Covid-19 brought me here! I’ve had to learn how to do my own acrylic nails and I was at a loss as to how to keep my brushes from hardening. I threw away the first brush as I thought it was done for but I’m going to try this! Thanks!
x x yea just keep it in acetone for a while. My brush doesn’t repair unless i do the clear coat top and acetone. Ik it’s damaging it but that’s the only way it works. Sadly. :/
Omg thank you so much. I'm new to this (I'm my own test dummy) and I had so many problems with this. My method of getting rid of the problem was very similar.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm a beginner so I've only purchased 2 brushes and this method and your video saved both of my brushes! 😊 I also subscribed!💜
Also amazing video! This helped me so much. Recently spent a lot of money on a brush and completely ruined it when the acrylic dried in it. Thank you so much!!
You literally just SAVED myself and my first and only acrylic brush. I saw this terrible tutorial before this one and it almost ruined my brush. I’m talking ripped bristles. But your video was so straightforward and informative and HELPFUL. THANK YOU!!!!
This was so helpful! Watching some of those other videos had me tearing my brush up ad drying it out! Now I know what I was doing wrong and how to fix it. Thank you!!
ToiStorey Thanks 😉 let me know what other topics you need help with and I will add them to my to do list. If you enjoy my channel help others find me by sharing in your social media. I would greatly appreciate it. I'm really glad you found it helpful that's my goal. Real life, real situations for real learning 😊
Thank you for sharing! This video was the first one that popped up when I googled how to get hardened acrylic out of a brush. Also, I have 3 dogs as well and they drive me crazy. Almost always barking at something or even nothing. 🤣
after a while if you continue to use acetone to clean your brushes it takes away the shine from the bristles and it makes the acrylic powder sticky and tacky when using later on. it will be really hard to get that residue off the brush since acrylic hardens. with practice you shouldnt have an issue with clumping on your brush.
Great video. Can you please tell me what size the pink brush is and where it can be purchased and if at all possible do you have a link for it? Thank you
Thank you, I bought that brush on eBay I think the brand name was BOAN It looks like it's a size 8. I have a great pink handle brush with rhinestones on it in my online store here's the link, you will love it, Acrylic Brush goo.gl/DKxVqM
extremely helpful thank you!! now I do have one brush that I messed up by freying a few brissols is there a way to correct that or am I just in trouble? tfs!!
Ja'Net Wise you can take your nippers and carefully clip out the bad bristles it will be fine, over time it might thin out but you can make them last for years and years. 😀
Can u say me what is the name of that tool u have used for removing dirt from brush .. It looks really nice and easy..what was the liquid you have used in brush for removing dirt.. name? Some acid??
This method should only be used when you have a dried piece of acrylic in your brush. You should not use acetone or brush cleaner while you are doing a set of nail or a fill on nails.
another way is to soak your brushes into 100% pure acetone for an hour and 20 mins, then dip them into monomer and apply cuticle oil to hydrate them, this way you don’t have to scrape your brushes :)
+TheMeticulousManicuristNailTutorials I wish I would have seen this sooner. I had a cheap acrylic kit and acrylic had gotten stuck in the brush and I used the monomer liquid to remove residue from my brush but apparently that didn't work. I don't have another acrylic brush to do my acrylics with. What's a good recommendation for a brush and a monomer that is odorless? The smell irritates my stomach unfortunately.
So sorry you couldn't revive your brush. There are so many brands of brushes. My favorite size and shape is a round #8. Just make sure is is kolinsky sable. Be sure to wipe the brush after every bead application on a paper towel to make sure there is no acrylic left on the brush. Monomer will not dissolve dried acrylic, but be sure to dip and wipe a couple of times before you put your brush up after finishing your application. I do not know of any odorless monomers, but if you ever find one you can post a comment to let others know.
Sally's Beauty Supply has an odorless kit. I just bought it. I am new to acrylics and just learning. I bought a regular kit and the smell was horrible in a 1 bedroom apartment but the odorless one, I couldn't smell at all, even though I was told it still had a smell to it.
You can buy odorless monomer but it's important to ventilate the area correctly. I've read that the classical monomer is actually non-toxic despite the unpleasantness, while the odorless one is toxic due to the additives that kill the smell. There are all sorts of tips and tricks online that help you minimise the smell in the environment.
What’s the name of this liquid thing, like you use this to wet brush and then you can use clear acrylic powder. I really want this because I have a acrylic powder but I don’t have a this liquid thing.
Could you please share where you got your push down liquid acrylic dispenser pump? I'm having a difficult time finding one that is compatible with monomer.
I have done this with my brushes. However I feel it dried out my brush. It doesn’t seem to hold liquid well anymore. Which makes it hard to get the ratios correct. Is there a way to fix that or just buy a new brush?
When the brushes are pure Kolinsky sable they shouldn’t be affected by the acetone. Trying to condition the brush and get the bristles back together will probably be a bigger pain in the booty buying another brush. I have a few of my favorite brushes on my online store and they last a long long long time I can use one brush for at least 8 -12 months and I use it every day all day long
Have you been using this method for a long time? Does it seem to wear/dry your bristles out any more quickly? In school they scared us from using acetone to clean dry acrylic from our brushes. I have been using my same trusty CND #8 round brush for 7 years, faithfully avoiding dried acrylic in my bristles. This is the first time I've ever had this problem and I'm not ready to let go of this brush!
I have always used this method. It does not harm your bristles at all. You just have to be careful not to press too hard when you are scraping the acrylic out. I never had a problem with my bristles until other people started "borrowing" my brush
I had the same experience in cosmetology school. We were told that we needed to share with our other students, which is an anxiety attack/OCD nightmare for me. After my polishes, brush on nail tip glue, acrylic brush, striper brushes were "borrowed" and returned to me two days later, I spent the most of that day in the supply room ungunking my brushes and prying my bottles open. 😫😡 This video was very useful. Tfs! I learned the hard way that no one "borrows" my tools and supplies anymore; we work hard, and pay good money, for our tools and supplies. So it pays to take good care of them so they last as long as possible. 💞
The Meticulous Manicurist Nail Tutorials no it not hard...and I make sure I shape up the brush the original way it came. I just forgot about the cleaning the acetone out. So it been a couple days .
These nail brushes, are they never meant for using nail polish with? Or is, say a dotting brush, the metallic ones, okay with nail poloish, but all the other ones should be used with only acrylic paints?
+Anyaaa These brushes are only for acrylic liquid and powder. They are much too big for polish or gel. Gel brushes are much thinner and shorter bristles.
Ummm these arent used for ANY PAINTS whatsoever. When she's saying acrylic she is talking about acrylic for nail enhancements...not acrylic paint. You'd use these brushes for nail extensions & acrylic overlays
Just don't use acetone all the time as it damages the brush as it dries the bristles out since acrylic brushes are made from kolinsky sable hair every now and then is fine but constant use big no no
do not do not clean your brush with acetone, you'll dry out the hair and kill the brush. just dip it in clean monomer , let it sit in there a few mins. if the hair has became hard, leave it in there over night.

