The fact that Andrew’s Peter got visibly emotional after he successfully saved MJ from falling, was easily the quickest yet most powerful moment for me. You can tell how much he’d clearly replayed Gwen’s death in his head thinking about what he could have done differently and if that would have been enough to save her. And then he actually gets to act on it. It was beautiful.
Have to disagree with Tobey and Andrew not feeling like themselves. To me they felt like evolutions of the same character. Tobey was still that awkward Peter only this time he’s older, wiser, and so full optimism while being awkward. He felt just like I imagined an old Tobey Spider-Man would. Andrew felt like someone who was hurting and still trying to find new purpose a bit jaded and lonely and meeting the other Spider-Men helped bring about a joy of companionship that he was clearly missing and needed.
Exactly. They weren't pulled right after their movies ended. Their stories continued on past that point. Tobey's Peter was older and wiser, while Andrew's went through a really bad place and is recovering. They still reminded me a little of their old selves, but has changed somewhat due to their experiences.
Agreed. The villains acted about the same since they were coming from the point right before their deaths in their films yet Andrew and tobey had grown many years in their respective universes and obviously will act like a little differently.
Andrew Garfield was my favourite part of the movie honestly - never expected to say that but the emotional punch his character brought really solidified him in this movie and showed that yes, he was an amazing Spider-Man despite his movies being a little lesser!
@@roberttrevino62800 same. I think grace missed the mark there. Andrews energy felt exactly like the same , if not even better, than when we last saw him in TASM
The most I've ever cared about Tom Holland's Peter Parker was during that final sequence, in which everyone he knew forgot that he existed. That's the kind of thing that the Tobey Maguire movies did so well: they gave Peter a really hard time, constantly putting him in positions that made you empathize with him. And I finally felt that with Tom's Pete.
I've always been more a fan of the classic Spidey so I was a bit critical of the MCU Spidey. But this ending really does reset things. Even the costume he wore at the end was classic Spider Man.
I was so excited to see Tobey and it was absolutely incredible to see him again.. but I gotta say. Andrew Garfield. Wow. I don’t know if I’m reading too much into things but to me his defeated nature and low self-esteem felt like a reflection of his franchise ultimately failing on top of being just ripped to shreds over the years. So the sheer amount of love and respect this movie gives Garfield was a class act. I mean you literally have Toby Maguire, not only the OG Spider-Man, but the OG super hero that paved the way for Marvel and all other super hero franchises to be what they are today, telling him how amazing he is and that he needs to hear it and take it in.. just wow. That was the best part of the film for me.
I didn't like the Tobey and Andrew Spider-Man movies; I would have preferred if he fought alongside Miles and Daredevil, but I rolled with it. I liked the lab scene the best because Peter's supposed to be smart, but doesn't pursue a career in chemistry.
@@ShayneRawls I tried watching Blade (1998) this week, but fell asleep halfway through. Superheroes on film go back to the movie serials of the 1940s. George Lucas came up with Star Wars when he couldn't get permission to do Flash Gordon. He then teamed up with Stephen Spielberg for Indiana Jones but never did a superhero film, unless you count Howard the Duck (1986) which is above Blade on Wikipedia's list of films based on Marvel Comics. Maybe Blade paved the way, but I think X-Men (2000) is generally considered what launched Marvel Movies, and of course Iron Man (2008) launched the MCU.
I understand your thoughts on how Tobey's Spider-Man should've been the one in charge and calling the shots, but there's something they clearly pointed out in the movie: not only is this Tom's Spider-Man's universe, the other two Spider-Men have no idea about how to work with a team. We even saw them visibly messing up by getting in each other's way. Tom's Spider-Man had the team up experience, so he'd have a better insight of how to function as a team. So with that experience, plus it being his universe, Tom's Spider-Man being "Peter #1" makes sense.
Yeah Love Grace but the explanations for some of her concerns were right there in the movie. This being one of them. Another is Venom did know who Spider-Man was because they are multi-verse beings
Willem Dafoe was honestly one of the standouts to me. I thought his performance in this movie was even better than the first movie. And his fight scene with Peter in Happy’s apartment was perfect.
his performance was amazing and stole the show from me but his performance still wasn't as good as in Spiderman 1 that just tells you how good the og spiderman movie was written
I agree, this movie showed just how ill Norman was in the head, you could see him shift back and forth between the two personalities in his facial movements. What a great performance!
Marissa Tomei’s acting in THAT scene was incredible. I never felt attached to her character in this trilogy but her acting in THAT scene made me feel strong emotions.
Same. I always felt like she's miscast as Aunt May and generally just there as eye candy and potential romance partner of Tony or Happy. Her final scene and moments definitely elevated her character beyond my expectations to the point that I actually like her.
Alfred Molina's Doc Ock did feel like he stepped straight out of Spider-Man 2 in that first fight scene. That was great. "The power of the sun in the palm of my hand." All of his line-readings were perfect. I was so impressed with Molina and Willem Dafoe in this movie. They're just fantastic actors. They own the screen.
When Tom’s Peter is almost killing Green Goblin, and Andrew and Tobey look at each other, in just one look they are able to convey to the audience that they know what is going inside Tom and that they aren’t letting him do it, because they having through it all. One of my favorite scenes.
This is my favorite scene for multiple reasons, what you mentioned being one. But I think The brutalness of the fight was fantastic and Tom's acting in this entire scene was great.
Andrew's Spiderman saving MJ from falling had me and the theater in tears out of nowhere. Probably the best acting in the entire film, and it came from someone I didn't expect it to come from. A redemption that truly felt like the person could finally be happy again. Even though I read like 2 weeks ago from someone on Reddit predicting that exact scene (including Tom getting interfered with while trying to save her and Andrew being the one to do it). It hit harder than I thought even going expecting it.
