At the 10:14 mark, there’s a great side view of the drain pipe system. Thanks again for the Pulitzer quality report. Wishing you safe travels with the fam!
Another great video Juan, congrats! Great information and fantastic selection of video and still shots (DWR's) to include in your video, especially the video of the blowing up of the dirt and rock, still shots of showing more of the same, and the side shot of the spillway wall with all the piping. What a complex and enormous project! Once again thanks for the spot on reporting. And hats off to Captain Kablamo. Also great shot of "sleeping" kids hearing they are off to London! The enthusiasm of young children is priceless!
Thanks for another great update. I live in southern Cali & knew nothing about any of this until I started following you. I’ve been following you since this incident started. Keep up the great work!
You are a breath of fresh air on this subject. I hope there will be no more earthquakes to ruin all their hard work. I was 70 miles away and felt the last one.
What a fantastic end to a great Oroville Dam update , Juan. I have Irish , Dutch and Italian blood , a hell of a mix right! LOL! I am proud to state that I enjoy bluegrass folk music as both Grandparents were musicians. I miss those younger days. Thanks for sparking up some great old memories . As always looking forward to your next shared videos.Cheers to you and your family, stay safe and God Bless.
Have a great vacation with the family! Thank you, again, Capt. Kablammo, for another fine report on the Oroville project. If only the old news networks could just give us the facts without the editorial, we would all be in better shape as a nation. God bless!
NICE video, as always LOVE the Northern California scenery and can feel the warm breeze,,,, AL the way to MINNESOTA where it snowed about Three inches last night, AND IS NOW a sultry +4 at midnight..... Like the Sierras we are way behind on snow, (like 18 to 20 inches I believe. Keep us in the LOOP and HAPPY VACATIONING Juan and FAMILY !!
Great info! Our local media is still busy talking about the guy out your way that was high on drugs, and flew through the air in his car into the second story of a dentist's office - we never get QUALITY reporting like this on those useless channels. Thanks again, Juan!
Always fun to fly with you, good update info. Was wondering what your comments were going to be about upper management replacement. Very unbiased, sticking with facts which is your style that I enjoy. Looking forward to future updates.
Juan, you are the best information without the usual bias. And the aerial views are without peer. It would be nice to see before and after views of the construction so we can clearly see the scope of the project.
Thanks for sharing Juan always informative and I seem to learn something on everyone of your videos. kablamo landing LOL looked pretty gusty as you made final approach any landing a good landing as you taxi away and go to the hanger. LOL poor chewy having to stay with grandma reminds of our jack russell we had for 19 years when we went on vacation she always stayed at my parents house.
Good job on covering the Oroville Spillway project. We live our lives in our on little orbits. It is when the system does not work properly that it makes the living in our orbit a lot more unstable. BTW I love Irish Music too.
Great to hear you're coming to Ireland Juan. Cold (1-2c) and snowy here today. Give us a shout and I'll buy you and Mrs Browne a pint in a nice old fashioned cosy pub.
Seeing the controlled blast from that vantage was pretty cool. I actually have the old DuPont radio ad about the "new" (1959 I think) controlled blasting technology from when they first invented the electric blasting cap and electrical blasting timer equipment, and talks about how it can help prevent excessive ground vibrations.
Another very informative video. I really don't have anything to say about it which gave me time to look back on some of your other videos and I found that you LOVE Manzanita!!!!!(Only a bike rider would understand what you were talking about!!!!)(;>) Keep up the GREAT work, Juan.
Great job Juan. You have great in site on the engineering of the Orville Dam repairs. Great analysis of the latest reports. The new people in charge at DWR are just talking heads and have no idea of what it takes to run a dam or the water system!
You have about the best documentary on the dam Your airplane is sure in excellent condition, a real gem... Would be nice to have extra HP for safety during hot weather Thanks for sharing your really nice videos and travel tours too ! ! !
Thank you Juan. Nice to hear your coming to Ireland. I,ll ask for a facebook friendship and will meet up when you come to Ireland . It,s cold over here now. Cheers
I appriciate your videos i follow lotsa vlogger pilots and none seem to be in our neck of the woods i live in lodi and i can relate to everywhere you fly keep up the good videos
As one techey to another, I know you wont mind me making a suggestion about aircraft audio...I'm wondering if the volume going Into your recording device is set a bit high...sounds good on radio, but a bit hot on intercom...intercom is a little distorted/compressed...while radio is much lower but exibiting none of the amplitude distortion of the mike... Love the reporting ... as always, great job covering Oroville...thanks for all your hard work.
