  • In this video we analyze the staring episode of Senator Mitch McConnell. Given his staring episode we have concern for seizure and unfortunately concern for brain tumor or bleed given his older age.

2:15 This type of "focal seizure" is especially scary if you consider someone driving at seventy miles per hour in moderately heavy traffic. A thirty-second episode of non-responsiveness translates to about six-tenths of a mile out of control if it makes it that far.

I love when professionals give their professional opinion, tragic that mainstream news cant ask for people like you to give their opinions more often

I couldnt agree more. Every news agency is acting like its some big mystery. When he had his first one , I knew exactly what it was because this exact thing happened me 3-4 times before I was diagnosed with full blown epilepsy. Any neurologist worth their salt could have told you EXACTLY what DocOssareh just said within minutes after he had that first episode Bravo Doc👍👍👍

Man there can be subtle and gradual cognitive impairment, especially after 70. We need both lower and upper age limits for civil service.

Doc, you state “eyes are still midline”…but in a closeup you can see the small jerking/twitching of his eyes. Coupled with tightened jaw pulled inward, and the fact that he swayed as if about to fall over…sure looks like seizure.

Hey DocOssareh- glad to have you back. I agree it's stroke vs seizure, but focal seizure/absence at his age vs TIA? He has a known cardiovascular history with previous bypass. He also had a fall in March at which time we would presume he had a head CT or MRI which could have detected an underlying malignancy? Not sure if he had a medical workup after this but he definitely needs an MR, EEG, CTA etc.

Focal point seizures from a flashing light. I don't know what they call it anymore.
YES, It's a focal point seizure. Lots of stress, booze, etc.
Any lesion on the brain will give ya focal points forever.
He can live for another decade and have multiple focal points.
If ya ever go to a Casino and a jackpot is hit..... you may see this type of seizure.
Flashing ambulance, police, fire trucks.... the people who run into the vehicle with a flashing red light. That's the biggest kicker for focal points.
Even the Brits are smart enough to have no red flashing lights.
I'd try to publish this but it's to important. A white flash can do a focal point. Depends how tired or stressed a person is. The red flashing lights are a guarantee. The red flashers could at least not flash at a defined frequency.
Anyone ever heard of the Mackinaw Bridge? Frequency. People are susceptible to frequency just like an engineers debacle.
I just would like everyone to be as brilliant as me rather than theorizing B.S. for fame.
Move along, nothing to see. No big deal. It happens. Mitch will be fine even if not many like a 100 year old politician like I don't.
He ain't going nowhere...... just gonna be a ban on picture taking. Pi$$ on the public, instead of retiring an old goat that is gonna go focal point every time his picture is taken.
50 years a politician is 45 years to long.

Probably a seizure 2ry to a vascular insult considering his age (seizure because of rapid return to baseline)
A vascular aetiology should be excluded (even amyloid spells ?)

Could we get another video or follow up with the new episode he had today (8/30/23)? Maybe the official cause has been released since last month but I haven’t seen it.
PS Love these videos where we can hear directly from the specialists without the constraints or bias that might come when they appear on official news programming (not necessarily on the part of the professional but whom the network green lights to appear). Earned my sub 👍

It's similar to absence as far as it being a 5-10 second staring episode that quickly resolves but absence seizures are virtually unheard of in 25+ year old adults. The brainwaves during an absence seizure generate more generalized 3hz spike and wave morphology. Whereas a focal seizure more common in adults would show a localized epileptiform brain morphology, possibly indicative of a tumor or bleed etc as the neurologist mentioned. (Not a MD, just a neurodiagnostic tech speculating)
