat people = good and what I like to do too", not very complicated
the only sunnyv2 video i’ve ever seen was one he made about notch (the creator of minecraft), who got bullied off twitter after he constantly posted extremely bigoted and especially transphobic hate speech, and the conclusion sunny came to was that notch was a victim of sjw cancel culture and everyone was sooooo mean to him and how sad it was. he went on and on about how people were mean to him on the internet but curiously never showed anything notch himself tweeted
Notch is an actual nazi, like the white nationalist anti-semite kind... Like that isn't the case of some misguided attack... Seems to be a bit of a pattern to SunnyV2's behaviour.
It's so transparent. If you talk about your leftist politics you are a phony, that is faking it and also alienating half of your fanbase, but if you are an outright transphobe like Notch, you are just being honest, and the world is out to get you for having ""innocent"" political views.
The comments on that video are great. "I guess he learned money isn't everything"....like, I guess, but also, being a bigot also tends to push decent people in your life away from you.
For a long time I legitimately felt insane because it was immediately obvious to me that he was a reactionary dipshit yet so many normie youtubers I used to like continue to speak highly of his content. It forced me to think about whether those people are also reactionaries or if they just don't have the media literacy to sniff that stuff out.
honestly that guys brand of “commentary” is part of a branch of youtube i think in general is very bad faith, more focused on “drama” and petty feuds. they have like weird centrist brainworms vibes and are always eating their own tails
The thing with sunny is that his videos seem like and presents itself as a video essay or deep dive but then you think about it and it’s really more like a rant that feels like it should have some csgo knife flipping in the background.
He really tries to stretch out drama to get that sweet sweet monetization with very contrasted images of the culprit in question being disheveled or worn down with a big title name saying "EXPOSED" to get a view to click on it. He tries to hide how he wants to expose the persons already old drama that has been already discussed and closed with an essay format on how he wants to not cancel the person while also antagonizing the person. He's overall very scummy
SunnyV2 is one of those people who have skipped past the "mask off" phase by never masking his very nasty preferences to begin with. He gets VERY MAD that Ninja sometimes says decent things to his large, young audience and also says he loves a different streamer who frequently bullies his opponents and throws tantrums. Gee, I sure care about the opinions of this weirdly hateful dude!
I mean I like watching compilations of streamers raging at games and smashing their keyboards, but I don’t think every streamer should do it just because it’s entertaining
And unironically quoting Sneako. Not only is that a huge red flag, it’s also hypocritical (y’know, the very thing Sunny is accusing Ninja of being) because Sneako has also driven off a non-insignificant portion of his old audience with his trip down the redpill rabbit hole and attempts to be Andrew Tate Jr.
The deep emptiness at the core of people who hate "virtue signaling" is so upsetting. "This person is being not racist and not shitty, therefor he must be lying"
It reminds me of the cynical people on reddit who end up on r/nothingeverhappens because they are so poisoned by self doubt they assume everyone else is as disingenuous as them and therefore always lying. Its like no...sometimes people hold beliefs *because they actually believe them*
and thing is "virtue signalling" does exist, but its almost never the case when someone is accused of it. brands on twitter making empty progressive statements to market themselves while committing countless human rights violations on a huge scale is virtue signaling, they are being intentionally deceptive by using progressive language to promote their own brand and try to cover up whatever evil things theyve done. some guy on the internet expressing leftist beliefs isnt virtue signaling.
its funny because hes the type of guy to justify someone being racist years ago with “people can change:/“ unless its someone he doesnt like. then theyre a hypocritical attention-seeker
I forgot SunnyV2 existed because I clicked the "Don't recommend channel" on his channel a couple years ago. He struck me as basically just Australian Keemstar-- just a mean-spirited drama fiend. The sad thing is that he's actually a lot more tactful than he used to be-- if you watch his earliest videos (if he hasn't privated them) he's a lot more mask-off with how much he enjoys smearing other public figures. IDK what his problem is.
EXACTLY i found him before on a random reaction channel and after watching a few of his videos he started to give off k33mst4r vibes and i started avoiding his channel. good thing i sensed it from afar because god he's awful
I didn’t know the “don’t recommend channel feature” works I’ve doing that multiple times to different channels and it still shoves that bullshit in my face
@@j_jizzle_69 don't bother engaging with content you dislike whenever you see it, whether it's disliking vids or asking RUclips not to recommend the channel. It's getting painfully obvious that interactions fueled by outrage and dislike are still considered interactions to RUclips at the end of the day
