Thank you for all your tips and tricks. I found out a way to store my yarn that I like very much. I devided the balls in different categories, thin cotton, tick cotton, one or 2 balls, etc. I placed them in different Ikea boxes (with lids), and numbered each box. Then I made a list with each number on it , plus what kind of yarn is in it. It was a lot of work, but now when looking for a certain yarn I can find it fast, plus it keeps everything tidy.
I usually roll my yarn in a ball and store the labels in page protectors so when I need them I have access to them. I now have a new way and easier identification to recognize my yarn. Thanks Jayda!
I have bought yarn at yard sales that was rolled into balls. I rewind it with my yarn winders into what looks like Caron Cakes. They are flat in top and bottom so they stay where you put them. They stack too. I also use those round knitting looms to make hats where you need two strands of yarn at the same time and if I want to use the same color, I use the inside strand with the outside strand. Works great.
Another tip: ▪you can cut a strand of your selected yarn and tape it to label. Thus, when you run out of yarn, you can go back to the store and know exactly what color to get.
I love your tips great ideas if I was rolling the way you suggest is to be able to see what color skein is because sometimes we do forget colors when you work with so many different skeins of colors. I love your whimsy way giving tips. This is a thought I would do.
Hi Carol, yes! If you wind up taping your label so that you've covered important information, you can either try and tape it in another direction, or perhaps write that information with a marker on the label for future reference!
Good morning my little ray of sunshine. You really do brighten up any day. Great tip! Thank you. I'm almost finished with my Sunshine project. Can't wait to show you. Have a great day my friend. Lots of love from Laura in England. Xxx
It's now ten to six here and I'm about to snuggle down in front of the fire and finish my Sunshine. It's gale force winds here, so your sunshine will put a smile on my face. I hope you're having a good day my Dear? Xxx
Wow that sounds SO cozy :) I've been working at my desk here all day listening to the winds outside wrestle with the trees and toss the occasional stray flake into my window. I'm happy to be tucked up inside, but I must say, a cozy fire would just finish it off for me! Enjoy your evening :)
Hi Geri! What a great feeling of accomplishment :) That's super! Know you really know what you have and where it all is, the perfect place to be at as we head into the fall!
lol had to chuckle the dog usually runs away with either the ball or the wrapper in my house, so really helpful video. I love your videos and your sense of humour xxx
When my yarn is almost running out, I like to make it into a ball. Then I cut the label/info and pin it to the ball. Because in the past, I’ve lost the yarn labels and that is not good! Good video! 😊
The start and ending was so cute! Thanks to you Jayda for this very useful tip. Unfortunately, I bought my wool a long time ago and therefore thrown the label away. However, next time I purchase wool, I will be sure to keep the label. Could you do a video on expanding your circles? With the sun tutorial, I found that my piece always curled up. I tried crocheting looser like you said but it didn't work. Thanks!
Thanks Panda :) When you say expanding circles, do you mean the basic math behind them? Or crocheting in the round? I have a one tutorial on crocheting in the round (and using a stitch marker if you need it) in order to follow some of my pattern designs. ruclips.net/video/ws6vehJCCh4/видео.html If this links works, check it out :)
I do this all the time it good to do this if you need to get more of that yarn that you're using all you got to do is either cut a piece of that string off or take that wrapping paper off the ball of yarn and take it with you to the store and just look for that particular yarn in the store
Hi, it's surprising... I have knitted a pullover same like yours, beige and openwork. You'd better roll up the yarn with a winder wool, it's better to win place on the shelf. Kiss from France 🙂🙂
Hi Jayda, love your videos, thanks so much for sharing with us. Do you have tips for labeling cakes that have been created on a yarn winder? I bought an inexpensive one recently and LOVE it but keeping the labels for future reference is challenging. Any tips on doing this? Thanks so much!
Hi Jill, that's a great suggestion. I haven't used a yarn winder myself yet, so I'm not terribly sure how the balls come out in relation to their original packaging, but you could safety pin the more pertinent information to the ball if you couldn't use the whole label :)
Jayda InStitches thank you. I see you often use safety pins on yarn so I'll try pinning info or part of the labels to the skeins. (Once tried, the ball winder is invaluable :) Thank you for the great videos!
Love the beanie do u have a video on one with the flaps and string hanging I've always wanted to learn how to make one I'm a beginner crocheter thank u so much for your guys hard work and videos I really enjoy all of them makes me so happy and excited to crochet sending good vibes love and aloha from sunny hot Hawaii 😊
cta637 Helllllloooooooooo Hawaii! Thank you so much for watching :) I will be making more hat videos this fall (when it's a little cooler!...it's pretty hot here right now too!)
I like your new idea making vids on tips! Do you have one for using both ends at the same time with one ball of yarn? Making your hat pattern with a thinner yarn, therefore using two strands :) xo~
HI Sandi! I've never quite gotten the hang of using both ends of an unraveled skein at once, it usually turns into this fabulous mess... But that is a great topic! Double stranding is increasingly popular!
Hi Brittney, if you're making your own labels (or notes) on a ball of yarn, it's helpful to copy down the original label information before you get rid of it (or possibly lose it!) This is where having a project journal comes in handy. You can cut a small length of the yarn and put it in your journal along with the original label information containing the colour (the colour # if there is one), the name of the yarn, the company, the weight, the fiber content and anything else about it that you want to remember :) We have a video on keeping a project journal you might want to check out if you haven't already :) You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/3tRsUVMeSnQ/видео.html
Thank you so much! I appreciate how quick you are at responding to questions! You are a great teacher, I look forward to seeing all the videos you upload! Thanks again, I will check out that video for sure!!!
Hi Jayda, great tips as always. I love all your projects and tips. I really love the hat you wear in the thumbnail nail pics of your tip clips. Did you make it yourself and if so is there a tutorial on it?
Hi there! Yes we do :) We have a written pattern for that sweet little Squid in our Etsy shop :) You can visit our shop here: www.etsy.com/ca/shop/JaydaInStitches Thank you for watching!
Hi Acexkeikai! Yes, I did a tutorial on that! It's call a Crochet Bunny Pin and I've just posted the link to that tutorial in the comment box :) When you have time, check out the video section of our channel (you can get that tab at the top of the Channel home page) and check out our other videos, we've got over 80 and lots of them are super cute!
Excellent jayda this is what happens with my yarn. Thank you Please tell me about a nice yarn shop in toronto where I can find T shirt yarn because I went to Michaels craft store they have caron cakes and other stuff but they don't know about T shirt yarn. Where can I find it please let me know the shop. Waiting for your reply Thank you
Hi Ghazal, I am not very familiar with Toronto, but I do know that Lion Brand makes a t shirt yarn called Fettachini and Bernat makes one called Decor (available in Walmart) I hope that helps!
+Erin K Green Hi Erin! The yarn I have on my shelves is the yarn I reach for most often (I crochet A LOT lol) but all the yarn that I don't use as often, or have ear-marked for special projects I keep in big, plastic storage containers with tight fitting lids. This makes it easy to stack and also keeps out the dust, moisture (and possibly any little bugs) so I can be sure that my yarn will be just perfect for use when I am ready for it! :)
Can you show how to make a diaper stacker for adult diapers so there not laying around in bathroom thank you I enjoy your viedos alot thank you for teaching us all how to do things thanks Barbara Robinson
This is a great tip but I have a serious yarn problem I will find a yarn I like so I buy it and now I am literally swimming in yarn so do you have any tips ? Yours truly Totally Geek 😄
Totally Geek Hm, you seem to have caught the same 'problem' I have! LOL... well, short of compulsively crocheting *giggle* I do have a few storage techniques...sounds like another idea for a Quick Tip! Hint: that lovely shelf of yarn behind me is NOT my stash.... muahahahaha!
Hi Carla, yes there is. If you find and pull out the end that comes from inside the skein, the skein will unravel from the inside out, without rolling all over the place and tangling up. This is how skeins were designed to be used:) If it's a garbled mess and you can't find the middle or it came out all weird, you will have to take the time to rewind the skein into a ball from the outside string inward.
I have watched you for 2 years and always surprised by what i learn from you. Thank you so much for all you show. Your a great teacher. Love the tip

