    Man I miss the old cammies and boots.... that was always the best way to know the shitbirds and nonhackers from the squared away

    @vdiva18 The main reason for that is that the newest DI takes the maggots out for initial drill. After initial drill the drill goes from the EDI teaching drill to the SDI taking over and finishing the drill movements to include the *special* movements. We also spend a lot of time with our NCO sword as WE are graded at final drill also so we have that thing in our hands a lot and it just becomes an extension of your arm I guess. I never thought about it much until you mentioned it.

    that one recruit at 3:29 didnt look down the chamber on the inspection arms, the DI and drillmaster were looking right at him, how did they miss that?

    ahh 2nd BN, I was in 2nd BN Hotel company 2090, and my senior DI was SSGT Gunther in '96. To all those about to enter the Marine Corps, let me tell you this, graduating - walking across that parade deck, after such tough training. There is no greater feeling, the pride and honor you feel just for yourself can never be duplicated. That is your mission, never fail, never slack. Its tough, but tough for a reason! You'll understand why, when you march across that parade deck.

    drill instructor. things must have changed since 1991. i was 2nd battalion, hotel company, plt 2037. for initial drill it was our senior green belt that took us out for initial drill. he and our senior were the only 2 ( we had 5 drill instructors) drill instructors who taught drill. the other green belts simply assisted ( corrected us), made sure our thumbs were on our trouser seams, etc. we stated with 3 drill instructors and picked up 2 more towards the end of first phase.

    @kingtaythe2 He is the Guide of the platoon. The guide is typically the one who displays the most leadership in the platoon, is physically and mentally sound and is HIGHLY motivated at all times. Come to think of it... I was the guide of my platoon (2077) back in 1987.

    Also, my brother is a Marine, and we talk all the time. Play XBox together and the whole nine and we both honor our own branches and he and I are the few servicemen that understand it is more important to honor the other branch with our warrior hearts as much as we honor our own branch.

    @usmcsdi69: I heard about that. That stinks not being able to Roll the Sleeves up on Garrison but it is what it is. Love the Corps but that was 1 thing I loved once the Spring Time came that we could Roll our Sleeves up. I heard our Brothers in the Army can't either now.

    @TOWgunner77 I've noticed the same thing. The Corps is a bit different now that they've been in a combat mode for the better part of 7 years. Not that it should change the physical standards or anything. It's a good question though. No... did not know a McCoullough.

    I'm a DEP Poolee and my ship date is just a month away so i'm trying to learn absolutely as much as about close order drill and whatnot before i go, so my question is at 3:28, why does the one recruit not do what the rest are doing? and if someone could please exactly explain what the command "Inspection _____" is? i didn't quite hear what came after "Inspection".. =/. would appreciate it

    @dvdludlum That one recruit at 3:28 is an idiot. Not sure why he didn't inspect his chamber. However, if you do mess up during COD, you are not supposed to correct yourself until given the command to do so by your DI or SDI. The command is "Inspection Arms"

  • @TOWgunner77

    When was this video shot? Old cammies and boots. Still in the 1990s? The real question is it pre-crucible boot? Odd how these recruits look meaner, tougher and bigger than the ones in the more recent boot vids. Oh, and better at drill too.

    @usmcsdi69 No, no sgt you seriously have gunny roles lol even my commies could have given you a paper cut lol. Man i miss that place, i should have been a DI instead of getting out. Its been almost 10 years since i left boot but maybe 6 since i been back to the island. Do you know a Ssgt MOORE (my former senior and silent Drill team member?)

  • @TOWgunner77
    @TOWgunner77 13 лет назад

    @usmcsdi69 do you happen to know SDI SSGT McCoullough? He got out as a SSGT I believe. He was my senior. I was Plt 1117, reservist and then went active. Why do these recruits look 1. fitter than the ones today and 2. why are these recruits noticeably better at drill? FYI, My compliments SDI, excellent job. I've watched a couple recent vids of boot, the recruits look...well...weaker?

  • @Robbob9933
    @Robbob9933 14 лет назад

    @drifter847 No, Being a Sergeant in the Marine Corps dose not make you a Drill Instructor.

  • @97blackfang
    @97blackfang 13 лет назад

    @FretBanger
    Are you fucking serious? I have done my time on the trail as a Drill Sergeant F/795 14th MP BDE and earned my title as a Marine in 94. I can tell you for one inspection arms in the army is slightly different. Second, Marine recruits are far more disciplined and go through a much tougher basic training.
    BTW, yes you should hear one sound, but if you read SGT White's video topic this is practice aka preparation, not the real deal killer. Save your garbage for someone else.
