Great video. However you cannot be 100% sure that the movement is fully authentic unless the case back is removed and the movement checked thoroughly, especially important if you bought your stock from the trade or a private seller / flipper.
Reason I will not buy a Rolex pre-owned. Even the official pre-owned don't do enough checks. Market is flooded with fakes, and the box / paperwork is the easiest part to fake.
True, there are some very convincing fakes knocking about (thanks China). Just bought a JC Deep Sea so took it to a dealer I know. He didn’t remove the back but had a good gander with a x10 loupe. No flags… phew!
@@JustMeTalking With a x10 loupe there are loads of flags you can spot on a so called ‘super clone’ Grey dealers have been duped with fakes but it’s rare. I know a couple of dealers and I know for a fact they wouldn’t get done with a fake…

I disagree that a dealer should not remove the back cover and bracelet off for purposes of inspection. I have seen many videos where someone opens the case and finds a cheap Chinese movement sit where the Rolex movement should sit. Even the Ebay authenticators remove the case and inspect the movement as part of the authentication process. It's better to know what you are buying rather learning years later that you been scammed.

Come on now Charlie - you know better than anybody that the air has been comimg ut of the Rolex 'bubble' for most of its models over most of the past year. Sure it hasnt been a collapse, but a long, slow puncture. Its not a matter of opinion but a matter of fact. The question is how long will it before the most popular models are within a reasonable distance from RRP, and when they are all the other models will be at or below RRP. Personally I wouldnt dream of buying a Rolex at a significant premium to RRP, either from an AD or in the grey market, but if you have money to burn, be my guest.
I agree with Charlie that the majority of people who leave comments wouldn’t even by a Rolex from an AD at list price. I do think that the majority of watches are back to prices around the very beginning of Covid. I registered my interest in a Rolex GMT Batman oyster at 3 different AD’s (all owned by different companies) the grey market price at that time was around £12-12,500 and they aren’t very much more in the current market. Obviously there are a fair few models that will become available if you walk in to your AD but models that have always made a hefty premium are S/S Daytonas and the chances of you walking into an AD to purchase one is virtually zero. Everyone thinking that the grey market dealers are destroying the watch market are crazy. Grey markets in all genres of business have been going on a lot longer than any of us were born and will continue to do so. Just my opinion as usual guys.
Grey market dealers are not rip off merchants. They sell at market prices. The market determines the price, not the dealers. When interest rates went to near 0%, this affected spending. All assets, property, luxuary items went crazy. You would be better ending the government and central banks, that cause inflated prices through monetry policy.
Interesting that in the UK opening the caseback invalidates the warranty. In the US, Canada, etc., it would be illegal for manufacturers to invalidate warranties merely for that reason.
I think Tudor is priced right. You get a LOT of watch for the money. They're moving to in house movements, have METAS, great bracelets, clasp adjustment, and nice finishing. All for 3-4k USD. The brand which is not priced right is Omega. Omega moved their prices upmarket to keep a gap. But it's gone too far. Omega has lost its value-for-money moniker and is now in direct competition with Rolex, and if Rolex watches start to become more available (as it looks like they may be), or if the economy tanks, then they will be up a creek because any layman will pick the Rolex. Omega needs to stop making so many damn special editions, make their watches thinner, catch up to everyone else on power reserve, and make more good bracelets other than for the 3861 Speedy.
I didn’t think taking the case back off did invalidate the warranty ? Tons of dealers do it? I wouldn’t feel comfortable buying one that hadn’t been checked.
Good stuff Charlie. Thanks. Question. Do you cover the import fees on watches sent to the US or is that a component for US buyers need to plan for? Thanks!
There's a very small chance the watch will have issues in the first 2 years. I believe Rolex also has a 5 year warranty included with the watch purchase now.

