    Hey Stewart, I loved part 1&2 of your LOFOTEN photo expedition!! Beautiful images indeed. I found your channel through Thomas Heaton's News letter this week, in a link to your "Selling Prints VLOG" I
    I went to Lofoten in Feb 2020, just prior to that global Virus problem :(. I was there for 7 days (From Australia) it's a LON, LONG way to go, but worth every $ spent. I would love to go back there ASAP and explore that wonderful place. Vastly different to the Australian landscape. Cheers from Aus

    great video Stuart when you see the conditions you were facing at times. Absolutely loved that hut image with the yellow trimming. I guess the temptation in being in a place with the options for composition is to run about grabbing as much as you can as opposed to be carefully selecting what you want to capture

    • @StuartMcGlennon
      @StuartMcGlennon  Год назад +1

      Cheers mate, it certainly can be though I’ve been doing this far too long now to fall into that trap as it rarely yields the best results. We spent a good amount of time recce’ing these spots as you’ll see in the second video as if you don’t you end up chasing your tail in such a place.

    Hi Stuart, i agree with you, most of the scenes look straight out of a film set. I can quite understand how the video gets sacked off as you'll be just like a kid in a sweet shop, albeit you need to wear proper thermals for sure. Nice to see the Z gear is holding up to what are obviously pretty arduous conditions .. and you too. Looking forward to part 2.

  • @ianpinion4997
    @ianpinion4997 Год назад +1

    It looks breathtaking, Stu, but in all fairness, how easy was it for you to find an amazing composition in that winter wonderland? We all know there's far more to it than simply putting your tripod down completely randomnly and finding by chance you have a lovely composition. Could you easily get distracted by something that looked tempting at first glance, but on closer inspection the elements did not combine as well as you'd hoped? So working in these surroundings, contending with the extreme cold, did you find it required an extra level of concentration or no more so than shooting in your native Lake District?
    The images all looked superb and I'm sure the three of you had a fabulous time out there, but do you wished you'd stopped out there longer or was the length of your trip about right? Can't wait to see the next installment.

    • @StuartMcGlennon
      @StuartMcGlennon  Год назад +2

      Thanks Ian, of course it’s not that simple and it’s not to be taken literally, just a reflection of the amazing surroundings - still have to work for the images like anywhere else. The only thing that’s ever a distraction is filming video, other than that the rest is autopilot, it’s what years of practice prepares you for.

    Beautiful images Stuart. Were you disappointed that it was so easy to produce such stunning photographs?

    • @StuartMcGlennon
      @StuartMcGlennon  Год назад

      Thanks Ken - interesting question. I think there's parts of Lofoten where the challenge to a skilled/experienced photographer isn't all that great especially in favourable conditions like we had during our trip, but then that's true of many photogenic landscapes.
      The flip side was the images made around Eggum in the blizzards like the blue hut and many others that haven't made the vlogs (some of these are in part 2 tomorrow) were highly rewarding as you're unlikely to really have seen any of them from Lofoten before. So in that sense a lot of the shooting I did was very rewarding. What I actually got filmed was tiny slice of the 10 days to be honest.
