  • People ask me alllll the time where/how I learned to do what I do. The short answer is a few paid (and not cheap) online courses that are sadly no longer available, and THOUSANDS of hours of RUclips videos! I would watch full playlists on the laptop while working on pieces and I've learned the majority of my skills and tricks from other RUclipsrs! I thought this would be a fun way to give back and say "THANK YOU" to these awesome content creators and masters of furniture refinishing and restoration.
What I love about RUclips is that even though there are hundreds and hundreds of furniture flipping and restoration channels out there, EACH ONE is unique, has a different style of filming and flow and narration (and some WITHOUT narration)... and we all bring something different to the table.
    NEVER STOP LEARNING! ❤️
    Channels mentioned in this video:
    ‪@JamiRayVintage‬
    ‪@LostMountainRestoration‬
    ‪@DashnerDesignRestoration‬
    ‪@johnsonrestoration‬
    ‪@ThatShabbyGuy‬
    ‪@salvagedbykscott‬
NOTE: I was able to obtain emailed permission to use actual clip footage in this video from all but one of the channels listed above. This video does not show actual footage from that channel, only content publicly available on their RUclips channel homepage.

I'm late on this but I agree with your suggestions. I already subscribe to three of them and enjoy them too. You asked for channels we would recommend. Mine would be John's Furniture Repair, which is created by another Canadian lady who named her channel after her Dad. She is Trena, and is a skilled renovator of antiques and cherished items, rather like Thomas Johnson, and learned her skills from her Dad. Her videos are so educational and interesting as well. She is a qualified teacher and it shows. 😊

Hi Lady of the Lake. I too have just found this furniture restoration channel. Isn't this lady and her work great. She is thorough, does not cut corners and is very fastidious about her work and l like that. Tonight l viewed someone elses and it was just terrible, can't remember who it was, but he just butchered a beautiful piece of art Deco.

I loved this video and KNEW we could be BFF's, as I've been subscribed to all these channels for years. I just adore Thomas Johnson and agree that he is a true master! I've learned so much from him on the old glues and ways of constructing pieces. I particularly enjoy watching him repair veneers and matching the grains and stains. I could go on and on about the others as well. I'll comment on your other post on some other channels I have discovered. Considering we are like minded, I'm sure they won't be new to you. I just came across one of your videos and am in awe! I clicked on this one and would like to thank you for sharing all of this information. I collect Mid Century Modern furniture and treat it like family as I just love the design, beauty and grain of the wood. I’ve always paid full price for my pieces though as any form of restoration is completely intimidating to me. This video has inspired me to pick up some pieces that need TLC and bring them back to life (with RUclips instruction of course). Thank you again from a new (fellow Canadian) subscriber! I have been studying very hard for the past year to learn to flip furniture. The patriarchal side of my family were interior and exterior professional decorators. For twenty-five years, I've been a teacher. While I have a vast knowledge of painting and business, need to learn how to fix various types of furnishings and furniture flipping trends in the market in my area. Thanks very much gir doing the same things your colleagues do, teaching very well, inspiring and encouraging others to learn, save furniture and maybe make some money along the way.

Of course I put my vote in for Dashner! I would also recommend a fellow Canadian, Scott, from Fixing Furniture. He doesn’t do restoration in the the same way as you or Dashner, but his tips on fixing joints and matching stains for touch ups are really great! He has a calm, methodical teaching style and it is nice to see another Canadian represented! 🇨🇦

Thank you for sharing these. I love that about you and your channel, its real and not caught up in ego. I went to college to study furniture but learned most of my stuff from You Tube (hours, months!). Loving your work 👸Glad you squeezed the bunnies in.

You, Christina Muscari, DIY Wife, Katie Scott and Busted to Buff are the very TOP of my list. I've learned so much from you; thank you so very much😊😘 I live in Melbourne and there's so much furniture that are no longer loved going around (on social)...or left on the curb. I've always wanted to rescue furniture and with your support (without you knowing it 😅😂) I'm going to follow my passion and do it!

All new stations for me! I am eager to binge all of them as I learn to restore whatever I can get my hands on. My sentiments about you, I see, are the same as you feel about your mentors. A perfect way to pay it forward❤️

The first two channels are ones I've been watching for a few years and most of the others I watch often. A couple, though, I haven't seen and am seriously annoyed at RUclips for not "recommending" them, especially considering all the other junk that they do!! Thank you for sharing this info and for all your videos, you and Thomas Johnson are my two favorite channels! 💖👍😊

I started watching with Thomas Johnson and then spotted Katie Scott then you. I watch all three of you religiously. I've been painting and restoring furniture for myself and family and friends for years. But you are absolutely correct that you can and should always seek out more information. I've even contacted Tom Johnson on a piece and he was super helpful. Keep up the great videos and I love the bunnies! Thank you!

I am very picky in my subs to channels, as I found I became overwhelmed due to FOMO. So I only follow you Angie as a restoration channel. However, because of the algorithm and the lovely people here, I get a lot of great recommendations on the RUclips homepage 😊

Thanks for the list. I have been watching tons of hours of your stuff as well as several other people. I like Flipping Teacher, think I watched everything she had. Great story of a teacher who used flipping to pay off her student loans and then got enough business to quite and do flipping full time

Your channel has been my favorite to watch so far and I’ve seen every video as far as I can tell. You have a voice that is very easy to listen to, your restorations look spectacular, and I’ve even learned quite a bit! Keep making videos, please! And thanks for this video bc finding good content creators can be difficult bc there are SO MANY people doing this sort of work. Thanks Angie!

Thanks so much for the new channels! I'm already subscribed to Katie Scott and Dashner Restoration; in fact, I think Dashner was my first every furniture restoration channel that I subscribed to. I'll definitely check out the others that you mention. I'm not a furniture restorer, but I do find watching these types of videos to be very relaxing. Also--I love your style and really appreciate that you don't just slap paint over everything without thinking about it.