I haven’t heard you talk about the platinum day date range in a really long time. What do you think its position is in today’s market? Specifically the ice blue dial with any configuration I.e. baguette, Roman, or stick.
There’s still no watches available at my 2 local AD’s except for Gold Skydwellers’s or the odd Gold Datejust 40 .. They simply said the demand is the same as ever, they have zero control what stock they receive monthly.. Nothing changed I guess !
Where are you from? Took me 4 months to get a submariner? Only ever bought a Tag and a Breitling from AD before(over an 18 year period) Enquired end of August 23 and I got it 7th Jan 24
Well it does because two years ago they didn’t even have those gold watches you mentioned. Even 6 months ago there was next to nothing. Rolex are starting to get the watches in - I bought a DJ41 mint green at the weekend. You gotta remember, as a business Rolex have to be very careful how they feed the market now. If they fill the windows with GMTs and Subs all ready to buy, then the perceived desirability will start to drop. Part of the desire of Rolex now is the fact they are hard to get. They will turn the tap back on very slowly, which is why you are seeking the expensive precious metals for sale first.

Good video as always Charlie. I have a question, my AD made me pay 100% for my watch (batgirl) and the invoice states “special Rolex order” do you know what that means? And thank you in advance.
I personally believe prices are in consolidation. They may drop a bit in the short term but i expect prices to start rising slightly this year (dependant on when rates start cutting). Been watching prices since the boom - they’re still pretty healthy. Until we start seeing Rolex SS subs below retail on reseller sites then we’re far from the bubble bursting. We’re just not in the right place in the financial cycles for this to happen at the moment.
Great review Charlie! You mentioned my 2024 rolex two tone diamond black dial Daytona. Man it’s so beautiful in person not sure what its not so popular. The dial is gorgeous.

Yeah, I’m watching the market constantly and reserves are not being met and a lot of watches are sitting and collecting dust. Blue face sky dwellers are as low as 20k and still dropping. Went to my AD who is now owned by Rolex and man they had some heavy hitters in the window. Factory diamond pave dial on a yacht master. Big gold pieces too. Man it sucks to catch a falling knife 🔪 I do think prices will be a lot lower this summer.

What about the 116508 full yellow gold Daytona ( full gold pikachu ) do you think it’s a good time to buy ? And is it a nice investment piece on the long run ?
Great bunch questions this Sunday Charlie. I’m more a GMT guy over Submariner. GMT especially in two tone can be a dress watch as well as everyday. Also prefer the Datejust over plain OP. Especially with fluted bezel. I guess I’m bias cos I have M126231-0023 and 126713GRNR😊

