- How you can straighten a curved watch hand and check the alignment of the watch hands? In this video I will show you an easy way to do this!
If your watch is not moving then there is maybe a problem with the watch hand alignment? After a heavy fall or impact of your timepiece, the hands may have shifted: The second hand can touch the glass, or the hour hand can touch the dial, or the minute hand can touch the hour hand, you see many options are possible!

In this new video series I will show you my daily work @ the bench. I will also do my best to tell something about the watch in question and off course with the necessary 4K macro images as you are used to ;-).
Then I will try to gradually tell the repair 'live' what I'm doing and were you have to pay attention. This seems like a nice way to get a better insight into my work, and to get to know me better as Dimitri, the watchmaker.

Nice to see you working on every day watches also. These repairs are ones a person may attempt on their own, although I'd predict some very bent up hands! I think a short video demonstrating opening and closing the different types of casebacks would fit into this series.

Great to watch! I have some Hamilton 992B Railroad Watches from the latter 1950s. When someone has lever set the time at some point, they have bent slightly sideways the ultra-fine steel tip of the minute hand. Would you attempt the same technique, but just pressing the tip sideways? On one of these watches, the watchmaker has seemingly “repaired” the bent tip by carefully clipping the bent end off. This now means the minute hand looks strange because it can no longer reach the dial’s minute calibration marks… so am looking for a replacement.
Learned a lot. Would like video on how to straighten a watch handed that has a twist in it.

I managed to repair my child's cheap watch with your video. She had dropped it and the hour hand was rubbing against the seconds hand.

Nice video. I'd like to know - are there ever companies that purposely make the watch hands bent? When we see it, does it usually mean the customer or watchmaker bent them to make an adjustment. Thanks.

Thanks! With older hands (whose lumen already crumbles when you look at it) this may be a problem yes, but with new/recent lumens I haven't had any problems with this yet.

Dank je voor de video. Een goede hulp om e.e.a. zelf te proberen. Ik heb een DW horloge van m'n dochter waarbij het glas vervangen moet worden. Lastig om te achterhalen of het glas er zo uitgedrukt kan worden en het nieuwe er weer in of dat dat op een andere manier moet...
Fijn om te horen haping1, DW horloges zijn meestal wel voorzien van een plastieken spanring waardoor het glas er uitgedrukt moet kunnen worden. (wel niet met blote vingers :-) )

The tweezer that you used to hold the hands isn't in the tool list. Could I ask what it is? 2A? F?
If the mechanism was loose and away from the face what would you do?
I forgot to say, I didn't know about the first position for removing the stem. Is that just for quartz watches? I know some ETA mechanical watches such as the 2824-2 must be in the setting position or you will end up with a jammed keyless work. Also, some Seikos must be in the winding position or you will jam the keyless works. I guess only experience can solve this problem.
Usually, you can easily see the difference because when the 'dot' on the setting lever is visible or not. If this dot is visible, it is in the correct position to remove the winding/hand-setting stem. I can't just say the difference between all the calibers.

Ik weet dat het niet de meest 'flitsende' video is (want ik moet vaak zoeken naar de juiste woorden in het Engels), maar als je er toch iets van hebt opgestoken, en de video niet te langdradig/saai is dan ben ik al blij :-). Het kan alleen nog maar beteren zou ik zeggen in mijn volgende video's ;-)

I have a Michael Kors watch where the hands have fallen off but I can’t remove the dial.
It’s a fixed bezel so I can’t access it from the front.

Hello, Unfortunately, these are timepieces that are not really made to be repaired, but it's possible, the glass must be removed under air pressure via the crown tube.