Garfield basically said in an interview a few weeks back… “I’ve got to be better at my job than you are.” They we’re trying to weasel spoilers out of him, and he wasn’t biting. Actors are professional liars. They have to make you believe what you see from them is real. I think Andrew Garfield has every right to be very very proud of his work in this film. His acting chops have refined in the past few years, and he obviously had a great time coming back to this character. He had some great moments. I think his Spider-Man is tragic because he continues to be alone, and he infuses that quality so very well into what he presents. I loved his hair, too. 😍 I’ve not even seen the second film of Garfield’s. I only saw the first one once. 🤷🏻♀️
When they showed MJ fall in the previews, pretty much everyone guessed what would happen. Wish I'd blacked-out after the first trailer. Going to do that for Doctor Strange 2.
Tom Holland is the actor of his generation but come on... Andrew Garfield was nominated for Hacksaw Ridge and honestly should have been nominated for Best Supporting for The Social Network. I LOVE Tom Holland. but Andrew Garfield is a legendary talent.
I literally wanted to cry like six times. The scores of all three spideys, seeing Tobey McGuire for the first time in 14 years. This movie got so many reactions in my theater that it reminded me of pre-pandemic times during Endgame. This movie is easily 10/10.
What I absolutely love is how No Way Home is also continuing the stories of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man. The film doesn't forget what happened in the previous Spider-Man films. That moment when Doc Ock grabbed the Arc Reactor and said "The power of the sun, in the palm of my hand", that's exactly the reaction I wanted to see in the film. Same goes for Andrew's Spidey saving MJ callback. The reunion between Doc Ock and Tobey's Spider-Man was 17 years after Spider-Man 2. Seeing them share a scene again as their characters brought back my childhood.
My only regret is they could have added just a quick scene of Toby back in his universe with Kirsten Dunst’s MJ and Rosemarie Harris’ Aunt May back. Would have been the cherry on top but overall a solid film.
Electro got pulled in because he heard Gwen calling Spiderman by his real name, although he never knew how he looked. Venom was pulled in because Venom tells in the post credits from the Carnage movie that it has the knowledge of all the symbiotes throughout the multiverse, hinting at Topher Grace's memory.
@@sandal_thong8631 Basically Venom has knowledge of the multiverse because he has a "hive mind like" connection to other symbiotes across the multiverse. So since there are other versions of Venom that know Peter Parker is Spider-Man, Venom also knows and got pulled into the MCU with Eddie Brock cluelessly along for the ride.
@@gastererror2563 "They're drawing power from the Earth's core." -Mysterio "Now that's some bullshit." -Nick Fury Skrull "He has a hive mind connection to other symbiotes across the multiverse." "Now that's some bullshit." It would have made more sense and make me want to watch Venom 2, if the end credit scene is a fight with a version of Spider-Man, and/or San Francisco-based Spider-Woman and just as Venom is about to die he's transported to the MCU.
As Doc Ock said, his Peter Parker is all grown up. I imagine his Peter Parker and MJ (Kirsten Dunst) are married, I was waiting for Tobey to say that but we never heard it.
@@Ghostrider-ul7xn First he said it was complicated then he said that they fixed things. Whenever he talked about his relationship it reminded me of peter ben parker from into the spiderverse
I felt that Andrew’s Peter had a lot of self deprecating humor and moments of regret that he masked with jokes. It was a lot deeper than just being a “swell guy”
It was honestly so wholesome and great to see both Tobey and Tom hype him up when he felt weak compared to them (just like in real life amongst fans). It was great and subtle metahumor, as well as calling him The Amazing Spider-Man. I grinned pretty cheekily at that line
I have had a strong love for Andrew’s Spidey since The Amazing Spider-Man and I feel he was unfairly cut off at the knees right before he could really take off. Seeing Tobey did feel really good still, but Andrew being there was just awesome vindication for an underrated interpretation of the character. When he saved MJ I literally did a double fist pump cheer in my seat! It was such a powerful moment and Andrew just killed it in the most amazing (ha) way!
This just proves that Andrew Garfield would have brought something incredible to Peter Parker had his movies been allowed to continue. The redemption/closure he received from saving MJ was so incredibly satisfying and it’s the main thing that really stayed with me after the movie was over. I really hope we’ll get to see him again.
Loved when Doctor Strange pushed Peter's astral form out of his body and you could visually see his Spidey senses. The effect was super cool and extremely accurate to the comics.
DISSAGREE: I do think Tobey and Andrew were acting a bit different than they did in their solo films but remember, they weren't just back, they were transported into another reality meeting their multiverse selves. I don't think you can judge their entire personalities on how they act in that scenario. That being said, they still seemed happy to be there and the chemistry between Peters was on point. It is so surreal seeing the three Spider-men together on screen that It will always feel like its an SNL or parody to some degree. But I felt the film did an unbelievable job giving them all good moments, having real chemistry like they are brothers, good humor, and not feeling awkward or forced. The scene when they all swing together and land was an all timer. I don't think Goblin got the better of Peter. He stabbed him while he was stopping Tom Peter from murder. I didn't think Tobey looked weak in that moment. It was a typical evil villain moment.
At first I thought Ned transported them from their own universes. Grace was right that it didn't make a lot of sense for them to be wandering around for a day.
@@sandal_thong8631 yeah, what was the logic behind it..anyone who knows peter parker(including peter parker) would be transported...was that the idea?? Then it would explain why we didnt have gwen or miles ig...
Agreed! Tobey is coming in like nearly 20 years later - I don't understand Grace's point on that AT ALL. But most people seem to disagree with her in the comments, so she clearly has an unpopular opinion.
@@UrbanDecayLova247 I did like the idea that Tobey could have May-Day Parker in training at home. Maybe he keeps having an on-again, off-again relationship with M.J. which he calls "complicated." "We fight we break up, we kiss we make up."
Ya i agree, ive always thought he was the best one but then to see it again with the other 2 and him nail it was awesome, and he deserved it after everyone buggin him about this movie while he was promoting his new movie haha
@@marked4death076 I know. I felt it was so unfair that his amazing performance in Tick Tick Boom was kinda getting overshadowed by the hype around this movie. And he couldn't just confirm and get it over with.
I loved Tobey's take on definitely a WISE Peter Parker. It's been nearly 20 years. So of course he would act different! And also loved they gave the chance for Amazing Spiderman to redeem himself. Also loved they kept calling Andrew's Spidey "Amazing."
