The Millington engine just sounds as if it always wants to give, give and then give some more, absolutely wonderful - flat out and sideways you cannot beat it!!
I used to tire of the constant stream of escorts at rallies in the 80s. Now thank god I can still be reminded of the induction of these engines. God bless these guys for keeping it alive. Still should be manual gearboxes though!

They wont be 500bhp more likely around 300-350bhp the millington powered escorts.i think the 2.5 millington diamond series has around 350bhp somewhere around that.but do think some of these escorts are bda powered.!!

No not really. Not all Americans like battleship cars powered by v8's. The turbo revolution happened in the 80s in America. And I'm pretty sure this car would have been magic with an SVO Mustang turbo motor but with dual cams or a supercharged v6 from a Supercoupe or even the Yamaha v6 from the Taurus SHO.
turshin Find me a car of this size and comparable engine that sold well in the USA. What you don't get is that these had CRAP power stock, nobody would have given this car a second look in 70's America. Nobody cared about them in 70s europe either they were just another car

Mk II escort being on my top five favorite cars to own and mod. We got the Sierra Cosworth in the form of the xr4ti minus the Cosworth engine and that did descent for a special production car. In the 70's no it wouldn't have done well at all but, the turbo crazy scene in the US in the 80's it would have out ran the Mustang given one of the power plants I mentioned earlier.

I've seen new shells for sale. They are being manufactured again. Cost about 7500 Euros I think. Would love to get one and build up an Escort.