@Oh So Glam I agree, it will eat the bristles and the cuticle pusher should be a wooden. We are talking about real hair here! To revive I'll rather use alcohol (that is the main ingredient of brush cleaner) and a mínimum of oil as conditioner and then back in to the monomer and reshape it.

I agree, I would never use aceton to clean a real Kolinsky and never use a metal cuticle pusher.
Everyone has their own method but I do agree with you.
What do you guys specifically do?
Awesome video thank you! Also, where did you get your pink glitter brush from? It’s so cute! 😍😍💖
I did it with just normal nail polish remover and it also worked
Thank you for telling that 👍👍
thank you for helping haha now I can save money

Straight to the point and informative . Got my brushed feeling like brand new when I thought I was gonna have to throw them away! Thankyou!!!!!!
i wish i would’ve watched this before i there out mine and got new ones lol but how long do i let it sit in the acetone
About 10 min
Thanks, but how do you clean your brush without acetone?😊
Thank you for this vid wish I new this trick sooner too cause I would clean it norm but I’d still get hard acrylic attached

Can I use nail polish remover instead
I used to cut the hard part out🤦♀️I ruined my brushes. Thanx for this video.
Do u remember where u got the silver brush . I been looking all over for one.
Any tips for the tips of the hairs on the brush curling or is it gone too far to save??
That happened to my brush because I scraped it with something sharp and it started to curl, I could not revive it so I just bought another one

Rajashree Mahapatra it’s a cuticle pusher and she soaked it in pure acetone
I acrylic liquid the same as monemer and do u know of a recipe for diy brush saver liquid
Does it not work with nail polish remover because I live in a small
Town in Norway and we don’t have a “local beauty store”
you can also try monomer
cool. I normally just use the monomer but that's faster. Thanx.

You should never put oil on your brush. The acrylic will lift with oil in the bristles
What monomer dispenser is that?

The Meticulous Manicurist Nail Tutorials thank you so much!💗
I watched other videos and they said to put cuticle oil when you're done with the monomer....is that bad?
If anyone told you to put cuticle oil on your brush, they’re wrong. Your clients nails will lift. Nothing on your brush except monomer or acetone.

very helpful thanks
what if the brush is bent or has changed its shape while you're cleaning it?