Matt Murdock's cameo was great. He seemed like exactly the same character we've grown to know and love in the Netflix shows. And I hope Kingpin does too in the final episode of Hawkeye. Matt would be getting much more buzz and attention now if this movie didn't have so much else to talk about.
It was great. The shot of the three of them swinging together and landing in order of their film series was everything I wanted and more. Andrew saying “I always wanted brothers” melted my heart.
I thought Andrew stole the show. He fit so well in the MCU I’m left with wanting to see way more of his Spider-Man. I felt that Tobey was a bit awkward in the MCU and I agree that their characterization was off from their original films...prob to fit the MCU humor. Tobey felt a bit wasted would’ve loved some more dorky moments from him. Tom was good as usual.
In UK theatres, audiences rarely react or make noise but in my screening everyone reacted/applauded in unison 🤣🤣 especially when Andrew and Tobey showed up
I've always been one of the people that have ripped Garfield's movies apart over the years and I admit that I felt awful watching this movie. I kinda wanted to give him a hug lol
I liked tobeys and Andrew's. Seen em all in theatre. Always thought Garfield's acting was the best which is why I liked him alot. The movies had a great cast.
Actually, Tobey acted exactly like what I expected. He’s 20 years in as Spider-Man. As for Andrew , he made sense. He’s after the regain confidence and motivation. I respectfully disagree with that take but I get it.
Never known audiences to clap in the UK and it happened 3 times in this film. It was an amazing experience. And Willam Defao absolutely killed it as Green Goblin in this film, he was incredible!
Yeah endgame was good and received a lot of cheers but this movie hit different for me. I literally grew up with the Spider-Man films especially Tobeys so seeing both of them return was like witnessing my entire childhood come back to me. My theatre erupted into chaos and I didn’t even hold back. It was beautiful
Same. I grew up on the Raimi trilogy, in fact the last Spider-man movie I actually caught in a theater was Spider-Man 3. I did not expect the emotions I felt watching this movie.
The whole point of Tom Holland's Spider-Man calling the shots was because he was the only one with any experience working as a TEAM, that was clearly stated in the film when he mentioned the Avengers...
Was thinking one of the other Spider-Men should have mentioned trying to join the Fantastic Four, but they already had four. Then have the other talking about the X-Men going to space but didn't want him along, 'cause he wasn't a mutant. I know they weren't in their respective movies, but it would have been cool.
"People don't change that much." - Yes, they do. I am not the same person as I was when I saw Andrew, nor am I close to the person I was when I watched Tobey's Spider-man. To want them to be the same as the villains that died in their moments is ridiculous, and not at all how people work.
I know!!! Like literally I get "memories" from my post a couple years ago and I cringe haha I think a whole lot different, also I think is kinda dumb to wait for someone to be the same as when they were a teenager and 20 years later...like don't we hope people to grow up and mature?
The crowd in my theater gave the biggest applause to Matt Murdock and the reveal of Tobey and Andrew, but it also gave the biggest aww when Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man caught MJ. Definitely gave you the feels and just made the experience much more exciting.
@@anupamtiwari5587 Id argue he still felt pretty similar. I don't know if it's nostalgic blinding or something but man some moments in the original triolgy are unbelievably awkward. Oh boyyy yeahh comes to mind and I think he acted very similar to that but maybe I'm crazy
*"I stopped pulling my punches, I got bitter. I don't want that to happen to you"* Bring back the cast, bring back Marc Webb and give that man full creative control to tell us how Spidey dealt with his grief. I wanna see him meet MJ and start to hope again in the TASM universe.
I read Andrew as someone who was and has been hurting for a long time, as well as being isolated and alone...suddenly thrust into an incredible situation with other versions of himself who can relate and also stimulate his scientific curiosity. He's like someone who has been locked in during covid who suddenly got thrust into a party with the closest thing to brothers this orphan will ever have.
I mean it has been 20 years since Tobey first put on the suit and he’s more behind the scenes of movies now. Im just happy he agreed to do this again. I thought Andrew hasn’t missed a beat as Peter Parker. Of course not everything is how we want it but we have to remember that a lot was different when they were filming their Spider-Man movies as well as the fact that of course they’re going to be portrayed differently in a different universe even if subtle. I think if we expect them to be exactly how we remember them then we’ll be disappointed. People change and characters change, if I want vintage Spider-Man 2 Tobey then I’ll go watch Spider-Man 2. I’m just glad they didn’t completely change a beloved character like they did with Luke Skywalker, I’ll take what we got gladly cause they actually did each character justice
Grace, what did you think of Willem Defoe?!? I thought his performance was incredible as Goblin and seemed a lot more scarier and threatening this time around (he really is #1 enemy!) and the psychological trauma he was going through was amazing! The violence between Defoe and Holland in the apartment scene and at the end were probably my favourite moments
This scene gave me so much excitement for a dark and gritty film. Then them shoehorning in may being his uncle Ben moment and 2 minutes later non stop jokes was the turning point of the film where it lost me.
Dafoe is such an immense actor capable of playing a variety of roles so allowing him to go full on theatrical over the top bad guy and this time NOT HIDING HIS FACE (he all ready looks like a goblin 😂) allowed you to get the full scope of what he’s able to do
I once saw willem dafoe walking jn soho and letting people pass by in a tight corner all the while smiling. He seems like a nice guy in person. Not like he is in the goblin of course
@@jordanpeakofficial Defoe nailed it! He got both the Goblin and Norman's timid personality down to the letter. And this is ultimately why Spiderman has mercy on the Goblin in the Comics on many occasions he knows Norman is trapped in his own mind battling Alternative personality disorder. There is a moment in this Movie where Peter's Spider sense goes 5 alarm crazy, and it is the Goblin who triggers it. So many classic scenes ripped right off the comic page in this film!
12:15 "I just figured you'd be black." Tore the house down! Whole theater went nuts because (1) shout out to Miles Morales and (2) Garfield was by far the most suave, cool, and stylish of the trio. He deserved every complement he got considering he's the only Spidey with only two movies and a dead girlfriend to boot.
