As I'm transitioning from a Canon DSLR and looking for alternatives, I came across your video because I was about to buy the S5IIX. However, I understand everything people have been saying about this camera. All competitors have newer models, with slight improvements, but which cover exactly the weak point of this one. And I'm not even talking about flagships, but about the R6II or the Z6III. This "lack" of new releases from Lumix is a bit discouraging. It gives the impression that everything there works more slowly. I hope they release an S1II in December. Or maybe an S5III with a more modern sensor.
@@_fxavier I fully understand your concerns, and many friends of mine I suggest this camera to have said the same. The thing is the ose 2 cameras cost 500 to 700 more dispensing where you are. Unfortunately I don’t think an s5III is coming no where soon. And the S1II if it come, I don’t see it coming before summer of 2025, so yeah, let’s say that LUMIX it is a bit in a Limbo in many people’s eyes. For any camera you’ll go, it is going to be great ✌🏾
@@samuelboatengyt I live in Brazil, so purchasing photography equipment here is a bit more complicated, and it's also much more expensive than in other places. But the S5II has incredible IBIS and Open Gate. And even more so now that Panasonic has announced a big presentation at CES on January 7th. The S5II was announced at CES in 2023, so...
I’m h okay, I understand even more your dilemma then Yeah I’m aware but that will probably be the S1RII &/or the S1HII announcement, I don’t think there is going to be any S5 line up related camera stuff coming, only firmware updaters. But let’s see, hopefully you’ll get what suits you the best, but take in consideration the climate, the S5II/X, have a fun the other 2 don’t
Good video bro, and to all the commenters mentioning the cropped 4k60- your Sony/Canon 'technically' shoots ALL RESOLUTIONS in crop since there's no Open Gate lol.. you lose about 15% of your sensor due to losing resolution at the top and bottom to get a 16:9 ratio out of a 3:2 sensor. A camera ain't truely "uncropped" unless it has open gate.
@@YashKataria-e9j I would go with the 85/1.5, the 50 is great, but you can kinda get it with the kit lens, wipe the 85/1.8 you can’t and it gives you more subject separation and longer focal length
@@DiltonMaia-o3z I can’t tell you which is better, because it depends from your needs. What mount are you on now? If you’re in Sony ecosystem already, just go with the A7IV, it does not make sense changing your all system, but if you’re starting from scratch, I would go for the S5IIX, the open gate and the pro tools, are just something that will help you grow and learn better, for when you’ll want to actually use real cinema cameras.
I'm an amateur. I bought this camera a few months ago and it is my first serious/pro camera. I'm still learning how to use it but I love. I compared many cameras before choosing the S5 II X (Sony, Canon, Fuji, etc.) and even if no camera is perfect, I don't regret my choice 👍🏼
Well I hope so, it’s not even two years old yet. The A7IV is 3 and still holds its own and is even better than in a lot of ways. Lumis has yet to compete with the a7siii/fx3, which are still the go to over their canon and new Nikon equivalents
I think many confuses “one of the top” with “the best”, never said it is better than those other, just said it has still his place among those others. The lumix s5IIX is not made to compete with over 3500$ cameras 😅 The only 2 things that makes the A7IV better are the mega pixels and the Sony AF. The rest sorry but I don’t agree. But I guess it is matter of taste.
@ um not many people use 120 unless your doing specific product shots. 4k60 uncrop is not worth $1k more for that feature. I rather step back lol or just put on a wider lens. Not really compelling argument as you can get 95% of the same thing done with Lumix. Not to mention better Ibis, open gate, 6k versus 4k and more options for anamorphic lenses. Both are good cameras though.
@ the crop allows less light in so low light is even worse. When you need it, you need it. 4k 120 gets used on a lot of broll. These small, yet massive things are the difference between a professional camera and a hobbyist. When you’re getting paid 5k+ for the shoots, those things matter. Especially low light performance and the AF. If you’re not willing to pay for it, thats on you
