Great looking birdy John! Great tip on lowering the temp. I noticed the Speedi definitely runs hot. I always pull my birds at 160, juicy every time. And love me some good’ol fashioned Lawrys!
Thanks CJ...I started to holler at you I came to Vegas for the week and thought you might be here too...I was thinking you go there occasionally... but yeah those temps are a little hot...
I got there last Sunday for a Subway sandwich store convention...I do the maintenance stuff for a friend of mine who owns several stores... but I just landed in Atlanta... time to get back to the norm lol...
Hi John Just served my family your Ninja Foodi OL 701 Pressure cooker using the thermometer and as always ….delish. 😁 I learned from another RUclipsr of another oil sprayer that works really excellent because like you and her and I our EVO sprayer wasn’t doing an even spray anymore. It’s on Amazon and it’s a 6oz oil sprayer called the Mistifi. I have used mine since November and it’s still perfect. I paid $16.99. I highly recommend it. Going to do the chicken once I give in to my whim and buy the Speedi. Thanks again for another great and entertaining and educational video. You’re one of my fav cooks. Thanks John
Hey hey !! Today is one special day....August 29th !! Happy Happy Birthday to one special guy... You, Babydoll & all those near and dear have a wonderful day...The Heavens are smiling.... I know I am.. !!! ~Cheers Double0~ !!!
Doubt it. Thermometers are very sensitive and it’d still have to be an externally attached apparatus. They won’t want to take that responsibility and liability for malfunctioning or misused thermometers.
Great video, John! I have so many Ninjas. I have the Smart lid w/ the thermometer, the latest grill, the double air fryer and more. Will this add any benefit to my lineup, or can I do the same thing with my steam air fryer smart lid unit?? Thanks for continuing these videos. You're my favorite!
The Smartlid is still the undisputed king of my kitchen!!! And yes it does it all...lol..I like the square part about the Speedi but doubt I would buy it just for that...thanks for watching and glad you enjoy the videos!!!
Great question! I also have way more Ninja Foodis than a sane person really needs. I think this is the first one where I didn’t have to stop myself from ordering it immediately.
I think it depends what and how you eat as a family, if you buy loads of food for the freezer that cooks in a airfryer, if you eat pasta and sauces and want to have cooked veg which you cannot have in an airfryer, then in my opinion is what splits the people that buy them. I was going to buy an airfryer until I found this Speedi, and it does everything we eat. Gilled meat chicken or fish, with a side of eith pasta or potatoes or rice and veg, occasionally we have chips, but not very often, we dont eat pies or fried foods, so the Speedi is for us.
Another truly informative video, John! Two quick questions: How does this compare to the Ninja Foodi 6.5 Qt. Pressure Cooker Steam Fryer with SmartLid? Will Meater thermometers work well with either of these, too? Thanks!
Our chickens are 2 for 10 dollars. I guess others have different prices. I want to clean it myself and cook it in my own spices so there is that. I don't know you so I wouldn't know why you would or wouldn't do anything. You do whatever you want or not according to your own needs and wants. To each their own.
hello if you want both sides of the chicken crispy, can you start it top down for 20 mins and then flip to bottom down for another 20 then maybe the 400 will work?
Just interested can you fit a spatchcock 4# chicken in the Speedi? The Steam/Crisp function should almost work better and the upper skin wouldn't be exposed to intense heat. There's real benefits to 400* temp - it actually sears and seals the juices in especially if using the steam function. I have an F.Blumlein Combi - Steam Oven that is phenomenal. It's 34qt and can handle very large 16-18# turkeys. I proof, steam and bake my bread in it as well. I've just found the combi (steam/crisp) produces much better fowl at steam and 400* convection finish. I'd think the airfry would as well. So maybe the spatchcock approach may eliminate the overcooking of the upper breast meat. I do enjoy watching your vids. Thanks!
John, I’m debating between the speedi and foodi smart lid with thermometer. I’m assuming that the food is at lid would be equally as effective in preparing all the recipes available for the speedi (for the steam & crisp function). Any reason that would b e a bad assumption? Thanks!
I was wondering, could you use aluminum foil to line the bottom pan, so that the bottom doesn't get hard to clean. I usually use aluminum foil or parchment paper at the bottom of the pan and then put the basket for the airfare on top of it. I am considering purchasing this unit.
I was thinking it would cut down on the cleaning if you made gravy while the chicken was resting? I'm thinking of getting one too, specially since I couldn't decide which air fryer to get so I haven't yet. Now I'm glad I waited. And I thank ole'Jelly 007 for convincing me!
Yes I would have made some gray with those juices it would have tasted lovely, I’m also with you on the airfryer, I’ve looked at several but we eat like grilled meats, with some pasta or rice or potatoes, with veg, none of which can be down on an airfryer, so I’m have a Soeedi when I get home.
Yes... it is really easy using the clorox sanitizer sprayer I have sitting on the counter during the video so it is easily seen... it is very important and should be done quite often... but I leave this type stiff out just for the ones that point this out a lot
@@JohnSanders I usually keep a produce bag (or Walmart or any plastic bag) kind of propped open on the counter to stick my contaminated hand in if I need to pick up the Lawry's or anything else. Thanks for a great video. You sold on this one!
As much as I think that chicken looks delicious I can get a cooked rotisserie one for $4.99 at the supermarket. Why would I spend $10.81 to bring it home and cook it in a machine that costs what the Ninja cooker costs?
The rotisserie chickens at the supermarket are tempting for a quick meal, however, if you do your research on what they inject into their chickens (one being lots of sodium) you can see why someone like myself would purchase a hormone free fresh chicken, not injected with nasty chemicals. I like knowing what is in the food I am eating. Convenience is great but not if it negates my health. Thx.
I can't wait for more videos on this unit....thanks again for your fun content
Your welcome Joe...thanks for watching!!!
I love your shows... I love the ninja videos!!!!
Hi there again ! Am going right now to find this & purchase it ! THANKS for the wonderful demo....
So good to be here....
Looks fantastic. Now I’m hungry. I will be doing this tomorrow. Thank you!!
It worked really well!!! Thanks for watching Pamela!!!
Thank you for this video!
I love this!!! I learn so much from you.
Soooo my Speedi is on the way
Great machine, i use it daily, thanks for another great video!
Yes it is...thanks for watching!!!