How is it you haven't talked 'at all' about the Dr. Strange fight scene? That was such a cool sequence. I loved that. And Benedict Cumberbatch was great as always!
This was an “everyone is here” moment and then some. I am absolutely astonished !! Spider-Man, like many people, shaped my childhood and has made me the young adult I am today. Seeing all 3 come together, who I adore each in their own way, is just simply beautiful. Excelsior!
Holland really felt like spider-man for the first time in this film and the ending was perfect. The fact the entire film revolved around peter's unselfishness was very peter parker-esc (so i dont get your comments on him being selfish tbh)
You see, in Germany (at least from my personal experience) even in the big theatres you rarely get a huge audience reaction. Like, anything more than laughs at jokes. But I've never (even in the OV) experienced a theatre audience CHEER until this movie. The three most memorable moments when the audience broke out in rapturous applause, was when Andrew showed up, when Tobey showed up and WHEN WANDA WAS SHOWN IN THE TEASER! It was incredible. It's logical they'd cheer for the Spider-Men, but it positively surprised me, how they applauded Wanda
One of the things I was most concerned about going into the film was that Tom would be outshined by the returning villains and Spider-Men. But Tom did such an amazing job as both Peter and Spider-Man, that I’d go so far as to say this was his best performance as the character yet. Can’t wait to see him in the next trilogy with the more serious and classic Spider-Man tone.
I haven't seen any talk about how Tom's spidey sense was visualized when he was in his Astral form. Such a subtle add on but it was soooooo cool to literally see the spidey sense tingling.
I also wanna say I loved the aggression Tom Holland Spider-Man used against goblin before Tobey jumped in and would 100% like to see more of that side of him in the future films
My heart stopped when I saw Charlie Cox in the big screen as Matt Murdock and as you said he acted exactly as he did in his Netflix show. This whole movie brought a lot of intense emotions!
In the origin story of Spiderman he lets the villian get away which results in the loss of his uncle. In this version he tries to save the villians and it results in the loss of his Aunt.
It just goes to show how absolutely badass Netflix's Daredevil show is. The other defenders meandered a bit in their seasons, but Charlie Cox as Daredevil was always, always firing on all cilinders. I don't know how the raw brutality of that show could mesh with the sanitized MCU.
I loved the film. But I was a bit disappointed that Tobey didn’t really have dialogue scene with Green Goblin as he did with Doc Ock and Sandman. Willem Dafoe and Tobey Maguire mustn’t have filmed in person together because that stabbing scene was all so awkwardly shot.
@@EuphoricWizard yeh I thought Sandman was going to tell Norman about the death of his son. Then Norman would’ve been even more mad. But it was only Tobey who mentioned Harry’s death in one scene and that was it.
What i loved most about NWH, is the fact that they got the emotions right. Its never been JUST about crazy action. Its about the heart of peter parker, his struggles to do the right thing. And this movie was ALL about that. It finally gave the MCU peter parker some actual gravitas. I loved it.
Seeing Tobey on the big screen took me back 20 years. It was wild seeing him swing around again and a weird type of nostalgia I haven’t really felt before. I think I know what it’s like to get old now lol
When Andrew caught Zendaya, I loved it because I can only imagine his Peter Parker (while mourning Gwen’s death for seasons during Amazing Spider-Man 2) had replayed that moment over & over again in his head- trying to figure out what he could’ve done differently to save Gwen. I wanted that bad for him, it was well deserved, and great character development.
As I was watching the movie I realized how amazing it must be for those who had no idea Tobey, Andrew and Matt Murdock were in it. I will definitely try to avoid leaks/rumors/spoilers for Dr Strange 2 moving forward! Knowing so much in advance definitely made No Way Home less enjoyable for me (still had a lot of fun of course)
The leaks surrounding this movie were next level, it was crazy, and after the level of secrecy surrounding Infinity War and Endgame, it’s kind mind boggling how so much managed to get out. I can only imagine how amazing it could have been if we had no idea about any of it, even that the villains were coming back. It would have been mind blowing.
Oh my god i cannot agree more with you.. Knowing so much about the movie dulled my experience so much i can't explain it. This should have been kept tight like endgame and i would have enjoyed it alot more.
The leaks and spoiler are very crazy. People really should avoid social media before watching the movie if the context or the spoiler is this BIG.. i'm not ruined by the leaks and spoiler cause i didnt see it, but seeing everyone just posted spoilers 1 day after the movie premiers just annoys me so much
It was really an emotional and thrilling moment to see Tobey and Andrew again, but It shouldn't be the end for them. Well, at least not for Andrew. I get it if they end Tobey's arc here and I'm happy with that. But Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man still has potential to be as Amazing as ever. I mean, I love Tobey's Spider-Man. He's my favourite. But Andrew is the best out of three in this film. He clearly has the best moments from the film. And he certainly having so much fun with the character. Also the funniest. We know sony has their own Spider-Man Universe with Venom, Morbius and upcoming Kraven. They need a Spider-Man. Andrew is the perfect choice for that. He got his Second chance with No Way Home and Everyone Loves him. He loves the character and I'm sure he'll be back if he's asked.
I would have no issue with Andrew being in the Venom and Morbius movies. Andrew gets crapped on the most of the 3 Spidey guys. Tobey is revered and treated as a legend. Tom is the current new young toy. And Andrew, well he's more forgotten and hated. So it would be pleasing to see Andrew in those Sony movies.
@@John-ct9zs I don’t understand the hate Andrews Spidey gets. Sure ASM2 wasn’t all that great, but there were some great things in it, and ASM1 was a great Spidey movie for its own merits. All three bring something great to their respective roles, and we should be glad that we’ve never really had shitty spider men taking up the task.
I was so happy Andrew is back, hopefully Sony do TASM3 in the future and then flesh out the Spiderverse like marvel studios did with the MCU. That end fight was fantastic seeing all 3 interacting and working as a team.
