- Welcome Gardeners! Happy Halloween! Today I have a special treat for all of you! Not quite a garden tour… but it does involve a landscape designer! Michael Glassman, award winning landscape designer doesn’t stop at plants and plans, he also goes all out for halloween! Every year he hosts a fundraising event at his home which has been decorated to the nines! The goal of the event is to raise money for our local food bank. Michael, I was just saying to someone the other day that when we were kids we understood the necessity to provide to the needy. We had to collect pennies or dimes in the little UNICEF boxes and brought them to school the next day. Thank you for all your efforts! You worked at Universal! So did my dad ( Jerry Green) as Entertainment Director and also host of Airport 77, The Blues Brothers Show and Adam 12! I worked as crowd control in after high school and kind of all over for a bit but my dad wrote a book about his Universal Years. It’s called “universal studios the magical years”and you might love to reminisce! He has so many stories and pictures of Universal Hollywood of old! It shaped so many of my family’s lives!
That scarecrow scaried me to death! 😮The Wizard of Oz is my all time favorite!

I'm digging the staging as the tour of the garden progresses but I'm really blown away by all the healthy foxtail ferns on his front yard! That must be an easter or northern exposure for them to look so healthy! OK...now back to the "scary" characters...headless horseman's horse is my favorite! OH...love the animated ghosts on top of the book case. Love your backyard trees, Michael. And those special effects are so cool. Thank you!

So much fun Michael! I'm sure you have people coming from all around to see what you have created! I always loved seeing the Trick-or-Treaters that would come to our home. I lived in an area that would get up to 400 plus kids come for a Halloween treat. Now, we live in the country. I'll miss all of those kiddos!

Jason I'm really enjoying your stand in work for Janey,. Love that Sleepy Hollow first thing, really fabulous. I can only imagine how scared the trick or treater's will be when the scarecrow opens his mouth. Some movie trivia about The Wizard of Oz, Buddy Ebsen was playing the tin man, he got really sick from the silver paint they used, he was replaced with Jack Haley.