The most confusing part in the whole video happens when SunnyV2 claims Ninja is a fake and a phony and he doesn't even know it. Like, the idea behind the whole video is that Ninja is knowingly being deceptive, knowingly trying to portray himself as someone who he isn't. But if he doesn't even know about it, how is that deceptive? Is he claiming that he knows what's best for him, the true essence of his soul and Ninja's just lying to himself? It kinda reminds me of Jordan Peterson claiming that that magazine having a fat lady on its front page was tricking people into liking fat women and somehow that's a deceptive process. It feels like JP and SunnyV2 are making the same mistake of watching people doing something and when faced with the fact that they are willingly acting in a way they don't like, they just kinda assume that they are somehow part of a deceptive process, basically lying to themselves. I think this reveals a very essentialistic view of the people on JP side and of Ninja on SunnV2's: they see the subject they're analysing as essentially something they can't change about themselves and when the facts collide with that vision, they can't accept it.
AMAZING point. there's a whole thesis in there somewhere. it's making me realize how common it is, no matter who a person is, to assume other people are faking or lying when it doesn't align with what they believe... damn. how entitled is that. it reminds me of in middle school when you start to like something new and the other kids assume you're just doing it to be cool or whatever
@@hell0mega To expand on this whole faking/lying about opinions a bit, IMO (not that my opinion really matters on this, I'm just some bro on the internet) reactionaries don't really like thinking that shedding conservative/bigoted beliefs is genuine positive growth. There's definitely at least *some* moral imperative to not believe anyone adopting progressive beliefs and only regard them as clout chasers, not because of what it says about the person who changed, but because of what it says about the reactionaries who *haven't* yet changed. When they see someone genuinely change and get positive attention and praise for it, they have to think it's fake cynical bullshit, because if they don't, the next logical thought could be "Wait, If so many people like it and think that stopping being a conservative dickhead is good and makes you become a decent human, shouldn't I change too?"
@@dp7552SunnyV made a very transphobic video about one of Mr.Beasts friend claiming she'd be the downfall of his channel because she was/is transitioning.
honestly the level of projection sunny is doing is embarassing. If ninja had become a trump supporter no one would call him out for being fake bc he wasnt racist in the past, theyre just salty to see someone so big from that side of the gaming community not be a bigot and openly denouncing it
it’s like when jerma was vocal about transphobic chat comments, and bigoted fans went into crybaby mode. saw someone say “he has way more comedic potential if he stops catering to [insert transphobic slur here]”
my fav sunnyv2 moment was when in his sis vs bro video he painted the girl (karina) as a bad person going down a bad route because she disliked the videos of her past and publically declared that. oh and that she was doing regularly teenage things. he DIDNT say these about the boy (ronald) despite him being openly misogynistic & showcasing harmful views. despite that he still painted karina in a bad manner as if their entire youtube career wasn’t essentially their parents exploiting them
the inescapable thing for me here, is that Sunny makes a really big deal about how Ninja virtue signals for his audience, so he stays popular or whatever. but also, how Ninja's audience hates his virtue signalling. Both of these things can't be true at the same time. It leaves me with the idea the Ninja might actually be a dude with some level of integrity. Which is funny, because that is exactly the opposite of what SunnyV2 wants
I once watched a video from SunnyV2 channel and was pretty confused. It felt like there was 1-2 minutes of information thinly spread over 15 minutes with constant repetitions. And the video had like 1 million views. And I just thought that maybe I didn't get something. Maybe that video had some incredible value that I just couldn't understand. Since then I keep getting a feeling that I might've understood all the value in that video after all...
honestly I had a really similar experience where the first SunnyV2 video I ever watched was the one about fake videos about building these crazy mud houses by hand, which seems to be one of the few if not good but watchable videos from him. it's the kind of catharsis of watching a fake youtube channel get eXpOsEd which is fun to watch and easy to digest. it made me think this must be a Good RUclips Channel so I wanted to see more but then it just... well it was exactly what you described. I was getting a whole lot of repetitive info and judgemental moral takes and not a lot of that genuine information I thought I'd see more of. I was so confused at how what I thought was another good video essay channel actually just had one random video hook me in and otherwise had a whole lot of nothing that I wanted to see
@@hauntedsunsets Oh my god, I watched a video about how all those "primitive build" videos were fake a while back, too! Did I watch a SunnyV2 video at some point without realizing it? I genuinely don't remember what video it was.