But Juan you didn't investigate what the public really wants to know about. The green spot! Sorry I couldn't resist. Great job as always. Have a great time in Britannia with your family!!!
You didnt mention any remedial work on the gates for phase 2...or maybe cementing the inlet to the gates to prevent erosion. Is that part of the plan? And thanks for the great updates.
Hi Juan, enjoy your holiday in the UK and Ireland. If you get to read this there is a question that's nagging at me. There seems to be a gap between the end of the secant cut-off wall and the main spillway. How is that to be plugged? Because if the emergency spillway WAS ever used that gap would erode and head-cut super fast and put the main spillway gate structure in danger.
Great update again! A few days ago Jerry Wagner flew over to Tahoe and took youtube along... the lack of snow was most obvious. Dry times likely coming this year.
Hey Juan, I was wondering what the financial impact to Oroville and surrounding communities is from this project. Is all the construction causing a positive impact, or is the loss of tourist dollars causing a negative impact? Or is it a wash? Thanks for all of your great reports!
Generally not a problem with a fully functioning spillway. You simply ramp down the flow with the gates to avoid scouring. This was only an issue during the emergency.
russell379x, you have found the only competent journalist on the subject right here in Juan Browne. Stick around. He'll give you all the right info and none of the BS from the lame stream media.
So with the water levels this low and very little snow , the main spillway will probably not being used this winter. So when do they start phase 2 of repairing the spillway ? Nice video as always and have a great vacation!
The water gate! That interesting, thanks I enjoy your Oroville dam update, I've been watching since February, I lived Las Plumas PG&E camp before the dam ( my dad worked in the big bend power house) was built and was there when Gov Brown did the ground breaking for the bypass tunnel. So this brings back lots of memory's.
There could be a journalistic opportunity here. The various brief appointments to the top job at DWR reminds me of Caltrans, the State's transportation agency. I was a noise and air quality consultant in CA for thirty years, working often on transportation projects with Caltrans involvement. The phenomenon is "pension spiking". Cronies within the agency conspire to appoint one of their number to the top job just before retirement. That qualifies the appointee for glorious retirement pay. And then the next guy... and so on. Karla Nemeth is however a Gov. Brown crony who has a master's degree in public administration but a history of "public affairs". She is utterly unqualified to lead engineers.
Great reporting! Appreciate how you keep on sticking to this important story. Like the footage from the second Go Pro, too. I like the personal interviews on California DWR's channel. Are you able to interview people on the ground? DWR needed a new director, one that isn't an interim director. Are you able to interview her?
Bo McGillacutty I agree, problem is that any major build will always get companies coming in on the build to rake something out of the government etc...it’s like our power station shut downs (closed for maintenance) everyone wants a bit of the action....I was once being paid £7.75 an hour for a storeman (usual wage was £2.75 an hour) and being paid travel expenses, lodging, fuel, 3 meals a day for 5 months....I could of had the rest of the year off and still be in profit going by my old wages.......yes it’s great to make money but, don’t you think it’s a bit over the top??…considering this was back in the 1980’s!!
Great update. The contractor appears to have as much work to complete as they've already done. It'll be another fast paced construction year and hard deadlines to complete the schedule requirements! However, I believe they will prevail! ...13
Awesome video Juan! Thanks for the update! Have you given any thought to uploading your flyovers in 4k? Although they look amazing now, I think 4k would be awe inspiring! Anyhow, have a great vacation! 😎
I enjoy your involvement in this project because you give dignity and respect to all those workers involved in trying to deal with this MAJOR problem.
At the 10:14 mark, there’s a great side view of the drain pipe system. Thanks again for the Pulitzer quality report. Wishing you safe travels with the fam!

How cool is that to be able to watch the electrical charge run down the dirt prior to the blasting caps ignite the charges !!
What a fantastic end to a great Oroville Dam update , Juan. I have Irish , Dutch and Italian blood , a hell of a mix right! LOL! Beautiful air plane!!!!! Great update videos Mr Brown!!!!!
Thank you Juan. All journalists need to learn from your channel.
