- How to repotting Zamioculcas plant / ZZ plant
Propagating a ZZ plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia) is quite straightforward and can be done in a few simple steps. Here’s an easy method for you to try:
Materials Needed:
Healthy ZZ plant
Sharp, clean knife or scissors
Potting soil (well-draining mix)
Small pots or containers
Optional: rooting hormone
Method 1: Leaf Cuttings
Select a Healthy Leaf:
Choose a healthy, mature leaf from the ZZ plant. Ensure it’s free from pests or disease.
Cut the Leaf:
Using a clean, sharp knife or scissors, cut the leaf at the base of the stem where it attaches to the main plant.
Allow to Callus:
Place the leaf cutting in a dry, warm area for a few days to allow the cut end to callus over. This helps to prevent rot when planted.
Prepare the Pot:
Fill a small pot with well-draining potting soil. You can use a mix of regular potting soil and perlite or sand for better drainage.
Plant the Cutting:
Insert the callused end of the leaf into the soil, burying it about 1-2 inches deep. Press the soil gently around the cutting to hold it in place.
Water and Care:
Water the soil lightly to moisten it. Place the pot in a warm, bright location but out of direct sunlight. Keep the soil slightly moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can lead to rot.
Wait for Growth:
Leaf cuttings can take several months to develop roots and new growth. Be patient and continue to care for the cutting as you would the main plant.
Good job, guys!!. Thanks for sharing this amazing video!!. 🌻🌹
When it's that rootbound and you want to get rid of the soil and loosen up the roots without causing too much damage, place the plant in a bucket of lukewarm water for 10 minutes. :)
Also if any stalks get broken you can put them in water. In about a month they'll grow roots and you can plant them. Found this out when one of mine got broken!
Thank you so much! This evening I accidentally broke a stem of the black ZZ & had planted it in the soil! After reading this, I went running & put it in water! 😀😀😀
Ty
That's how I found out too..But it didn't break on it's own. My 5yr old snatched it off. I rooted it in water, put it in the pot with the mother, and now it has a root ball. So cool
I’m curious about why cutting the roots?! And if you water straight after the roots won’t root rot?!
People cut roots if they're real compact and they want the plant to be able to reach for more room in their new home and no, they won't get root rot if you water the roots
How old was this plant? People say they only get one new stem a year. I had no idea they had those bulb things. Mine only has three stems so won't need repotting for several years. 🤗
Forget about what people say. You need to check the roots at least once a year. If it looks root bound, it needs ro be moved to a bigger up no matter how long it has been
Good job
When the soil is totally dry u shd add water or water in 5days
Your ZZ are so healthy!!! How come mine are so skinny?!!! What I am doing wrong ? I have it my the window with indirect sunlight.
He is Professional
Your ZZ might just be young or just need some fertilizer!!
Repotting Zamioculcas are hard when the roots are compact. I salute you. I also have plants in my garden and I plant a Big Bok choy

👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🤙🤙🤙👌
wow amazing beautiful😍😍😍
E pianta grassa, che terra ci vuole per Zanzibar, grazie
Beautiful …what fertilizer do you use??
Would that be more easier to do if u water it the day before?
Probably not, the issue here was that the roots had grown and tangled into one another, if your dirt is hard then you should soak for a few minutes before repotting so it's easier to remove the dirt from the roots.
Where I can get that kind of soil ? Thanks for sharing 👍❤
i love the snake and zz plant they look so appealing to my eye
Gracias por esa demostración de cómo transplantar esa bella planta ahí hay producción buena idea👍🏼
조,
*great video. this tree is so easy to grow it can live on leaves or branches*
Thank you that was very helpful
Very Nice 👍👍👍
Good your video
Thank you 😀❤
👍👍👏👏
Great video!
Dividing my zz plant would always be one of my scariest experience 😂😂 you would lose lots of roots especially if it's root bound and would probably inflict lots of damage to the plant. They're tough plants anyways but it just scares me 😂😂
Do you have yo separate them?
@@saraitomblin9246 hun iv done that to my zz plants looks great for more growth it will be ok hun x
👍 Благодарю!💓
Bravo, odlično presadjivanje. Volela bih da znam sta je sve u sastavu za sadjenje. Hvala, veliki pozdrav 👍❤️🇲🇪🙋♀️🌹
Hi, Is it too late in the year to repot my zz plant? I recently bought it and it's completely root bound, the pot is badly distorted and there are roots hanging out of the pot. Thanks in advance.
