      Been to Switzerland and enjoyed Zurich where the river flowing thru town was so clear/clean that you could see the fish swimming in the water.

    Must have been a BIG land slip off a steep bank side where a clear fall of timber had taken place at one time previous.

    You can see the bottom. Even with all the debris the water itself is clear.

    I’ve been to China( Asia) and seen way too much plastic bottles/ plastic bags/ clothing/litter/ garbage floating in the rivers and along the river banks which is why hot beverages are a safe bet. While in the EU Europe the tap water is still acceptably safe,fish can been seen swimming and there is an effort to be environmentally responsible and when you have numerous global reference point,knowledge can give you a better understanding/ clearer picture of the situation.

    Voilà le résultat quand les humains stupides canalisent une rivière plutôt que de la laisser divaguer dans les champs et des zones inondables !

    What's happens to a river like this post flood. Is everything dead and the river repopulates itself? I can imagine all that debris scouring the life from it.

    • @hjs4weather
      @hjs4weather  5 дней назад

      After such an event, the river goes through a natural recovery process that depends on various factors. It is not that all life is wiped out after a flood, but the habitat is drastically changed and many organisms can die or be displaced.
      While the flood is fatal for many organisms, rivers and their ecosystems are designed to adapt to such extreme events. Especially in mountain rivers, as seen in the video, such disturbances are part of the natural cycle. They even ensure that the river remains dynamic and new habitats emerge, e.g. by creating new gravel banks or river branches.
      The recovery of a river can take several months to years, depending on the severity of the flood and the environmental conditions. Natural rivers usually have a better chance of fully regenerating than regulated or heavily polluted waters.