Hi jaida i love your swetwer
Should you roll the yarn in a ball first before you crochet ? Great tip !!!
Hi Lisa, it's not necessary, but I do on occasion if I have a skein that just does not want to play nice and unravel properly :)
Good morning sunshine! I have a yarn problem. I squirrel it away, bought some yarn yesterday and am wondering why I didn't buy more.
Love your bouncy personality!
Hi Theresa! Thank you for watching :)
Hahaha it was so funny when you show t last yarn so flimsy and then standing in front of t three. You are so cute! 😅lol😊 😛

I would love for you to do a video on calculating how much yarn I will need for my projects
Hi Jennifer, thank you for the suggestion :)
sometimes the wrappers have direction for other projects on the other side so instead of using tape i use a rubber band

Hey Jayda, I was wondering if you could show me an example of how label the color information for a ball of yarn?
Hi Brittney, if you're making your own labels (or notes) on a ball of yarn, it's helpful to copy down the original label information before you get rid of it (or possibly lose it!) Hi Yvonne! Yes, I made that :) I love those sorts of hats, I haven't done a tutorial on one yet but I do have plans to :)
do you have a video for that super cute purle squid behind you, or a written instruction
Hi there! Yes we do :) We have a written pattern for that sweet little Squid in our Etsy shop :) You can visit our shop here: www.etsy.com/ca/shop/JaydaInStitches Thank you for watching!
I take my leftover yarn and its label and put them in a ziploc bag so I know what it is. If the yarn is bigger I roll it into a ball first.
That is a great tip, keeps the yarn clean, tidy and you can see what you have :)
Thank you so much, please do a video tutorial on how you make your blouse 👚 ?! Thanks
Hi Abeer, this is a knit sweater, and I didn't make it :) But thank you for the suggestion!
@@JaydaInStitches, thanks for writing back, I just wanna say how much I love ur videos nd proudly subscribed. Hugs 🤗

This is perfect! Love it! :)
Thanks Kat! I thought we could all use some help organizing our stashes to start the new year off right😊

Is there a difference from.starting the yarn ball from in the inside end or the outside end ??
Hi Carla, yes there is. If you find and pull out the end that comes from inside the skein, the skein will unravel from the inside out, without rolling all over the place and tangling up. This is how skeins were designed to be used:) If it's a garbled mess and you can't find the middle or it came out all weird, you will have to take the time to rewind the skein into a ball from the outside string inward.
Two thumbs thusly up
Elle Lee LOL Thanks Elle!
I've actually had some skeins where I've had to cut them apart from knots inside during manufacturing. ?.nothing worse than knots in your yarn
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great!
Thanks
so cute girl!
May i buy the yarn from you?
Jayda I helped subscribe when you didn't have many subscribers
Only one problem with this idea. Doing this inevitably ends up making knots and tangles in the yarn the next time you try using it.
Can we buy wool in multan?
i always throw mine pkg'g out :o
If I reroll my yarn into balls, then I often toss the wrappers too - but I keep them together with like yarns so I always know what they are :)
i can not faind u on fb can u write me how ur called there.
thanks
Hi! We're not on FB but we are on Google+, Instagram and Pinterest all at JaydaInStitches :)