No one is actually watching these rise and fall of youtuber "documentaries" and paying attention. They put them on as background noise and do other things. The length, well spoken narrator, and production value suggests high quality content but it's not. RUclips junk food mindlessly consumed
I think people confuse changing opinions with moral inconsistency with "I was 15 now I'm 23" all the time on the internet. Like... let's say Neenja was a huge racist when he started streaming at 13 or whatever, and now he's older and he has come to see things differently. Not in a big wham moment just small moments of growth like we all have. Is he supposed to just keep being that way and never grow, just because everybody "knows" the "real" "authentic" him is the him they grew up with? That just seems insane.
@@sable4539 Is it better? I think people would miss the comment and ask me why I deleted, and what am I supposed to say? That I wasn't quite sure which Ninja we where talking about when making my broad point about how people have unreasonable expectations of you on the internet? To be perfectly honest I don't know barely anything about Ninja, the one with Blue Hair who streams videogames not the South African rapper. My comment is just as good if I had known, I feel.
This is a perfect example about how the endless obsession with perceived hypocrisy is literally the most intense waste of time ever because it's an entirely subjective thing - no one ever views themselves as a hypocrite and the allegations are often a stretch. I just hate how people constantly obsess over meaningless things
While you certainly have a point about "obsession", you act like accusations of hypocrisy are a weightless concept. But if you have the slightest understanding, you will know that hypocrisy is a moral failing, and if you care about morality at all, then you will understand why hypocrisy is wrong, thus being far from meaningless.
@@gillfreddie4100 what? Did you read the comment? There's no point in talking about "moral failings" without context. Nobody is defending hypocrisy, so what's your point?
Sunny’s Amy Schumer video is an even better example of this. He dedicates much of the video to what a hypocrite Amy has been over the years, yet never mentions the fact Amy has bragged about SAing a drunk man.
If youve changed to a point where you hate your past self, then you are a hypocrite. Because you are guilty of what you criticize. Also I love how leftists talk like they enjoy forgiveness. That's very funny.
sunny always rubbed me the wrong way since the "fake disorder cringe" video where he consistently misgender one of the people he's calling out. he even put their pronouns in the thumbnail yet couldn't be bothered using em, which indicates to me that he only did that because it would get transphobes and transmeds to click on the video that makes fun of a nonbinary person [update 15/4 2023] WELL WELL WELL. WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT. i've always wanted to say this, but *I TOLD YOU SO*
i was always worried to call his misgendering out because I didn’t wanna get called some “SJW” or something. But that was first thing that really turned me away from sunny.
oh wow. i'm not surprised nor dissapointed, just disgusted, really. i mean, not like i expected this clearly "anti-woke" guy to respect someone who isn't on his way of thinking.
Sunny always reminded me of those anti woke channels that whine about lgbtq people and women getting more representation in media (like the quartering) and I never really knew why. I haven't seen the video you mentioned but its devastating to hear
when i was 15 i was a piece of shit, and i had done so much fucking work to become a better person. I think i am better now. It's one of the most deppressing things and im watching just feeling those feelings through the whole runtime. It's awful, let people change and grow. Let them apologise. Let them grow.
sorry dude but no one is under any obligation to accept your apology. it sucks, but that's what consequences are. you did the work because it was the right thing to do (hopefully), and not just to feel less guilty for hurting people
i know im just a stranger but, i'm proud of you and i'm glad you've grown, it takes so much fucking integrity and hard work to not only accept you're wrong, but to do your best to examine why and improve. like, that takes so much guts. much more than people realize. you're awesome
