I have been a life long fan of drag racing.Always a highlight when i hear a good story from a old pro.I worked for the late Al Swindahl building T/F cars and heard many stories from the old pros. This is a good one.Thx.for posting this.
Hi Jim, Glad you liked it. I love these old stories too. Looking forward to going to his Museum and talking a lot more to him. Spread the word of Motor House please!
that's an awesome story! and yes I have heard many if stories of national trail owner screwing racers. my dad won a couple rounds and made it to the semis. entry fee was like 25$ and the owner hands him 15$ for going 5 rounds. my dad told him to keep the 15$ because he obviously needs the money more than my dad did and that was the last time we went there.
Don was stuck being conservative! As a roadracer i have played with 1 deg increments and found at least for qualifying 38/39 will make the engine a bit 'freeer', but back to the usual 36 for racing. SBC.
I love listening to the good ol days in drag racing. Thanks for sharing! Keep em coming!!
Thanks and will do Bob. Spread the word please.