Ive bought three Rolex watches. Submariner, black and blue GMT and Milgauss my wife wanted. Bought them to wear and we enjoy them every day. Every once in a while I check for something new in watches and Rolex is always ahead of the herd. Check prices? Sure. You can count on it going up little by little. If I sold any one of them for what I bought it, it would be ripped out of my hands by the buyer, and I wore it for free for a couple years. Sell it right and I make 1-2k on any one of them. Buy the Rolex you like and wear it. 10 years from now check it out and youll be happy. Forget the haters, they hate cause they cant afford it. Notice how much they know about the market, EVERYTHING! but they have never bought one. Save your money and buy the rolex you like, it wont let you down.
That is absolutely spot on and the best way to do it! 🙌 you’ve got such an incredible collection by the sounds of it, which I’m sure is only going to expand more! 👌🏻
My favourite right now is the rootbeer, what a beautiful watch. The two tone yellow gold is a bit too flashy for me and I find the rose gold two tone of the Rootbeet so soft in the eye, the rose gold mix well with the skin color, such a beautiful watch, underrated atm. I hope to gewt the money before they skyrocket. (I am afraid they discontinue it and the hype come...)
How is making a common sense economy 101 comment “negative”.? ALL luxury good are experiencing less demand. There are obviously Rolex’s everywhere. You can literally have almost any model you want in 24 hours in mutilples if you want to pay the price. True scarcity would be you couldn’t get one at any price. We are one big economic scare from a crash in those prices and you know that.
I might be "conspiracy theorist" but I did call rolex would start dealing used before they did, my why though is there are to many used Rolexs out there. I'd be looking for a leak of Rolex destroying older watches in five years.
@@spittinvenom9843 not true. Breitling for example, they make beautiful watches , but are not at the same level as Rolex and should be priced accordingly. I’ll pay 5-7k for a Breitling, but if they’re charging 10k, I’m buying another Rolex. Same with Zenith, Panerai and Omega.
Lol , Grey market dealer can never admit Rolex bubble had burst. My belief is Grey Market dealers caused the prices to go stupid to create a situation where no one could get a watch. Never buy a Rolex above list price.
I dont understand why a dealer would advise someone not to buy a Rolex Day date???? If the person loves the watch, buy it. Plain and simple. I guess this is for someone who only buys watches for resell on the mind only!
Can’t get a Rolex from an AD in Japan and you can’t get one in Ohio. Saying the Rolex bubble has burst is nothing more than a social media hook. It will take a few years , then the watch hype will be over for most of the flippers. Then we watch enthusiasts can go back to collecting.
Rolex loves to create "hype models" in very limited numbers so people are forced to buy the less popular models (i.e. solid gold stuff) to "get on the list" for the most popular stuff. It's evil and brilliant all at the same time.
I gave up with Rolex, A.Ds lying, scalpers, fakes, years of scamming buyers...I've bought two Omega lately and they made me to dig in other brand's inventories, I'm looking after an IWC at the moment.
Thanks Charlie. Of interest for the first time in many years I am now getting offered watches by my AD. No steel sports or Panda Daytona but offered a Rootbeer (in a couple of months which I have said yes to). Any high-end Skydweller (rose or normal gold, any bracelet) for immediate delivery, high-end Daytonas (offered a Ghost in 12 months which I have said yes to). Basically something has changed and higher-end Rolexes are available. But if you want a Panda or Pepsi basically they said no chance. Interesting....

I had my Daytona serviced and bracelet exchange by Rolex, fantastic job, like new, lots of paperwork with it, I wouldn’t go near an independent service.
Some mention of Omega today. I went into an indie watch dealer this weekend, kinda interested in an Omega 300m Diver with the white dial. Said I may trade my 116900 AirKing in. Dealer looked at me like I was mad and said am I sure. Good or bad idea? I fancy that white dial Omega.
I think that is the key; Value. I'm also mindful that I can get an Omega almost anytime, but can't replace a Rolex easily. I've been to that dealer twice .... Once a few years ago when Covid uncertainty was still a thing. He discouraged me then too. If I dealer says don't swap, maybe I should listen! @@thehonestwatchdealer