Great info! Our local media is still busy talking about the guy out your way that was high on drugs, and flew through the air in his car into the second story of a dentist's office - we never get QUALITY reporting like this on those useless channels. Thanks again, Juan!
yer why don't people just boycott the main stream new media. its no better here in New Zealand
Thanks for the update and enjoy your well-deserved vacation!
Another Great Job "Blancolirio", we'll keep watching for your updates down here in the city of Oroville .
Have a fabulous time on your vacation Juan.
London! Ireland! Can't wait for those videos! Happy trails, Juan and family!
Always fun to fly with you, good update info. Was wondering what your comments were going to be about upper management replacement. Very unbiased, sticking with facts which is your style that I enjoy. Looking forward to future updates.
This Tune will be forever be stuck with me as blancolirio newscast-tune. Keep up the great work, Juan.
Juan, Great reporting on this project, love how you tie all the information together.
Another great informative video! You have spoiled us to expect info like this everywhere and that's
just not the way it is. Have a great vacation.
Juan, you are the best information without the usual bias. And the aerial views are without peer. It would be nice to see before and after views of the construction so we can clearly see the scope of the project.
Thanks for the update Juan. I appreciate your continued coverage.
Glad I can depend on someoneto keep the public informed. Thank you.
Enjoy your trip. Glad your kids are going along.
yet another intelligent, easily understood update.. Thank you Juan.. -=)
Thank you for all of your work to provide this great information. Rock on Capt. Kablammo!
Another great video, full of fact and devoid of hype! Thanks Juan, have a great vacation. Best regards.
Always enjoy watching the landings at the end of your videos
Awesome Oroville update 👍👍👍 Have a great time on Vacation.✌🏻
Thanks so much for the update. I have a lot friends from here to Uba City, CA.
Thanks for sharing Juan always informative and I seem to learn something on everyone of your videos. kablamo landing LOL looked pretty gusty as you made final approach any landing a good landing as you taxi away and go to the hanger. Thank you once again, for the great updates!
Good job on covering the Oroville Spillway project. We live our lives in our on little orbits. It is when the system does not work properly that it makes the living in our orbit a lot more unstable. BTW I love Irish Music too.
Great coverage as always Juan! And thanks for being able to take the images from a DWR cutsie music video and turn them into something informative!
Doolin, Lisdoonvarna and Enystimon in the Burren region of County Clare are great places for Irish music Juan. Hope you have a great break!
Steve Roberts Excellent!
Thank you for sharing your amazing video. God bless you and your family
Thanks for the update Juan!
Thanks for continuing with these reports.
Great to hear you're coming to Ireland Juan. Cold (1-2c) and snowy here today. Give us a shout and I'll buy you and Mrs Browne a pint in a nice old fashioned cosy pub.
Excellent!
Have a great vacation with your lovely family.
Thanks Juan, I enjoy your informative reporting.
Another meaningful report! And I always enjoy anything you teach us about aviation.
You know it was watching your videos and then the onsite drone videos steered me into buying a 4K DJI Inspire drone for the concrete work i do.
Great work , good info, look forward to next update
Great footage and arial update, thanks Juan nice landing have fun in London
That was some nice and smooth video from the Mighty Luscombe.
Gotta respect men working with skill, intelligence, and physical energy.......those front line construction workers.
Thanks for the report, Enjoy the vacation!
Are there going to be any culverts under the road to the boat ramp. If not it will wash out again. It needs alot culverts
Thanks blanco
You have about the best documentary on the dam
Your airplane is sure in excellent condition, a real gem...
Would be nice to have extra HP for safety during hot weather
Thanks for sharing your really nice videos and travel tours too ! ! !
OUTSTANDING again. 🐢🐢🐢
Love it, 'Capt Ka-blammo!' Great updates as always, much appreciated. Enjoy your vac'n! Take good care, Browne family 🤓💜
Have a GREAT vacation!!!!
Great video.
Any plan on doing an anniversary video in February?
Thank you Juan. Nice to hear your coming to Ireland. I,ll ask for a facebook friendship and will meet up when you come to Ireland . It,s cold over here now. Cheers
Great footage once again Juan! And indeed lets hope they will invest in knowlegable people from now on at DWR.
I appriciate your videos i follow lotsa vlogger pilots and none seem to be in our neck of the woods i live in lodi and i can relate to everywhere you fly keep up the good videos
Thanks much. Love the landings....
Very informative video, thanks!...
LOL... always entertaining and packed full of good info..!!Try watching some old Gentle Giant videos here Juan.. Thank you!!