I am currently working from home and so was by myself when I went to see this in theatres. By god I have never screamed, cheered, wooood so profusely with strangers ever before! the claps, the happy surprises, the cheers and to end it all a standing ovation! I have felt this only twice before, Endgame and The Dark Knight Rises. Sure the movie has some shortcomings, I wouldn't call them problems considering how big of a venture this was in a pandemic, to say the least, the crunch time by the VFX teams, the hype and just the aura around it. I loved it to the core! My childhood self could never have imagined this feeling and this movie made it a reality. I am just so happy for everyone involved cause they have done an amazing job!
Toby was older in this movie. As Doc said "You're all grown up." He was married and found peace. Andrew from what he said just found his place recently after Gwen's death. So that could work for why they're not the same as they were.
From my point of view I think it didn't bring him closure, I still the pain was there and I wished this MJ and Andrew Spiderman had a moment about it. Tbh I would have loved to see the other green goblin fly through and it be the Spidermen vs the green goblins and give Andrew his closure and Tobey to be a teacher.
@@its_havokk6782 yeah the pain would always be there but it will no longer hurt as much as before..the saving of MJ would serve as a balm to ease that pain..I also wish they had more time to talk about it but then again, there's so much one can do even in a two hour plus movie.. I'm just glad the movie was made..some would call it fan service galore but it worked and I enjoyed every bit of it...
It’s sad that I haven’t seen no one talk about the scene after Aunt Mae died, and the Spider men went with MJ and Ned to speak with Tom on loss and how they are alike (but suffer different tragedies). You can hear pain and suffering they endured, but they knew in their heart that light is greater than darkness and great power comes great responsibility. I feel that is the most powerful scene in the movie.
@@manthemanmantheman6611 I never mentioned about being sad about her death. I mentioned the roof scene and all the spider men talking about pain and loss. Learn to read and understand.
So I guess Strange's spell only makes everyone forget Peter but won't change the actions of before. It's why Happy can still know May but not Peter. The only amnesia is towards Peter.
When May grabbed the pipe ready to fight Goblin and protect Peter even though she knew it wouldn’t do much my heart was POUNDING. THE BEST MAY IN MY OPINION!!!
I agree with Tobey not feeling like his version of Peter one bit. Very different. But Andrew totally understood the assignment here. He felt exactly like how did when I watched TASM in theatres.
One could argue that the reason he is so jaded is because the events of Spider-Man 3 and the symbiote and Harry’s death really made him spiral out of control
This was an older Tobey. At this point he had been Spidey for a few decades. Doc Oct even told him he was all grown up. This was a much more mature grown Spiderman. Almost like a father figure
@@benm6847 Shang chi is a better made movie than this lol, this movie is eye candy it’s nostalgic, it’s not visually striking as the amazing Spider-Man 2, most villains in this movie just felt like they were there just to be there, it felt like a parody film until the last half of the movie
Honestly Grace, whenever I think of this movie, I always start with the Daredevil cameo. I know it sounds silly, but that was the best part of the whole movie to me... particularly when he caught the brick. I'm seldom audible in theaters (I come from an old-school generation that still thinks libraries and theaters are not social clubs), but that scene almost made me come out of my seat.
It was a great moment, i was kind of stunned they didnt film it a little bit more like how it happened with gwen, like slow it down a tad and maybe a little flashback haha still badass tho
as someone who’s been a spider man fan since 2001: i don’t think you’re right abt the way tobey and andrew were handled here. i was so happy to see them again not just bc it was them, but bc it felt like they were BACK. i don’t agree that they didn’t recapture the energy at all.
Yeah...I noticed that too. She is saying pretty harsh things and very casually...I don't think she liked the movie at all. Felt a very biased review...
Better nostalgia movie than _Force Awakens,_ but missed a couple steps. "Fridging" is just bad writing. Still, best movie of the year unless something else surprises.
Honestly Tobey Maguire seemed like Tobey Maguire that attacks the paparazzi. Unfortunately he did not feel the same as the Peter Parker he once played. It almost seemed like he didn't want to be there. But as for Andrew Garfield I think he nailed it he look like he had a blast coming back as Spider-Man!
@@ariyansingh3108 I honestly think that he was closer to the character he played in Brothers it's almost as if that character was trying to portray Spider-Man.

I think Tobey portrayed spiderman just right. He is older and has more experience with life in general. Life is fucken hard and it tests your will and punches you down at every corner. Just as real life, Tobey spiderman went through alot more than the new bright eyed inexperience Andrew garfied or the naivete of Tom hollands spiderman. Tobey relied mostly on his will, determination and strength to save people. Tom and Andrew relied alot more on the new technologies and friendships. In my opinion, Tobey spiderman is more wholesome and humanlike qualities as he embodies a matured spiderman that went through shit and understands that the world isn't always sunshine and roses.
When Andrew Garfield’s Peter was giving his speech to Tom Holland’s, where he talked about how he became bitter and wasn’t pulling his punches, he meant in regards to how he felt after Ben’s death and also after Gwen’s. But he’s still had time to get past that, as I remember him saying in the movie as well. So, Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman we see in No Way Home is now a better adjusted, and more balanced one. Both Andrew and Tobey were giving their examples of grief, to try and prevent Tom’s Peter from going down that same dark path, when he said he wanted to kill Green Goblin him self. I LOVED Andrew in No Way Home, more than ever, to tell ya’ll the truth!
When Andrew showed up the entire cinema theatre exploded in applause and joy. Never since the the original Avenger, never have I felt the “Marvel marvel” … I’m hyped for phase 4 again … goddamn
I saw it twice yesterday at different cinemas due to my son not getting the "I'm booking the tickets" memo, we still cheered Andrew Garfield's reveal the second time. My eldest daughter also pointed out that we all got our Spiderman, I'd taken her to see 1-3 with Tobey McGuire and I'd taken my twins to see both of Andrew Garfield's Spiderman outings.
I think Willem dafoe's green goblin was easily the best villian in MCU... along with thanos and killmonger...🥳. The performance was amazing , unhinged and terrifying
That's not saying much. In _Unbreakable_ he says the true archenemy defeats the hero with his mind. Don't think we've seen that yet. Could have been with Obadiah Stane, but in the comics he suits up and gets himself killed. Egghead vs Henry Pym?
