    Usually i'm Thai and stay in Bangkok. More than 25 years i have not been in Phuket as For Thai local view, Phuket is so expensive for tourists especially transportation except you rent the motorcycle but if you cannot drive it is difficult to travel in Phuket. That why many Thai people will go aboard counties whenever they compare the price. However for the beach, Thai local will go to Hau Hin at Prachuap Khiri Khan province becuase of cheap and near by Bangkok and also more silent than Phuket.

    If you’re under a tight budget, Phuket is not the best destination. It’s a tourist destination/gateway to the island paradise and more expensive than the rest of the country.
    For budget stay, go to Pattaya or Chiang Mai. Your money will go further there. It still have lots of thing to do and see.

    As a Bangkok local who just visited Danang, I would say Vietnam has done excellent job expanding and improving the non-capital cities so fast unlike Thailand where we only focused on capital city like Bangkok. At this rate of improvement Vietnam will surpass Thailand with tourist spots. Unfortunately, we just have advantages with locations but lack of sense of long-term sustainable development.

      I agree, Vietnam was wise to develop several large cities and not just the capital like in Bangkok. However, Thailand is far more advanced when it comes to marketing and commutation than Vietnam. Vietnam is a few generations behind Thailand when it comes to marketing, cleanliness, convenience, etc. Vietnam will probably be more like China than Thailand in the next ten years.

    Pretty accurate run down of both countries. Da Nang is a large provincial town. Better to compare Bangkok with HCMC re retail outlets IMO. I also had my mobile stolen in Saigon but I was drunk and alone walking down a dark alley. What could possibly go wrong? More importantly never felt in danger to my person in either country. I now prefer Vietnam as I feel it's more edgy and less effected by tourism. The only major negative is air pollution during winter. Mind you Bangkok has its fair share of smog. But they do have the BTS and subway trains.

    *Currently we are in Thailand planning our trip to NHa Trang Vietnam for All of Feb. 2024. I applied for a 30 day visa but I had the option for 90 days. I got to Thailand Dec 1st 2023 already got 1 extension which is good until the end of Jan and was told the next one will be for 60 days, that will be a first for this Canadian, it may have to do with the fact that it's my 2nd time here since I married my Thai wife. Coffee I found here in Thailand and Vietnam to be expensive which surprises me because Vietnam is a major coffee exporter. Been to Da Nang 2 times and Love it. Had our Honeymoon in Ha Long Bay, Stunning. People will also drive their motorbike on the sidewalk. Sorry to hear your phone get stolen, I guess that can happen anywhere. We got scammed in Vietnam but it wasn't serious or expensive but I'm more aware of what's going on. I still LOVE Vietnam very much. Nice video thanks for sharing. Be well.

    Both countries are outstanding. Thailand's infrastructure is ahead of Vietnam. Don't know if that explains price difference. As you pointed out, still very affordable. Vietnam is, in my opinion, more conservative. Tattoos on women less common. Women in Vietnam are less outspoken as well. I'm not criticizing either, just an observation. What ever floats your boat.

    Hi Olga and Rene. I’ve been so used to seeing you in Turkey that I find it a bit odd to see you in South East Asia. The videos are great and you do an excellent job with comparisons between the two countries. Have you visited Hua Hin ( Thailand ) ? If you have, how does it compare? Is it a worthwhile city for long term living? This is hypothetical,if you were to ask your audience this:
    Where do you believe we would want to live on a long term basis,A.Turkey,2.Thailand or 3.Vietnam? My answer would be Turkey.
    This is my personal opinion and is based on my perception on the level of enthusiasm shown on each video. No disrespect for any country,it is just an inner feeling.

    If you want freedom, people must choose Thailand. You can criticize the government. You can do anything in Thailand as long as it doesn't create problems for society. But in Vietnam, if you talk negatively about the government, they will arrest you.

    • @OlgaProGoingPlaces
      @OlgaProGoingPlaces  11 месяцев назад

      I definitely wouldn’t recommend criticizing the government or the king in Thailand. You can be jailed or banned from the country. And if you criticize a local business you can be sued for defamation.
      You can enjoy certain freedoms in both Thailand and Vietnam, as long as you stay out of politics.

    Have you checked and compared wifi internet & transportation between the 2 countries? IMO, taxi in Thailand is quite bad, lot of scammers. They usually bargain for a trip and turn off / don't have taxi meter. In Vietnam also have that but very little. Besides, lot of car app can be used and you'll be worried for arising cost or wrong routine/ destiination. About wifi, it's free everywhere in Vietnam: restaurant, coffee shop, even street food shop, while in Thailand it's more difficult to access wifi and it's not free everywhere.

    Thailand has better infrastructure, food, more friendly and honesty people, which draw more tourists to visit the country. Quality of the people is the most important for developing the country. Thailand without its Thai people, it's not Thailand.
    Tourists want to visit Thailand because Thai people, Thai food, and Thai historical places.
    Without its friendly and honesty people, there wouldn't be any tourists visit Thailand. Thailand is bringing in $12-15 billions yearly into the country from tourism alone. That makes Thailand farahead from other countries in S.E. Asia.