Tom Talley I think you're right.
Lake level was dropped only from the water discharge from the power plant? wow..
Mike Ovanes yes, this is why it's so critical to the operation.
Excellent and informative video. Thanks.
What is the water feature to the left on your final just before the runway ? ie Short dam and two tanks.
But Juan you didn't investigate what the public really wants to know about. The green spot! Sorry I couldn't resist. Great job as always. Have a great time in Britannia with your family!!!
Juan, thank you for sharing. What is the meaning behind the bird feather, in the window, in front of the co-pilot?
Mark N just a souvenir...”think light...”
Thank you for these VERY informative videos!!!!
You didnt mention any remedial work on the gates for phase 2...or maybe cementing the inlet to the gates to prevent erosion. Is that part of the plan? And thanks for the great updates.
no, just some general gate repairs, no lining of the entry that I know of.
It's much higher terrain...slopes up to spillway.
i'm wondering if all those workers are helping the local towns by stopping for coffee & whatnot.
Ireland, is it?! Now I may be insanely envious! Hope you guys have a great time!
Great update again! A few days ago Jerry Wagner flew over to Tahoe and took youtube along... the lack of snow was most obvious. Dry times likely coming this year.
Jennifer, I was up in Reno this afternoon and there was very little snow over Donner.
Hey Juan, I was wondering what the financial impact to Oroville and surrounding communities is from this project. Is all the construction causing a positive impact, or is the loss of tourist dollars causing a negative impact? Or is it a wash? Thanks for all of your great reports!
No construction paying off much better.
Are they going to transfer the massive pile of crushed rock from the old RCC site to the new one?
John Easton I would think so.
Thanks for the update. Goodluck with that whole Jerry Brown thing.
we're gonna need it....
The Mighty Luscomb is looking good did you repaint her?
restored about 10 years ago.
I wondered if it's worthwhile to put a concrete apron in front of the main spillway gate, to prevent scouring and allow lowering the water level more.
Generally not a problem with a fully functioning spillway. You simply ramp down the flow with the gates to avoid scouring. This was only an issue during the emergency.
I have friends in oroville, this has to be the hardest disaster to find Info on!?!?
russell379x, you came to the right place! Juan has the most comprehensive and thorough coverage out there. Take a look back into his archive.
russell379x, you have found the only competent journalist on the subject right here in Juan Browne. Stick around. He'll give you all the right info and none of the BS from the lame stream media.
The construction people are doing a great job.
I love getting to fly with you like this.
Thanks Juan. Excellent as usual. Why is that piece of rebar moving around at 3:39?
Joe Minella
Probably not steel bar.. its vibrating like crazy!
So with the water levels this low and very little snow , the main spillway will probably not being used this winter. So when do they start phase 2 of repairing the spillway ? Nice video as always and have a great vacation!
One of the still photos shows a pickup and a guy walking on the spillway how did get there?
Through the gates.
The water gate! That interesting, thanks I enjoy your Oroville dam update, I've been watching since February, I lived Las Plumas PG&E camp before the dam ( my dad worked in the big bend power house) was built and was there when Gov Brown did the ground breaking for the bypass tunnel. I would love to! Good idea.
Awesome update Juan, thank you..
Those workmen/women certainly deserve bonuses for their work...has any time been lost from accidents at all??
Marc’s Fx none reported so far...
That's remarkable!
Bo McGillacutty well, if getting over paid gives these results of none so far, I think they’ve earned that right to be overpaid....don’t you? 😉😊
Kablammo; your landing was pretty smooth. It's not the 747 from work.
Fudge... your plane's audio is not working as well as you might like...
Wow. Big project.
Carla is just another Jerry Brownstripe appointee.
Don't hold your breath for improvements.
Great update.
The contractor appears to have as much work to complete as they've already done. It'll be another fast paced construction year and hard deadlines to complete the schedule requirements! However, I believe they will prevail!

“Captain Kablammo” :D
Oh, good. Little girls who like demolition pics/vids. We little boys (of all ages) love 'em, too.
Awesome video Juan! Thanks for the update! Have you given any thought to uploading your flyovers in 4k? Although they look amazing now, I think 4k would be awe inspiring! Anyhow, have a great vacation! 😎
Awesome report, loved watching the landing. I'm gonna gas up your plane as soon as I recover from Christmas.
We in the business call that landin, drag'in it in.