The only thing that disappointed me greatly was the usage of Danny Elfman’s music. Giacchino’s score alone was great but I think they could have done something a little more epic with Tobey’s theme.
Honestly, both Tobey and Andrews scores weren’t utilized to their fullest extents IMO. To me Tobey’s theme is the most iconic of the bunch, and Andrews ASM1 theme was inspiring as well. I understand they probably didn’t want to overwhelm Tom’s movie with the scores of the other Spider Man’s, but theirs are by far the best of the bunch, and if we see them again in DS2, or something else in the future I hope the themes are used better.
@@mutalemwananshiku4098 I feel like giachinnos scores suffer from same MCU syndrome a lot of the other MCU scores do. They just don't stand out as much from one another, and they all tend to sound very similar. The only themes I could think of that standout as compared to the rest of the MCU is the Avengers, Captain America, and Captain America Falcon themes.
It was so nice to see Tobey Maguire returning as Spiderman and the fighting sequence between Tom Holland Spiderman vs Green Goblin was so brutal and well choreograph.
I've been wanting Maguire to reprise the Spidey role since 2007. It was just treat seeing him and Garfield return. And seeing all three Spideys working together against all those villains from different universe was like big thick icing on the cake. Well done, movie, well done.
If you watch the end credits of venom, venom tells Eddie that he shares a hive mind. So he shares the knowledge of all venoms across different universes. So he knows that Tobey’s spiderman is Peter Parker. Also Tom Holland’s spiderman being #1 has more to do with his experience on working with a team(avengers) compared to the other spidermen. It’s also his universe and he knows about the magic being used. I think Andrew Garfield stated he stopped pulling his punches as in past tense. Don’t think he is still doing this 10 or so years later
Yeah I thought the Venom reference was hinting at the whole hive knowledge idea. Same thing for Andrew, cause he seemed remorseful for what he apparently had done
Seeing Tobey come back as spider man had me rewatching all of he's spider man movies William Dafoe as Green goblin bringing him back Tom Holland is perfect as spider man as well
Couldn’t believe the reactions in my audience last night! The deafening screams for Andrew Garfield, the claps for Charlie Cox, the cheers for Miles Morales mention, the sobbing at the end of the film 🤯

I have a doubt, the first time tony meet peter, he said " i do this, because, some one told me, with great powers comes a great responsibility" but this movie make you feel he never heard it before, so wtf?
I didn't see MJ's band-aid until Peter looked at it and decided telling her would hurt her. Maybe it should have been her choice, or they can meet up in future. He's going to need some friends.
My 6 year old son cheered so hard when Andrew Garfield and Toby McGuire showed up and he wasn't even born when those movies came out. I think part of it was because everyone else was clapping and cheering and part of it was because he was so happy to get 3 SPIDER MEN IN ONE MOVIE!
I kinda felt like Tom didn’t have an Uncle Ben, he had no reaction when Andrew and Tobey were talking about him, and May filled the Ben role in this movie. Like May was Peter’s Dad’s sister.
Redemption. Loved the interaction between the three Spideys. I feel sad for Holland's Spidey. All alone now. But it is a great responsibility.
@@klass_1221 Its but its perfect for Tom’s spidey as this movie fixed all the complaints abt mcu spidey
Andrew Garfield's expression when realizing he was able to save MJ actually made me cry, it was very powerful!
tom holland is the best part about this movie his character development is insane
Yes well said, it was very nostalgic and sad. The interraction between Andrew spidey and zendaya MJ is amazing in that scene
I felt the same.
Exactly. They weren't pulled right after their movies ended. Their stories continued on past that point. Tobey's Peter was older and wiser, while Andrew's went through a really bad place and is recovering. They still reminded me a little of their old selves, but has changed somewhat due to their experiences.
Exactly!!!
This!
Yeah I disagree with Grace that he didn’t feel like the same character. I thought Andrew did great bringing back Spidey
They really should bring Andrew back as spiderman in the Venom universe, he is a better actor compared to Holland, who isn’t a bad actor.
@@roberttrevino62800 same. I think grace missed the mark there. Andrews energy felt exactly like the same , if not even better, than when we last saw him in TASM
Aunt Mae death sequence did it for me. I got emotional ASF when she got hit with the glider. I knew from that moment she was dying.
Andrew to me is the best live action spiderman, his swinging, agility, web shooting,, and free falling shots are the best
That’s also my favorite part, for this reason
When Dr. Strange got teary eyed because he actually cares for Peter really hit me.
Same here.
I've always been more a fan of the classic Spidey so I was a bit critical of the MCU Spidey. But this ending really does reset things. Even the costume he wore at the end was classic Spider Man.
Sounds like for the new spell Peter Parker is a non-entity.
Slight correction, Blade paved the way. Spidey had better sequels
Yeah that was a great moment.
Yes this part was awesome. Still a bigger fan of Tobey but it was a touching moment
This!
Tobey's spidey has had a team up in spiderman 3 with harry(new goblin) brief though, Yes! nonetheless a team up all the same anyway
Yeah Love Grace but the explanations for some of her concerns were right there in the movie. This being one of them. Another is Venom did know who Spider-Man was because they are multi-verse beings
Yes thank you!
“Wow the avengers, whats that?”
“Are the avengers a band? Are you in a band”
Willem Dafoe was honestly one of the standouts to me. I thought his performance in this movie was even better than the first movie. And his fight scene with Peter in Happy’s apartment was perfect.
his performance was amazing and stole the show from me but his performance still wasn't as good as in Spiderman 1
that just tells you how good the og spiderman movie was written
I agree, this movie showed just how ill Norman was in the head, you could see him shift back and forth between the two personalities in his facial movements. What a great performance!
Why was green goblin that strong?
Does he get super strength when he turns into Goblin?
Marissa Tomei’s acting in THAT scene was incredible. I never felt attached to her character in this trilogy but her acting in THAT scene made me feel strong emotions.
Yeah especially at the "with great power comes great responsibility line" man that hit me hard.