Love the channel brother 📸👈👍
Can’t wait to try this out
This machine steaming function sounds like good for beef short ribs. You can use sear to brown them and steam to cook slowly making them tender.

Thanks for the heads up on the spray bottle. Better to spend the $17 on one you know works well than 10-15 on one, then be unhappy with it forever.
Thank you for posting interesting informative video's is there any extra cook wear for baking etc
Chicken looks good! What is the brand of your thermometer? Thanks.

Do you think we can add stuff to the inside of the chicken?
Suspect that the next iteration of this cooker will have a built-in thermometer, so saving my money for now.
Doubt it. Thermometers are very sensitive and it’d still

Let's try a prime rib next John...!!

@@lausdeandl I'm struggling between chosing regular air fryer and Ninja Speedi. Is Speedy's Steam function a gimmick or is it real improvement?

*Could the Speedi cook an entire chicken from frozen using Steam Crisp mode? I'd really like to know* 🤔
hello if you want both sides of the chicken crispy, can you start it top down for 20 mins and then flip to bottom down for another 20 then maybe the 400 will work?
Would the bake/roast function work just as well since fan speed is variable
Steam like sear function has very low heat so no Browning
WILL YOU DO CORNISH HENS PLEASE
Great video! When making a complete meal will it cook frozen chicken or does it have to be fresh?
It automatically goes to sear from steam? Or you have to turn the knob to the other position to sear it? Thanks
It goes automatically to sear.
I'm gonna wait to see if they come out with a 8quart.

I'm in the fence about getting this one. Definitely functional, but do I need it?
It works well if it does what you need...
The meat looks a touch dry. What if you flipped the chicken halfway through for a bit of a rotisserie effect?
Which model,6qt or 8qt.
Hey John, great video! Do you think it will braise well? I’d like it for short ribs
What's the maximum size whole chicken can it take?
Hey John! Thanks so much for another great video! Just wondering, do you think you can use the MEATER with this unit or are you afraid of the steam?
I am not sure...a little worried about the steam on it...

Where in the world am I gonna be able to get an ancient thermometer like yours so I can do this right....I gots to have one🙃😅
It's been a good one...lol
So what makes this any different than regular foodie besides being square shape. Seams everything same temp, pressure cooking nothing but square shape

Hi John. You mentioned this is also a pressure cooker, but I’m not sure that is the case as the lid doesn’t actually seal to create pressure does it??
It’s definitely not a pressure cooker.
Do you clean all the Bottles and containers (Avocado sprayer, Lawry’s Container), since you handles the raw chicken then handle them?
Yes... it is really easy using the clorox sanitizer sprayer I have sitting on the counter during the video so it is easily seen... it is very important and should be done quite often... but I leave this type stiff out just for the ones that point this out a lot

They added extra to make the chicken weigh more.
You are probably correct...
Pretty sure "steam & crisp" should have a cup of water in the pot while cooking.
Yak...Yak...Yak