@@graquinn4058 I don't know if you or youtube deleted your comment, but no, I don't think that. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt which is worse. What I said actually came from a place of empathy; you can't spend time feeling bad because some people won't accept your growth. Partly because it's just not meant to be with those people, and partly because when I think about it from the people who traumatised me, I literally couldn't give less of a f*ck about their growth. I've found myself hating "the dark side of whatever" videos more and more as time goes on. I remember some random recommended video I got about how primitive technology-esque videos are faked and I just found myself going "okay, but... why should I care? Why do *you* care?" Plus the fact this sunnyv2 feller sees someone going "racism is bad" and immediately thinks virtue signaling is... telling. EDIT: So that primitive technology video was actually from SV2. Small world.
The primitive technology videos being fake is actually a bad thing because they portray them as being real feats they actually did. It's literally fake information. It's like when Dream does his manhunts and pretends that all the stuff he's doing isn't scripted and fake. It's harmful to pretend something is real when it's actually fake. Other then that tho I agree with your take
Saw that, but if it is fake and they used heavy machinery to pull it off, then its highly damaging to the environment, especially if its at a reserve. Bc you can't just plop a backhoe down on the forest floor with a copter(at least not a commercial one), you have to tear down dozens if not hundreds of trees to get it there. So yeah, in the context of these fake primitive videos, you should care, but for anything else? Like a youtuber lying? don't have to give an ounce of shit... Unless they stole money from u directly or smth
"All I know from Ninja is that he made a few incredible tweets about how video gaming is harder than kicking footballs and I've admired him ever since" is a wonderful line, thank you.
Hey, you’re pretty good at these kinda longer videos, you should totally start another channel where you just upload long-form video essays! Maybe call it mediumjoel?
Really highlighting the issue that you can pretty much release any propaganda on YT served up in a deep dive documentary style format, and actually manipulate people.
SunnyV2 scares me not because of his content, but because of his audience. He is taking advantage of a trend that has always existed. The fact of the matter is, a lot of people completely lack the ability to question their surroundings, think critically, or analyze events and states around them. These people are incredibly vulnerable to the likes of Sunny, who can just say whatever he wants without actually supporting it. Notice how he showed two different clips of Ninja speaking, one of him denouncing bad play and the other of him denouncing bullying. These are not in contradiction whatsoever, and yet just because SunnyV2 says that the first clip is genuine and the second isn't, he is able to completely brainwash an entire audience into believing it, because they don't have the mental faculties to question what about these clips actually supports what Sunny is saying.
I also hold a lot of anger towards Penguinz0 and other "apolitical" RUclipsrs who have given him such a huge audience. SunnyV2 is blatantly right wing but it's hard for privileged white men like Penguinz0 to see it, because they desperately want to stay middle of the road between outright racism and anti racism. There is no "middle of the road" that ends up being non harmful to oppressed groups though, and everything in between the two fields is only ever helpful to those doing the oppressing.
SunnyV2 is another example of the fact that literally anyone can succeed on RUclips if they achieve basic competency at editing and have a USB microphone. Plus, the blind confidence to boldly state your opinion on any topic with no second guessing ever. Really, you don't even need to edit, or write a script, or plan, or have a basic understanding of what you touch on. This is why I've been accumulating the gear I need to try my hand at it and learning editing and production... If guys like Sunny and SomeOrdinaryGamers managed it despite very little skill or merit, why don't I try?
@@SPVLaboratories Nothing necessarily, he just makes strikingly low-effort videos in my opinion. A lot of it is just casual spreading of bad opinions with no consideration given and almost no work put into the production either. Everything about his videos is so lacking to me. I'd find him a lot more tolerable if he at least felt more responsibility for the accuracy or impact of things he says when it comes to serious scandals, or political issues and current events.