I have a 41mm jubilee fluted steal Wimbledon is this a good long term hold investment will they get discontinued?
Thank you for watching mate, yes this model should be a good model to hold for the long term! 👌
46K subscribers! Congrats brother, your channel is growing so nicely! I look forward to your new video every week and hope to buy a watch from LWC one day to support the business. I just grabbed a 126618ln (underrated watch in my opinion) but I'll be in the market for a daily (either OP or sub no date) sometime in the near future. Thanks for doing what you do!
Thank you mate I really appreciate that, thanks for being a fan of the channel!
Such a great pickup, congratulations on your stunning new watch, and I look forward to having you in the Boutique one day! 🙏
I haven’t heard you talk about the platinum day date range in a really long time. What do you think its position is in today’s market? Specifically the ice blue dial with any configuration I.e. baguette, Roman, or stick.
They can be quite slow in the current market being such a high RRP - stunning models though!
Only ever bought a Tag and a Breitling from AD before(over an 18 year period)
Enquired end of August 23 and I got it 7th Jan 24
Well it does because two years ago they didn’t even have those gold watches you mentioned. Even 6 months ago there was next to nothing. Rolex are starting to get the watches in - I bought a DJ41 mint green at the weekend. You gotta remember, as a business Rolex have to be very careful how they feed the market now. If they fill the windows with GMTs and Subs all ready to buy, then the perceived desirability will start to drop. Part of the desire of Rolex now is the fact they are hard to get. They will turn the tap back on very slowly, which is why you are seeking the expensive precious metals for sale first.
ADs are currently experiencing huge demand.
@@eerr1438 probably a year in Toronto ADs for less desirable models for good customers. I saw a guy come off the street looking for an easy to get James Cameron and they told him 2 yrs. They added a year because he was a rando off the street.
Hopefully things will turn around for the better for your AD soon 👍
I'm kinda over Rolex, honestly. I wouldn't buy used unless it was under msrp.
ADs giving discounts.... tell me which ones ? Thanks
In Denmark none of them do publicly. But UK the most ones do because the recession is worse than here 😊
They are doing in the Caribbean on expensive models.
I believe if Rolex finds out they are discounting, they are in trouble.
Enjoyed your vid, always good to hear your insight to the market.. you proved your stuff on the Blueberry vid couple weeks ago! On my radar to add to collection (nr 5 - you are a mind-reader!) See if might get down to £27's .... agree market now to enjoy the pieces. Cheers...
Thank you Martin,
So glad you enjoyed the review, I really appreciate the feedback - such a great one to aim for, hopefully you manage to source one soon 👌
Excellent as always Charlie, keep up the great work. 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻😁
Thanks for tuning in Dave, hope you’re well mate! 🙌
I have the Platinum Daytona with the Aribic numbers. Definitely a statement piece!
Absolutely - such an incredible model to have in your collection 👌
@@thehonestwatchdealer yes sir!
Charle can you tell me where to get a wall clock like that please
Had them such a long time I can’t quite remember now, a quick Google search will throw up similar options though 👌🏻
Two tone is lovely 🎉 imagine is they did a rose gold two tone sub! 🎉
That would look incredible wouldn’t it, let’s see what they release this year! 🤞
Good video as always Charlie.
I have a question, my AD made me pay 100% for my watch (batgirl) and the invoice states “special Rolex order” do you know what that means? And thank you in advance.
