I remember Atlus saying they gave him a Jamaican accent because it sounds friendly, guess it makes sense since Cielo is one of the more friendlier or goofy characters in DDS.
I loved how much characterization everyone got in the first game. Cielo changing from a robotic "mission control" into a Jamaican bro was one of the best! Too bad the third game was scrapped and the second game had to cut back on a lot of plot. It seems like Cielo's back story was scrapped too. Cielo being Jamaican is most likely not a random decision but one that reflected his real world counterpart that we never got to meet. (all we know is that he was implied to be a gifted child like Sera) I really wish we had more games like DDS in SMT. Story and character focused games that are more like a traditional RPG with simple mechanics. I mean... I guess persona is story and character focused but it's a lot less fantasy than usual SMT.
@@Radio_CosmicRay It's been a long time so I don't remember much, but basically it was supposed to be a trilogy but after the first game was released they changed it to a duology. I don't remember why. You can really tell because the first game has very little story and is overall feeling small, then the second game is like the exact opposite, jam-packed with story and twists in every single dungeon, lots of party members dying, so many things going on and at the same time there's still a bunch of plots that are barely expanded upon (mostly everyone's origin's stories). The second game really feel like they jammed two games into one.
I remember making a theory that Cielo was never based off of an actual person and that Sera created him cause she wanted the ,,buddy" type of character in her little world Well, i believed my own theory until i found out about Quantum Devil Saga where we get a character who Cielo was based off of
@@peropero2208ctually, Cielo's identity is already heavily implied by one of Karma Society scientist in DDS2, iirc if you talk to the scientist npc in front of Karma Tower after you destroyed the EGG, he will mention it that there was Jamaican child as a test subject
I hate to admit this, but I only realized the whole "personality reawakening" thing after Cielo suddenly got a Jamaican accent. I seriously didn't even notice until then.
May I have a request? In human battle mode, cast members said something before and after battle. Could you compile them please 🥺? Here's what I remembered : Argilla : "It's the only way" Heat : "Your ass is mine!" Cielo : "You asked for it!" I'll put down more when I remember it.
Just gonna correct the battle quotes: Heat: "C'mon... your ass is mine!" Argilla: "I'm sorry... I'll make this quick." Gale (barely remember this one): "[REDACTED]. Proceed with caution." I bet they gave him a Jamaican accent just because of the Dreadlocks. lol
isn't Cielo canonically from Jamacia?
@@tgrgjii8076 He is. WIki says Cielo also has a Jamacian accent to demonstrating his easy going nature better.
there's also that jamaican drink called the Cielo Mist
Oh so he *IS* Jamaican? Huh, pretty cool either way
and im pretty sure you can buy a Cielo Mist in some Persona game.
Not only Gale’s -I do not comprehend- is a thing, but also Cielo’s strong Jamaican accent when he awakens.
Thank you for this like, seriously I deadass had to rewatch play-throughs for Cielo scenes
I honestly thought it was a mistake he had a different accent near the start
Meh if they really did want to sell the accent they should've thrown in a bit of jamaican creole dialogue

It's funny how for most of the game he speaks normally until right before point 136.
well to be fair thats when he gets his emotions

There's whites in Jamaica