And his DmC remake was crap
@@ThePhantom4516 I wouldn't even say it was just to get money, he probably also realised that, since his audience is mostly children, he has to be more responsible as a matter of principal. Adults can understand nuance and irony far easier, and so if you audience is adults you can safely get away with being a bit edgy - it'll be understood (Pyrocynical comes to mind). But once your audience is children - a more naive, impressionable group by default - you really have to clean up accordingly.
Interesting - and this is more at Sonny than you - isn't this what we've always asked of streamers? I love how SunnyV2's default assumption when someone says something political he disagrees with is "this person is faking for attention" and not "this person holds options I don't".
In the ninja video, what he seems to be saying is that people are incapable of changing for the better. And if they seem to have changed, they're just a fake who is lying to themselves.
I've known people who assume that by default anytime someone lives differently to them. Specifically if they're trans or not straight.

It's incredibly narcissistic. The internet has become no less of a scary place just because it has hit the mainstream.
Something I've picked up on is that the modern internet is *extremely* unforgiving. People are unwilling to accept that someone can be a good person who made a mistake. It's a very scary mentality, and it's becoming more prevalent and important than the real world.

I'm a lawyer and teacher, I use SunnyV2 videos to show people what bad citations and biased writing looks like.

I hope Charlie sees when he plays the Sneako clip, considering what's been going on between him and Sneako lately. Lol

Yeah… I’m surprised some of his videos haven’t been called out before.

"If he changed, maybe I should too" is a scary thought
it’s like when jerma was vocal about transphobic chat comments, and bigoted fans went into crybaby mode. saw someone say “he has way more comedic potential if he stops catering to [insert transphobic slur here]”

my fav sunnyv2 moment was when in his sis vs bro video he painted the girl (karina) as a bad person going down a bad route because she disliked the videos of her past and publically declared that. oh and that she was doing regularly teenage things. he DIDNT say these about the boy (ronald) despite him being openly misogynistic & showcasing harmful views. despite that he still painted karina in a bad manner as if their entire youtube career wasn’t essentially their parents exploiting them
as if karina & ronald yt career *
It’s almost like he’s a bigot
the inescapable thing for me here, is that Sunny makes a really big deal about how Ninja virtue signals for his audience, so he stays popular or whatever. but also, how Ninja's audience hates his virtue signalling. Both of these things can't be true at the same time. It leaves me with the idea the Ninja might actually be a dude with some level of integrity. Which is funny, because that is exactly the opposite of what SunnyV2 wants
It's really annoying that SunnyV2 seems to constantly virtue signal about how anti-woke he is.
Since then I keep getting a feeling that I might've understood all the value in that video after all...
honestly I had a really similar experience where the first SunnyV2 video I ever watched was the one about fake videos about building these crazy mud houses by hand, which seems to be one of the few if not good but watchable videos from him. it's the kind of catharsis of watching a fake youtube channel get eXpOsEd which is fun to watch and easy to digest. it made me think this must be a Good RUclips Channel so I wanted to see more
but then it just... well it was exactly what you described.
I had a similar experience. Watched a couple videos all the way through and I was just kinda like... I gained nothing from this
the only videos I've seen of him were like 90% reading through joke comments next to explaining something in a serious tone, i couldn't believe people would willingly watch this stuff
No one is actually watching these rise and fall of youtuber "documentaries" and paying attention. They put them on as background noise and do other things. The length, well spoken narrator, and production value suggests high quality content but it's not. RUclips junk food mindlessly consumed
Idk why, but he’s always reminded me of Creepshow Art. The invention of drama and the way he presents evidence has always linked them for me.