Same. I always felt like she's miscast as Aunt May and generally just there as eye candy and potential romance partner of Tony or Happy. Her final scene and moments definitely elevated her character beyond my expectations to the point that I actually like her.
Well she is an Oscar winning actress..She’s got the acting chops to pull it off.
I felt so bad for Happy too. He really liked her.
I knew the line was coming up and it gave me some super chills. She nailed it !!!
I mean that’ was fairly obvious
I’ve not even seen the second film of Garfield’s. I only saw the first one once. 🤷🏻♀️
He was easily the best actor of the three Spiderman
When they showed MJ fall in the previews, pretty much everyone guessed what would happen. Wish I'd blacked-out after the first trailer. Going to do that for Doctor Strange 2.
saaame lol it was the hardest i cried in the movie
Tom Holland is the actor of his generation but come on... Andrew Garfield was nominated for Hacksaw Ridge and honestly should have been nominated for Best Supporting for The Social Network. I LOVE Tom Holland. but Andrew Garfield is a legendary talent.
I literally wanted to cry like six times. The scores of all three spideys, seeing Tobey McGuire for the first time in 14 years. This movie got so many reactions in my theater that it reminded me of pre-pandemic times during Endgame. This movie is easily 10/10.
Yes I actually wishe we still wore masks cus I was crying my whole face off
Wanted to?! This old man was crying big tears.
@Tim C ?
I was nervous when I found they went from selling 35 tickets to fill 60 seats, but it was fun to hear the laughter, cheering and clapping.
Well said!
Yeah so many lil nuances that makes this such a good movie....
Doc Oc said that line in no way home in the apartment scene? I missed that part I guess
110%
My only regret is they could have added just a quick scene of Toby back in his universe with Kirsten Dunst’s MJ and Rosemarie Harris’ Aunt May back. Would have been the cherry on top but overall a solid film.
Electro got pulled in because he heard Gwen calling Spiderman by his real name, although he never knew how he looked.
Venom was pulled in because Venom tells in the post credits from the Carnage movie that it has the knowledge of all the symbiotes throughout the multiverse, hinting at Topher Grace's memory.
Venom end credit scene didn't make sense to me.

It would have made more sense and make me want to watch Venom 2, if the end credit scene is a fight with a version of Spider-Man, and/or San Francisco-based Spider-Woman and just as Venom is about to die he's transported to the MCU.
Mysterio was the sixth member. This entire movie's plot is driven by his actions. He's there, but he isn't. Quite the illusion.
That's a really nice argument.

Exactly, I loved it
Good point
Like the part when Andrew stared at Tom and Mj talking and Tobey noticed Andrew's sadness. And Andrew shoved it off with humor. I felt that.
He and Tobey were great and yea definitely good take on Andrew
Never in a million years would I have predicted that Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker would be the best character in this movie
He's always been my favorite and feel this movie confirmed why
He is a better actor compared to Holland and Tobey
Him and Willem Dafoe are for sure the show stealers in this film!
@@estudos6156 how many times u gonna say the same damn thing
This just proves that Andrew Garfield would have brought something incredible to Peter Parker had his movies been allowed to continue. The redemption/closure he received from saving MJ was so incredibly satisfying and it’s the main thing that really stayed with me after the movie was over. I really hope we’ll get to see him again.
Same here, that scene legit packed an emotional punch I did not expect and stuck with me after the movie ended.
Completely agree. It was the second chance that his Peter park needed and was my favorite single moment of the film
I disagree about Garfield, but he redeemed himself in this movie

Thought Tobey was going to show a wedding ring at one of those key points.
Facts!
And I'm sure Tobey isn't the same person anyways.
He was amazing but it doesn't matter, they just send him right back
Tobey and Andrew looked SO happy to be back. It makes me so happy for them.
When Andrew said “I always wanted to have brothers” 😢
Tobey not so much, but Andrew was having the time of his life.
@@StottOnTheDot i can see that....he was going all out on the acting...
@@StottOnTheDot he was happy

12:15 "I just figured you'd be black." Tore the house down! Whole theater went nuts because (1) shout out to Miles Morales and (2) Garfield was by far the most suave, cool, and stylish of the trio. He deserved every complement he got considering he's the only Spidey with only two movies and a dead girlfriend to boot.
Garfield is the best actor that ever played spider man
How is it you haven't talked 'at all' about the Dr.
Excelsior!
Andrew catching mj was my favourite part of the whole film, acted out so well and bought the heartbreak nostalgia with it
Holland really felt like spider-man for the first time in this film and the ending was perfect. The fact the entire film revolved around peter's unselfishness was very peter parker-esc (so i dont get your comments on him being selfish tbh)
No lgbtqs in the movie.
@@KingKongStrong i dont know man electro seemed pretty gay for andrew in that film
I agree entirely. Andrew made me regret never finishing Amazing Spider-Man 2 aswell, he was great in this role.
I completely agree. That was my biggest knock on hollands spidey. This movie actually made me feel like he was Spider-Man now.
Yuuup he was doing everything to fix his friends lives not his own
You see, in Germany (at least from my personal experience) even in the big theatres you rarely get a huge audience reaction.
Same here in Belgium
Same here in London.
same in Croatia, but we also clapped when the theater managed to turn the lights off 10 minutes into the movie
Exactly the same here in Indonesia
Same here in Dubai
He was brilliant and honestly took my by surprise
post credit scene spoiler**
we'll most definitely see more of that side once the symbiote bonds with him... SO EXCITING!!
@@kilianvalentine can’t wait next trilogy gonna be sick with symbiote and possibly hobgoblin and miles

The audience I saw it with went CRAZY when Andrew Garfield showed up!!! I was quite suprised.
Everyone was hype, and people never cheer here
Same in my theater! They were screaming for Andrew and casually applauding for Tobey. Threw me for a loop!
Laughs upon making him crawl across the ceiling and clean the cobwebs.
My heart stopped when I saw Charlie Cox in the big screen as Matt Murdock and as you said he acted exactly as he did in his Netflix show. This whole movie brought a lot of intense emotions!