Thank you mate, I really appreciate that!
Not quite sure what that means, a lot of ADs have their own way of doing things 👍
Spot on there Alex, thank you for watching and will be interesting to see what happens with the market this year 👌
Great review Charlie! You mentioned my 2024 rolex two tone diamond black dial Daytona. Man it’s so beautiful in person not sure what its not so popular. The dial is gorgeous.
Thank you Luis! Glad you enjoyed this one.
Yes such a great combination isn’t it, enjoy it mate!
How would Rolex know that you opened the caseback?
Oh they can tell if the caseback has been removed or any part of the watch has been tampered with 👍
*Thank you for sharing your insights!* *Smiles*
Thank you mate I really appreciate that! 🙌
Will the rootbeer two tone be a good long term hold?
Very popular model, should be a good one for the long term 👌
I thought the Rolex Bubble is burst for awhile already.
Love your channel but can u do a one on Datejust 41 motif dial
Thanks mate, I’ll see what I can do 👌🏻
@@thehonestwatchdealer thanks mate on your forts and the market prices just a like them and fancy buying one and you seem very honest which I appreciate you taking the time to share your opinion
@@Lostsome Thanks mate I really appreciate that! I'll see if I can make it happen 🙏
Yes similar stories from other AD's, the heavy hitting pieces are struggling to sell at the moment!
I got a call from the ad and got the green bezel sub . I'm happy and hungry for another one
How long did you wait?
Congratulations mate such a great one to get, enjoy it! 🙏
Liked the video. Just dont get people are so obsessed about the value on what you buy. These pieces are made to be worn the hell out of and enjoyed by its owner. Go buys stocks in stead 😊 Cheers
Thanks mate appreciate that! Buying to wear and enjoy is definitely the best way to go 👌🏻
Left field choice for a Rolex grail. Meteorite WG day date, fluted. The platinum I think is too heavy, although the white metal is whiter, i like the yellow tone to WG.
Such a stunning choice! Great taste 👌
Hi Charlie, what’s your colour prediction for the next Submariner, also when do you anticipate that to be? All calculated guesses obviously!
New releases will be announced at Watches and Wonders, we will have to see what they come out with! 🙌
just got into watches this past year and got a few rolexes including the paul newman oysterflex daytona, watched a lot of your videos to learn more about watches and wanted to say keep up the good work and professional content! If you ever wanna talk about content or watches, I'm around haha
Congratulations on getting the Paul Newman mate! Such a great watch, sounds like you have a stunning collection already! 🙌
Well there you go… I dug my heels in and refused to buy above retail during that madness, so glad it’s getting back to normal. I’d love Rolex to do a titanium range especially a titanium sub or an explorer would be fantastic. I bought the pelagos 39 last year and it’s so lovely to wear…. Super light and it feels warm and smooth when you put it on, it quickly became my daily. I can’t help fiddling with it and stroking while it’s on my wrist, it’s smooth like skin. Please Rolex make some titanium watches
More Titanium models would be fantastic wouldn’t it, let’s cross our fingers for Watches and Wonders 🤞
Hey Charlie, good stuff like always. My question is what’s a good Rolex or Cartier watch for women. Looking to get the wifey one. Price range 5k thru 10k.
Thanks Joe, glad you liked this one!
For a lady, a midsize Datejust is going to be your best bet 👌🏻
Thank you for the response. Hopefully if you could make a video in the future would be great. Rolex datejust sounds like the way to go. I was thinking white gold.