Oh THAAT Ninja. And I wrote it all wrong here.

@@BATCHARRO It's better than making an irrelevant comment
Norm Macdonald's bit about hypocrisy is evergreen
While you certainly have a point about "obsession", you act like accusations of hypocrisy are a weightless concept. But if you have the slightest understanding, you will know that hypocrisy is a moral failing, and if you care about morality at all, then you will understand why hypocrisy is wrong, thus being far from meaningless.
Also note that even an unambiguously hypocritical statement can still be correct
@@gillfreddie4100 what? Did you read the comment? There's no point in talking about "moral failings" without context. Nobody is defending hypocrisy, so what's your point?
Sunny’s Amy Schumer video is an even better example of this. He dedicates much of the video to what a hypocrite Amy has been over the years, yet never mentions the fact Amy has bragged about SAing a drunk man.
the FORESHADOWING OF THIS!! given the type of video Sunny just uploaded, this was only the beginning of his unhinged videos
"Sometimes a hypocrite is nothing more than a man in the process of changing" - Dalinar Kholin.
If youve changed to a point where you hate your past self, then you are a hypocrite. Because you are guilty of what you criticize.
Also I love how leftists talk like they enjoy forgiveness. That's very funny.
sunny always rubbed me the wrong way since the "fake disorder cringe" video where he consistently misgender one of the people he's calling out. he even put their pronouns in the thumbnail yet couldn't be bothered using em, which indicates to me that he only did that because it would get transphobes and transmeds to click on the video that makes fun of a nonbinary person
[update 15/4 2023]
WELL WELL WELL.
I made a comment about that when the video dropped and it got deleted, lol
i've wondered for some time now why i didn't like this guy and this reminded me lmao thank you
Sunny always reminded me of those anti woke channels that whine about lgbtq people and women getting more representation in media (like the quartering) and I never really knew why. I haven't seen the video you mentioned but its devastating to hear
when i was 15 i was a piece of shit, and i had done so much fucking work to become a better person. I think i am better now. It's so heartbreaking when people from my past are expecting me to behave that way, or still treat me like i was the person i was 10 years ago i just can't.
I have been both people: the bullied (I have CPTSD) and the person who hurt people as a stupid teen, grown immensely, and still not had my apology forgiven. Are they probably better people 15 years on? Sure. Do I want to trigger myself by interacting with them? No. Understanding that is PART OF true growth and integrity.

That moment when your anti-political correctness turns into pro-racism
Those are the same thing lmao
I've found myself hating "the dark side of whatever" videos more and more as time goes on. I remember some random recommended video I got about how primitive technology-esque videos are faked and I just found myself going "okay, but... why should I care? Why do *you* care?"
Plus the fact this sunnyv2 feller sees someone going "racism is bad" and immediately thinks virtue signaling is...

SOG started by reading creepy pasta so... you know where to start.
What did muta do
@@SPVLaboratories Nothing necessarily, he just makes strikingly low-effort videos in my opinion. And more importantly, I feel he talks about contentious or important topics without giving them anywhere near the amount of thought, research, or seriousness they should be given. Tbf, the "little Joel" channel is also in the "low effort s**tpost" realm of videos, but I trust that he puts thought into what he says because of the Big Joel channel lol.
@@WinterReflections fair enough, however i find SOGs content enjoyable enough on the PC side of things, exploring operating systems and what not. Other than that, i find his content rather winding and increasingly low-effort over the years.
@@SPVLaboratories He always seems to come at things like the kiwi farms debacle with a frustratingly centrist mindset. This reminds me of the first time Taylor Swift got political and there were those same people arguing that famous people should stay out of politics because they weren’t their politics. Thats just what happens when your position isn’t popular.
Speaking against racism has become far more controversial than saying something racist.
It happens even if your position is popular/reasonable. Those against it tend to be extremely vitriolic.
