Hello! Soft light will be obtained by having a large light source (the larger the softbox, the softer the light) and additionally setting it close to the subject. Perhaps you are moving your light too far away? Or are you not putting on diffusion material?
Using the lantern with black flats defeats the purpose of using a lantern in the first place, other than that it’s a well made tutorial just a bit stiff narrated
Hi, thanks for the comments and your point of view! Actually, lantern softbox is mostly used to create soft lighting and fill the whole scene with light. But hey, see that using black flats helped to create an interesting effect, this shows that it is a versatile modifier after all :)
