    Everyone hopes to have some Irish in them. Anyone who has traveled to Ireland simply can't deny the fact that the people there are some of the kindest in the world. On top of that, you'll find an immense amount of interesting history and endless beauty around every bend. After 10 incredible days in Ireland, I have put together my second travel film ( • Our Honeymoon in Irela... ) and some tips from my first visit. My wife and I explored Dublin, Galway, Dingle, Killarney National Park, and much in-between. We stayed in a castle, road horses, learned about falconry, stopped by the Guinness Storehouse, saw the Book of Kells at Trinity College, drove the Dingle Peninsula, and hiked the Cliffs of Moher and the Gap of Dunloe. Keep in mind these tips are based on my personal itinerary so be sure to add your own advice in the comments below. Happy trails!
    P.S. I apologize for pronouncing Galway wrong. I would correct it, but RUclips does not allow changes. I'll keep learning from my mistakes. From now on I promise to say "Gawl-way."

    Great video. As an Irish person you hit ever thing perfectly. Although, I have admit it’s funny when Americans say Galway with a super American accent yet get more complexed place names spot on. It’s said like Gol-way, don’t stretch the “a” sound.

    +1 for using Shannon Airport. You won't believe the difference between that and Dublin. So much easier, quieter, friendlier and faster and you can almost drive in to the check-in desk !! Not as wide a range in the Duty Free but that's a small price to pay for the convenience. On the other hand, as a bonus, you do get to shop at the worlds very first Duty Free shop !!! And you're closer to Cork ;-)

      SHANNON IS AWESOME WE LOVE IT THERE, SADLY THEY GET SHUNNED SO MUCH FOR ALL ROADS LEAD TO DUBLIN IN IRELAND. BUT WORTH THE WEE BIT MORE. NEAR BUNRATTY CASTLE AND FOLK PARK AND ALSO DURTY NELLYS AND THE BUNRATTY MANOR RUN BY NIALL AND FIONA, GREAT COOKS AND HOST. WE LOVED IT THERE WHEN WE STAYED MANY TIMES. XXX

      @@dennisyates7668 A small note - Durty Nellie’s is for the tourists only; go to Mac’s in the folk park for the locals. Yup, you heard me - “the tourists go to the real pub, but the real people go to the fake pub in the theme park” (McCarthy’s Bar, published 2000)

    Thank you for the open minded and respectful way that you and your wife approached Ireland and its people and animals. I appreciate that and agree with your tips especially your advice Not to Drive at Night. People drive too fast here especially at night on narrow roads if you are off motorway. Also you reflected our native cuisine and fresh foods very fairly. Irish food is generally among the best in the world. Glad you enjoyed my country - do the wild atlantic way and the Ancient East trail when you come back.Dublin Horse Show; Kilkenny Arts week; Kinsale Food festival are some of the pleasant but expensive events to enjoy.

      Do you have a recommendation for how to best travel around? Car rental, train, etc.? :)

    • @classactsexpertiseandinspi4815
      @classactsexpertiseandinspi4815 3 года назад +3

      @@kristiesussman1668 It depends on how competent you are as a driver and where you want to go... driving on our secondary routes can be v scenic but demanding as Irish drivers drive fast and take no prisoners. Motorways are fine but with few service stations. Overall the Nationwide bus network known as Expressway might offer you the best mix of accessibility, scenery and economy. Trains are good for longest journeys but more expensive. Hope this helps.

      Good suggestion! Thank you for mentioning that because it's important to advise others on more affordable options than where we stayed. For the honeymoon, we were very fortunate to stay where we did, but that was an exception to the norm for us. Next time I will be trying to sleep outside in a tent as much as possible. Camping is my favorite, and very inexpensive.

    If at Slea Head also visit Cuiminole Beach - it's awesome. When we were kids, in the 60s/early 70s, we used to call it the "Big Wave Seaside". We'd spend hours there, paddling, making sand castles, exploring the rock pools and caves, having picnics with ham sandwiches Tayto and tea, the kettle boiled on a primus stove, then relax on a woolen foxford rug laid on the sand and listen to the ocean.

    What a great video. As an Irishman, it filled me with pride. I'm originally from Cork City but have lived in Boca Raton, Florida for 20 years. It was great to see someone truly do justice to my homeland. Unfortunately, now I'm homesick and it's all your fault. I was very impressed with your videography. You a did a brilliant job portraying the beautiful scenery and the many wonderful places to stay. Next time you must visit County Cork, Kinsale and the Bearra Peninsula. There is so much more for you to see.

