Thanks for the video! Unfortunately, my attempt ended the same way. But at the very least, this helped me confirm that there was nothing I could do.
How difficult was it to get ahold of the new unit two years ago?

Electronic repair is not your strongest. But the videos are entertaining. Thanks.

In this video the internal fuse was bad, but something internal in the controller was also damaged when the fuse was damaged, so it wasn’t able to be salvaged for experimentation.

I'm sitting here squirming dude, I can't believe you did that, why would you jump out a fuse?

Because they have blown fuses before but because of an external factor. Jump them out and the controller works fine, but obviously can't be used in a unit. Makes a great learning tool if you can get one that isn't non repairable like this one was. Not for the faint of heart. Plus, I was plugged into a power strip that would trip if it was too bad. Worst that would have happened would be letting the smoke out and tripping a breaker.

Tom or should I say Patrick Bergin? 🤣
Okay enough of that, I keep the milwaukee m12 soldering iron and a small array of relays, fuse and veristors in the van for late night/weekend repairs. I work mostly on light commercial refrigeration equipment and ice machines. While I don't resort to that level of repair very often I do keep boards I've repaired in the truck for emergency situations until I can return with a new replacement. Thanks for posting Patrick..... I mean Tom. Have a great 4th!

@@tcphvacr9950 At least, you found the short. It may still be repairable.