That was when I shouted out uncontrollably "YES!!" then I was embarrassed
In the origin story of Spiderman he lets the villian get away which results in the loss of his uncle. In this version he tries to save the villians and it results in the loss of his Aunt.
The famous saying of "With great power comes great responsibility." got really muddled because of that.
I thought Ned was really good in this movie.. he was 3rd wheeling but not too much and wasn’t disregarded for help. A real best friend type of guy…
The roar when Matt Murdoch appeared; let alone the roars throughout my London screening last night was insane. Event cinema is what this was & is!
Yeh loved it when Matt caught that brick and Peter is like wtf!?
Yeah got the same feeling too
Feel like he didn't fully need one,him Saving Goby was, in my opinion, more than enough to convey a lot whitout actually having to speak
yeah that's too bad
they haven't worked together in years so i really wish they were able to film together again and talk a bit ;-;)
Yea it really would've been nice if they had dialogu.tobey starts apolozing about Harry and Norman asks "what about harry"
I loved it.
People wanted Sinister Six, but I didn't feel like this Spider-Man had the hate and vengeance feelings by his rogue's gallery to make that work.
People really should avoid social media before watching the movie if the context or the spoiler is this BIG.. i'm not ruined by the leaks and spoiler cause i didnt see it, but seeing everyone just posted spoilers 1 day after the movie premiers just annoys me so much
I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME YES
You had no clue lol all over internet for months.
Maybe the reverse spell sent him into the Sony Verse??? They could explain that with a brief scene in Multiverse of Madness ??
@@John-ct9zs I don’t understand the hate Andrews Spidey gets. Sure ASM2 wasn’t all that great, but there were some great things in it, and ASM1 was a great Spidey movie for its own merits. All three bring something great to their respective roles, and we should be glad that we’ve never really had shitty spider men taking up the task.
Yeah that was my thought coming out of the movie too. I just miss Andrew as SpiderMan so much I just need him in 1 more movie. Pleeeaaaassee.
As Doc said "You're all grown up."
He was married and found peace.
Andrew from what he said just found his place recently after Gwen's death. So that could work for why they're not the same as they were.
Saving MJ brought Garfield some form of closure and it melted my heart seeing Maguire talking with Molina....

I know Tobey was basically a parody of himself in this movie but I still loved it. It was like seeing an old friend after years
I wouldn't use the word parody, but maybe laughs at his expense. Kind of like the SNL skit where Hawkeye runs out of arrows.
Seeing the Trio together and hugging each other brought tears to my eyes.
Couldn’t agree more
This was an older Tobey. At this point he had been Spidey for a few decades. Doc Oct even told him he was all grown up. This was a much more mature grown Spiderman. Almost like a father figure
Tobey should have shown either a wedding ring or an engagement ring he hadn't given yet.
i personally think you're off the mark here, grace. this was by far the best phase four project so far, and i loved every minute of it
Not saying much when the only other project is eternals

@@benm6847 Shang chi is a better made movie than this lol, this movie is eye candy it’s nostalgic, it’s not visually striking as the amazing Spider-Man 2, most villains in this movie just felt like they were there just to be there, it felt like a parody film until the last half of the movie
Azeez Davis i actually respectfully disagree with that, i agree with grace’s comment that there are so many beautifully composed shots and sequences
@@azeezibnnaim I agree with you alot.
I love how Tobey is arched like the 90’s animated series logo during the Statue of Liberty scene.🗽
That was most fun I’ve ever had as a moviegoer. The community I felt with my audience was unmatched. So much freaking fun.
Andrew Garfield saving MCU MJ was a really good moment for me....glad to see him get that redemption. He really sold the moment for me.
I tear jerked when Drew saved MJ... Best moment of the movie, hands down. Finally an emotional moment not ruined with jokes
I think you’re spot on. 🕸🕷
you’ve criticized this masterpiece more than Wonder Woman 1984
Understandable tbh but I think tobey has the justification of being older so he'd seem a bit more wooden and not bright eyed as he used to be.
@@ariyansingh3108 I honestly think that he was closer to the character he played in Brothers it's almost as if that character was trying to portray Spider-Man.
Well you can’t expect him to be exactly like Peter Parker from the raimi films because almost 20 years have past since then, for both the actor and character. Things change my guy.
@@vanegpink05 it ain't their fault he ain't done nothing with his career since Spider-Man.. the script was enough to bring him back for the fourth Spider-Man movie he never got and the third Spider-Man movie that Andrew never acquired because he got greedy. It is Tom Hollands movie and it should focus around him you was just expecting more..
I LOVED Andrew in No Way Home, more than ever, to tell ya’ll the truth!
yeah if you rewatch Amazing spider man, his intial actions are NOT that of a hero. but some bitter and looking for revenge
best line in the movie "I'm something of a scientist myself"
Grace 😂😂😂 I love you sis 😂😂😂 I laughed HEAVILY as well when Happy said he was the guy made out of mud. Hilarious

May's death made me cry honestly, Marissa and Tom's acting was amazing in that scene
Drop that knowledge bomb, that's what I'm saying^
Yeah I thought the Venom reference was hinting at the whole hive knowledge idea. Same thing for Andrew, cause he seemed remorseful for what he apparently had done
Seeing Tobey come back as spider man had me rewatching all of he's spider man movies
William Dafoe as Green goblin bringing him back
Tom Holland is perfect as spider man as well
Couldn’t believe the reactions in my audience last night!
Someone said the line was originally narration.
For some reason him being on his own at the end hit me harder then the aunt may death , it was sad as hell seeing his friends just clueless to him
I didn't see MJ's band-aid until Peter looked at it and decided telling her would hurt her.
Completely disagree on Andrew. Thought he was brilliant throughout. You could tell Toby has not been acting in films for a while though...
I kinda felt like Tom didn’t have an Uncle Ben, he had no reaction when Andrew and Tobey were talking about him, and May filled the Ben role in this movie. Like May was Peter’s Dad’s sister.
He definitely did have an uncle Ben. Remember the suit case reference in FFH?