    Loved your video and thrilled you and your wife had a great visit..honeymoon in our beautiful country. Ireland is magical...well we Irish think so anyway. That cafe on the Dingle peninsula that you worried about mispronouncing..its Coo me nole...that's the pronunciation. Its a place name and has an amazing beach... there is a sign...dangerous for swimming. As you stand on the beach a wave will end a distance away...but beware the next wave will end a distance behind you. Amazing but little scary. It was great to see you went off the roads and hiked. Too many visitors do the set tours...yes you get to see touristy parts but its better to set your on agenda...see the real Ireland. Great advice re safety on cliffs of Moher. There us so much to see and do in our country...South East Cork is stunning too. Book a few days in little village called Ballycotton. Stunning cliff walk..fab food..lovely pubs..Sea Church for gigs..places to swim ( ask locals fir advice before you swim from rocks)..take a guided tour of Ballycotton lighthouse...beautiful village.

    Big Yes for flying into Shannon instead of Dublin.
    So many people are doing day trips from Dublin straight to the Cliffs. They are coming to the west coast, but the bus tours are running from Dublin they are blocking up all the roads with bus while the west gets little or nothing in return just more traffic.

    • @edgeofwest5741
      @edgeofwest5741 4 года назад +1

      The customs and security is another reason to fly to Shannon. Less people you'll get through faster.
      British Airways flys in every day too get quicker customs and security for one of its flights too New York

    Great video, for your next trip i suggest going north into Donegal and northern ireland if you can, some places i would reccomend are the Slieve League Cliffs, Tory Island, Aranmore Island, The Glenveigh nationsl park And Mt. Errigal. You can get easily into Donegal by going to Carrickfinn international airport which was voted one of the most beautiful airports in the world! otherwise from Donegal you NEED to visit some historical caves such as the Marble Arch caves or The Giants Causeway (Both in Northern Ireland) But i seriously enjoyed the video and it's not stereotypical and great advice for people wanting to come here

      You can do it! Millions of people fly every day (except for right now of course) and it is so much more unsafe to be in a car! Learn about why an airplane flies. The more familiar you are with something the more comfortable it becomes.

    Thanks very much for that very informative video. And I agree with a lot of the Irish people commenting on this very well made video, about it: "making them proud to be Irish". We never see ourselves the way that others see us....and that can be a handicap sometimes. As a country we really took the brunt of the financial crash of 2008/9 very hard. We were thrown-under-the-bus by the EU and as a nation we were made to 'take the hit' for the whole of the EU banking sector. That was very hard on most of the people living here, and it took many years of austerity to emerge from it. And at a time like that....it can be quite hard to see what's directly under-your-nose. Like our lovely scenery, our historical castles and monuments, our amazing coastline and our innate 'Irishness' at being quite an outgoing and friendly people.
    So thanks very much to you Brady and to your wife for posting such an 'uplifting' video about your honymoon here in Ireland. Both myself and my wife enjoyed it immensely. All the very best to both of you!

Also Game of Thrones sites in Northern Ireland, Dunluce Castle, Kings road with weird shaped trees, also visit Giants Causeway and Carrick a Rede rope briidge, Stairway to Heaven walk in Cavan also, called Cuilcagh, Croke Patrick in Mayo also

    Top class video which we just stumbled upon. Not too many people have mentioned Wicklow and Wexford, two of the most beautiful and historic counties in Ireland. Glendalough, Glenmalure Avoca in Wicklow and Curracloe, Blackwater and lots of other villages and towns in Wexford and only a couple of hours drive from Dublin. We,re lucky enough to live about 10 miles from Dublin City and pretty much have the best of both worlds on our doorstep. P.S. My wife and I both think your wife is a lovely girl, is it possible to "read" things like that through a video?

I'll keep trying to get better about it.

    Just to add flying into Belfast also there is beautiful scenery an hour from Belfast, the giants causeway, views were game of thrones was filmed etc that can easily be seen on a day trip. Belfast is compact even smaller than Dublin with good history tours. There's is an express train to Dublin multiple times through the day.
    Also there is a small airport in kerry called farranfore that's handy if needed.
    Donegal has its own airport and spectacular west, rural routes.
    Also private own room hostel rooms if you don't mind done shared facilities offer good budget solutions for couples.

    Great video and tips. The US preclearance in Dublin and Shannon is a huge advantage in my opinion, while it might take longer on Irish side, you land at domestic terminal on US soil and no immigration or customs as already done it in Ireland. After a long flight, you can get straight out of the airport :-) Its one of the few countries in the world that has this facility.
