I respect her a lot for mostly ceasing with her work when she had her child (not long after Divers came out iirc). I bet she's a great mom
People will most probably complain she is "losing herself with so much instrumentation" but honestly I fucking love this, and I'm a huge fan of the Milk-Eyed Mender sound. I'm always open for change, and it seems Joanna is always changing, and bringing something new to the table while still keeping it creative and original. This woman is brilliant!

I saw the pitchfork rendition first. And fell in love. But this. This version holy crap. I was actually in my car when I found it and had to pull over and take it all in. Just gasp. I can't. Wait. ." That is such a beautifully simple way to address the increasing fear of death as it draws nearer. Or that is how I interpret it anyways.

Really surprised this doesn't have millions of hits like her other songs. This is my absolute favourite of hers!
I don't know where I've been, but I heard this song on KCRW toady and I am now beginning the delightful journey of discovering this artist. One thing that struck me about this song is that it reminds me of some of the songs on The Kick Inside, by Kate Bush. I don't mean Ms. Newsom is ripping her off; I just enjoyed the theatricality of her voice and the structure of the song. If you want to hear what I mean, check out "L'Amour Looks Something Like You" and "Feel It". Can't wait to see this woman perform in concert!

Alright, I talked trash on this album when it came out and I only heard the one track, but DAMN. This is good.
I've been skeptical of almost everything that's come after my beloved Milk-Eyed Mender, but this completely wins my heart! Those extra instruments add rather than subtract, I'm happy to say.
Must see this harp goddess in concert... Please come to the US! Love the two new 'studio' tracks and look forward to what the rest of "Divers" has to offer.