Thankyou mate I appreciate that! 👍
Had my name down for a JC Deep Sea for yonks. Just pulled the trigger on fully stickered beauty for significantly under list. Absolutely love it, don’t play the daft AD game. It’s a buyer’s market now, fill yer boots 😃👍
Congratulations Paul, such a stunning model enjoy it mate! 🙌
Concise, informative, precise and honest. I always look forward to your review.

Great video again and great questions as well!
I would like Rolex to give us the submariner on a oyster flex option, I guess we will find out in April!!
Thank you Dave! Yes that would look great wouldn’t it, let’s see what happens! 🤞
When you can buy the Pepsi at the AD for the suggested retail price…the bubble has burst.
Nope when you can buy a daytona in steel at retail then it has burst
What about the 116508 full yellow gold Daytona ( full gold pikachu ) do you think it’s a good time to buy ? And is it a nice investment piece on the long run ?
No. It will go under retail by the end of the year.
Full precious metal models are struggling at the moment.
Should be a good long term hold though 👌🏻
Great bunch questions this Sunday Charlie. I’m more a GMT guy over Submariner. GMT especially in two tone can be a dress watch as well as everyday. Also prefer the Datejust over plain OP. Especially with fluted bezel. I guess I’m bias cos I have M126231-0023 and 126713GRNR😊
Ah you are exactly right there Mike you have some great taste. The Bi-Metal GMT is great for all occasions 👌🏻
Charlie i bought a date sub off dealer in London £12.250 2018 partially stickered.
My AD had offered me a couple of years ago a brand new model of this but i refused it.i felt bad..i called the dealer i bought the 2018 and he offered me £8250.00 so im thinking of selling it to him and putting £800 of my money to buy the brand new one and it would keep me in the good books with the AD...what would you do???please help me make my mind up and if its to do the deal what watch do you suggest i ask for next...ive got the normal models but nothing like daytona
Please help me
Hi Dan,
Feel free to get in touch via the website and we can discuss your options, we would love to help 👌
If you use the right tools there is absolutely no way Rolex or anyone else would know if you had opened the case back to have a look...
I appreciate the honest discussions on the industry.
Thank you mate I really appreciate that 🙏
My favourite right now is the rootbeer, what a beautiful watch.
Such a stunning model you are right there, much more subtle than the Yellow Gold version, a really great combination 👌
love my batman - will never ever sell it!
Such a great model mate, enjoy it! 🙌
Was told can’t get a Pepsi but yes on new platinum with diamond dial 😂💰😳
Ahh no surprises there, pass on that one! 🙌
I agree with you that Omega, Breitling, Zenith and Panerai all need to decrease their prices, they are unrealistic.
Absolutely 👌🏻💯
But if they reduce their prices, people are going to criticize them for not being luxury watches
Always solid content
Thanks mate 🙏
no need to authenticate a watch when the AD is the one selling it to you.
White gold Rolex compared to AP white golds are insanely less shiny. I'm disappointed TBH.
Ah yes, Rolex does use their own special blend to create their white gold.
No it hasn’t. My AD still hasn’t called.
Hopefully you get the call soon mate! 🙌
Enjoyable and informative Charlie.just buy the watch you like and wear it, they are a long-term investment, the Rolex brand.
Spot on there Simon, thanks for watching! 🙌
I just want an Oyster Perpetual black dial 41mm ref 124300. Like pulling teeth trying to buy one. Really smh…
Hopefully you’ll get the call soon mate! Great watch 👌🏻
@@thehonestwatchdealer I may go used market. Explorers with boxes and papers are going for $6900. Tired of waiting for prices to come down
@@stuckie3916 definitely a good option to take! 👌🏻
People are tired of the over inflated prices and coming to their senses. Hope the dealers are proactive, the reactive dealers will get left behind.
Absolutely 👌🏻
Can’t get a Rolex from an AD in Japan and you can’t get one in Ohio. Saying the Rolex bubble has burst is nothing more than a social media hook. It will take a few years , then the watch hype will be over for most of the flippers. Then we watch enthusiasts can go back to collecting.
Absolutely! Some good times ahead for enthusiasts and collectors 👌🏻
I just got offered 6 watches from Rolex AD and turned them all down
Well done for turning them down! 🙌
Rolex loves to create "hype models" in very limited numbers so people are forced to buy the less popular models (i.e. solid gold stuff) to "get on the list" for the most popular stuff. It's evil and brilliant all at the same time.
Absolutely spot on there, that is their exact marketing tactic!
Another great video from a very honest watch dealer , thank you mate for your update and advice , spot on as usual 👍🏻💥💥
Thanks Paul, really appreciate that! Hope you’re well mate 🙏
I gave up with Rolex, A.Ds lying, scalpers, fakes, years of scamming buyers...I've bought two Omega lately and they made me to dig in other brand's inventories, I'm looking after an IWC at the moment.
IWC is such a great brand, hopefully you add one to the collection soon mate!
Yes things are definitely changing for the better - hopefully the more sought after pieces will be come more available too 🙌
As tragic as the Pandemic was it does at least seem to have made some people realise just how ridiculous coveting pointless trinkets is.
I can assure you...still you wont even get a new submariner in the AD
Would imagine it will still be difficult to obtain being the flagship model!
I’ve got a fake Rolex, it’s brilliant, 10 grand to tell the time
Hi Charlie

Yes exciting times ahead indeed!
I had my Daytona serviced and bracelet exchange by Rolex, fantastic job, like new, lots of paperwork with it, I wouldn’t go near an independent service.
I agree
Bitcoin is strong and I will be on my way to AD to buy my 3.rd Rolex. I like the two tone Daytona. I dont look for investment but to wear.
It is pumping! Good luck with your next purchase, definitely the best way to buy to wear 👌
I will definitely keep buying Rolex.
👌🏻💯
🏆Always on point 👉 🏆

Some mention of Omega today. I went into an indie watch dealer this weekend, kinda interested in an Omega 300m Diver with the white dial. Said I may trade my 116900 AirKing in. Dealer looked at me like I was mad and said am I sure. Good or bad idea? I fancy that white dial Omega.
Go for it! I think the Omega 300 with the white dial is quite a nice piece. Pocket the extra money and enjoy good health.
Make sure you get a healthy discount, I'd push got 20% and let them sit on it in a polite way.
As long as you get a good value for yours go with what you will enjoy most! 🙌
