    Thanks for the video, just got Platinum Elite and got 5 free suite night awards. This was a great explanation of the suite night award benefit!

    one thing you're missing is that SNAs are approved or rejected above property; the hotel doesn't choose in order to reduce bias.

    Can you use suite night credits at the check in desk? I’m trying to using them for an upcoming trip in a few days and the Marriott website‘s not letting me. It’s telling me the reservation cannot be modified right now. Please try in a few minutes. It’s been telling me that for the past 3 days now and my trip is in a few days.

      I don't think you can use them at check in but you could try calling Marriott's toll free number to see if the person there can help you. If a stay is less than 5 days away, the hotel may no longer accept Suite Night Awards so I recommend calling as soon as possible.
      I hope this gets resolved for you.

    Thanks for this video. So, it is not a free night because we still pay for our room (whether with points/cash). It is a "free suite upgrade" IF they are able to accommodate? I'm a platinum elite member and noticed that though I stayed in a marriot from Oct 2021 - February 2022, all of my points for 2021 are gone and it is only August 2022. The points expire as soon as the year is up? Is that right?

      You are correct that you will still need to pay for a room to use a Suite Night Award to upgrade. I know some people have had bad luck with Suite Night Awards failing to clear, especially in the United States, but from my experience, I almost always get upgraded when using Suite Night Awards.
      Marriott points are supposed to expire after 24 months of no activity on your account but due to COVID, Marriott paused expiration of points until December 31, 2022. If you lost Marriott points this year and don’t remember using them, you may want to call Marriott to see what happened. There were some glitches in the system involving the expiration of Suite Night Awards in June/July of this year but I have not heard of Marriott points expiring when they weren’t supposed to.

      @@ardens-travel-guide This is the least important benefit from the Marriott program in my opinion , early checkin, 4 pm checkout, longe access, free drinks, water bottles, free breakfast and bonus points are more valuable. I normally only get a better view with a SNAs in the states, but overseas I get bumped up without SNA to a real two room suite almost every time. The reason being that say at the Le Meriden in Panama City has 23 suites out of 80 rooms. Same with the Grande Panama Sheraton. I'm Titanium , but I'm told even Gold and Silver can achieve this overseas.
      When I check in at Four Points in downtown Manhattan this February they only have three suites out of almost three hundred rooms. I might as well try it, because I only used 1 of 5 last year where I got a better view at the downtown Marriott.
      Also hotels like Downtown Marriott is buzzing with regulars who have Ambassador and Titanium elites. What is little known is that many suburban Fairfields have a couple of very nice suites that they will upgrade you to even if you only have gold.

      @@paulfelkner6749 I also think benefits like lounge access and free breakfast are more important but I've found some hotels where SNAs can be useful. I used to stay at the Sheraton near Tokyo Disneyland quite a bit and never got upgraded to more than a club room unless I used SNAs. There are also some resort hotels such as the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott that won't allow elite members access their lounges unless they use SNAs or pay extra for club access.
      It's nice to learn that hotels in Panama seem to be good at upgrading elites without SNAs and I wish more hotels can be like that.

      @@ardens-travel-guide Not that I ever stayed in Asia yet or Europe at a Marriott property, but everyone in the Marriott community knows that you will be treated much better overseas.
      Any Marriott elite member would be well advised to use their SNAs in Asia, Europe and Latin America.

    So let's say I hit my 50 nights and unlock my suite night rewards in October, how long do I have to use them?

    • @ardens-travel-guide
      @ardens-travel-guide  Год назад

      They expire December 31 of the year after they are earned. So if you hit 50 nights in October 2023, they'll expire December 31, 2024.

    so if multiple options show up on the upgrade request, should you click multiple? ... I mean, any upgrade is better than no upgrade

    • @ardens-travel-guide
      @ardens-travel-guide  Год назад

      Selecting multiple options increases the chances of getting an upgrade if the best suites happen to be unavailable. But sometimes, you may want to save your Suite Night Awards for a different stay if the best suites aren't available.
